Apparently she has been wanting to do mission work for a while but her parents would only let her if she didn't have to get shots. That was her parents biggest concern. Having to get shots.

This has been discussed here before, but if I remember correctly, it's not a crazy fundie aversion to modern medicine. I think Anna has allergies that preclude her from receiving certain vaccinations. Someone else might be able to be more accurate on this than me, but I think her other sisters have received all their vaccinations.
