Spin off for Derrick and Jill

3 ring circus

Recommended Posts

I would probably watch just because I can't help it but I really hope they don't. If the Duggars insist on the reality show, at least its about everybody with a different person being focused on for different episodes. Jill and Derrick need their privacy as a newly married couple. I hope they realize this. I think it was Jim Boob who said he was advised not to have a tv for the first year of marriage so he and Michelle could focus on each other. Being on tv would be even worse!

Only if they did something interesting, like went back to Nepal.

Otherwise, I'd vastly prefer a show that honestly profiles all the newly married Bates/Duggar couples to show the differences in how each adjusts to married life. I think Alyssa's gone less fundie, Whit's gone more fundie, Erin's having a tougher time adjusting, and who knows about Jill. I think all of them side by side would make for a great show...and would give them less time on camera while still getting that TLC $$$.

Doesn't seem like there'd be enough material for an entire show.... on the Bates ABC special i just cringed for poor Chad having to be interviewed in his and Erin's pink newlywed bedroom.

And ABC played it again as part of Alyssa's wedding special. So embarrassing and it's going to be around forever. Even after the few thousand dollars they "earned" is loooooooong gone.

So much for that, huh. But it's TOTALLY different to be ON TV...

No way. There wouldn't be anything to watch. Derrick goes to work in the morning. Jill cleans, does laundry, cooks. Derrick comes home in the evening. Eats. Bible study. Bed.

I doubt it. 19 Kids is boring and they have to add in things like the midwifery, vacations, the Bates, etc. in order to make a show. The wedding and courtship are what's keeping the show alive.

A few check in's here and there would be cool. If they became missionaries in another country long term I would see having a show or a mini series of sorts. They aren't that interesting. Even after the Grand-Dillards start coming they wont need a whole show to themselves. I really wish they would put the Bates back on tv and show less of the Duggars.

If Josh and Anna didn't get a spin-off, I don't think Jill & Derrick could carry one. Lets forget about Josh's "job". Josh lives in a different metro area, has 3 kids and Anna has more family. Checking in with Josh and Anna we see enough and it is only a 15% of 19 kids.

I don't think there is enough for a show. I have this feeling TLC is trying to make Jill and Derick the next little couple. TLC 2 most popular shows right now, 19 kids and little couple. This is how I see TLC spinning it

Jen is a doctor working with babies and Jill deliveries babies

Bill and Derick are both businessman

Jen had cancer, Dericks mom has cancer

Jen and bill documented there adoption process, Jill will document her 100 pregnancy tests and birth

Jen and Bill built there dream home and decorated it, Jill and Derick got handed a dream home and will decorate it.

I really hope it is just a special, like wedding prep, wedding, moving in the house, 3 hour long specials would be plenty.

PLEASE Derick don't quit your job for reality tv paycheck. Let Jill have a somewhat normal life!

This really made ROFL - a 3 hour long special would be plenty - this isn't the Brady Brides circa the 80's

No way. There's no there there with those two. If a family of 19 kids has become boring as hell what can they do with Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Stupid? They're just too awkwardly sincere to carry a show. They'd be 1000x more obvious about the "ministry" aspect of their show than Michelle and Jim Bob are--Jill just can't help being annoyingly preachy. Viewers would steer clear.

I agree that Josh and Anna have better potential. If they wanted to they could pull off their own show--they're a hick fundie couple living in DC, so lots of fodder for TLC's script writers. It makes me think that Josh and Anna really aren't interested in being on the show and do the bare minimum to get that TLC money. Or maybe Josh's job at a hate group will be harder for TLC to work around if he has his own show.

Jessa could pull off a show, but not with Ben. Maybe Jinger if we could get honest reactions out of her. Other than them the only way to make it interesting would be to following a kid who leaves, if that kid would even be willing to go so public with their defection. And I bet Jim Bob would pull the plug on 19KaC if TLC gave his heathen child a show.

but if you notice Jill has changed since she met and married Derick - before it was all about the family - in the episodes where they go to meet and the proposal and such - completely different Jill - in fact imo she didn't fit in with Jana so much anymore because she discovered 'boy's " and the other non courters hadn't

I couldn't stand watching Anna and Josh on a show all by themselves.. omg it's like watching paint dry.

Jessa could not pull of a show - with the way she pouts and goes on and on - its boring, with Ben to a degree although she does pout around him.

I honestly do not see how Jill has changed. At all. She has that first love excitement--that's not change, that's normal behavior. For a teenager. There has not been a single indication that her beliefs, her worldview, her personality, or her behavior has changed. How does she not fit in with Jana anymore? Despite the big deal fundies make about marriage=adult, it really doesn't change a person much, at least not in the beginning.

I greatly dislike Josh and Anna and wouldn't watch a show just about them but if they and TLC wanted to they could actually have a show that pulls in viewers. We all know reality shows are scripted--their fundie in the city schtick is just the type of thing that would get ratings if written write.

Jessa actually has a personality. She doesn't pout...she can be quite biting and sly in her commentary, and a beautiful fundie with an attitude that is the complete opposite of "keep sweet" would get major ratings. People like mean. Political commentators make a living off being mean. There's a reason Simon Cowell was so hugely popular on American Idol. Of course, that would depend on unscripted moments. I would pay to hear that conversation where Ben told her he wanted to buy her all the flowers in the world and she said, "But where would I put them?" Just imaging Ben's face when she said that makes me cackle.

Yes but this is exactly why Jim Bob would NEVER allow Jessa and Ben to get their own show. How many times has it been said on the show that Jessa can come across as "harsh" sometimes? She has always been a snarky person but lately, it seems like her comments have gotten less snarky and veering more into downright mean-spirited/smug territory. Maybe it'll make for good TV or it won't (ask Kate Gosselin how things turned out) but under no circumstances is the opposite of "keeping sweet" the kind of image that Jim Bob and Michelle want their family to portray. Jessa and Ben have somehow managed to stir up controversy even under the strict watchful eyes of their parents. Can you just imagine the ****storm they could create if they had their own show? Way too much of a PR risk for the Duggars.

None if these people need a spinoff. The fact that 19 kids is still on is a headscratcher. These people are beyond boring. They do the same things episode after episode. A spinoff would expect the non-Duggar spouse to bring something new and exciting because we have seen all the Duggar family has to give. They are tapped out. I have not seen or heard anything about Derrick or Ben that would lead me to believe that they can carry or drive a show. If they want a spinoff so bad, have it involve a Duggar doing or saying something intelligent because that I have yet to see.

You're totally right, but Jessa and Ben are adults. Legally adults anyway  I'd love to see TLC offer at least one of them a one season spin off show and for them to accept it whether Jim Bob liked it or not. I think if Ben saw the $$dollar signs he would go for it and it would be a disaster. Don't forget that many reality tv couples implode and it would be interesting to see their parents try to handle that!

These people are boring as hell. what will they film and talk about? How she saved herself and how amazing her sex/married life is? Cooking and cleaning everyday and waiting for her husband to get home? Things normal people do everyday.
