I think Mississippi is one of the poorest states in the country, if not the poorest. Of course they don't want an ultra right wing nut who wants them to have NO social benefits.

Little confused. Did this guy loose or was it to close to tell.

He's a sore looser and it's all the Duggar's fault he lost

It's Sarah Palin's fault. She endorsed him.

You know what strikes me as absurd about this is that McDaniel is saying that the primary was not decided by Republican voters. The voters may not have been all Repugs, but they damn sure were all citizens of Mississippi, unlike those two fools behind McDaniels.

My understanding is that in Mississippi, Democrats could vote in the Republican runoff IF they had not voted in the Democratic primary.

"McDaniel's comments are a clear reference to the Cochran campaign seeking out the support of African-Americans and Democratic voters in the state to bringing him over the finish line in the runoff. Even though McDaniel won in the runoff it was by a slim margin. When the race was called late on Tuesdaywith 98 percent reporting Cochran led McDaniel 50.6 percent to 49.4 percent."

McDaniel is claiming that there were Democrats voting Republican for Cochran that had already voted in the Democratic primary.

Crazy much in Mississippi?

Um, if your state allows party A to vote for party B, then SHOCK of all SHOCKERS dems can vote for republicans and vice versa. If the state does not allow that, people can easily change their affiliation to vote accordingly.

I am registered as independent. last primary, I voted republican in an attempt to keep some jackass tea bagger from getting elected. ( I felr oh so dirty) My husband changed his affiliation in order to do the same. It was legal, and We exercised our full rights as voters to do so.

...cuz it's America and we can't vote for who we choose!

I just know I am sick of Cochran/Macdaniel signs still at every corner and on every roadway. Put Smuggar to work picking up old campaign signs!

That sounds like actual work. Pretty sure Smuggar is unfamiliar with that concept.

If I was running for office, I would hire a Duggar to help campaign for my opponent. I would for sure win.

Haha!!

Sour Grapes . Josh must be stumping for a job as an aide on Capital Hill if he is that involved with this campaign. I hate to tell him but he better pack it up and move to Old Miss and live there for several months before he goes stomping around looking for a job from this guy. He just can't be appointed a job by this guy because he campaigned for him. I am pretty sure its all about the residency situation. Maybe he can be a butler for the guy. He is good at kissing asses. Josh I will be watching to see if this anything comes of this such as a job for you as I also watch other outcomes that are the same. Capital Hill is trying to get rid of Nepotism not promote it among its residents.

My husband and I just mailed in our cards to change our affiliation from unaffiliated to republican to do the very same thing in our August primary!

"We have to make sure that the republican primary was won by republican voters."

Apparently the rebub voters DID win since they won't have to deal with an asshat who wants to cut off food for kids.

Anna really drew the attention. Such a bobble-head.

The Mississippi Tea Party leader who was charged with breaking into the nursing home of Thad Cochran's wife has committed suicide :(

Was American politics always this awful?

Historically speaking, yes. The only difference is the amount of technology available. (Look at the Hamilton/Jefferson feud, the Presidential campaigns of 1800, 1828, 1840, 1860, 1876, 1912, 1928, 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972, and the Know Nothing Party in the 1840's and 1850's,etc...)

Democrats in Mississippi (both of them *snerk*) might be motivated to vote for the craziest Republican candidate they could find in order to lower the Republican chances in the general election.

There was a comment on the thread about Josh, Anna, and the MKids how Smuggar is pretty much a joke amongst Capitol Hill staffers.

If the state has open primaries the party of voter does not matter. The only thing that matters is that voter didn't vote in the other parties primary. I realize to Smuggar and Smuggarette that little things like that don't matter, since they are butthurt that Smuggar's chances of working in Senator McDaniel's office just went down the shitter, because their nutjob lost. :violin:

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
