Moncton, NB, Canada shooter

Since we have family up in Moncton, it is shocking and scary to know there's a shooter still on the loose. It's been about 24 and the city is still on lockdown. And with an RCMP officer in the extended family, it's just awful hearing that three officers have fallen.

Yes - so tragic.

I am in Alberta, and we had 4 officers gunned down a few years back - but at least the shooter killed himself after, so we were not scared of a crazy gunman on the loose.

The suspect is now in custody, and the lockdown has been lifted.

Apparently, the suspect was crazy about guns and conspiracy theories, and also wanted notoriety. I agree with the suggestion of a local radio station - we should make sure to remember his victims, but not mention the suspect's name.

The deaths are tragic. I cried reading about how Const. Ross left a young son and a pregnant wife.

So tragic indeed! Shootouts like this happen very rarely in Canada. The shooter wasn't known to the police.

Of course, when something like this happens, the media looks instantly into the shooter's background, to understand what might have caused this tragedy. But I'm always a bit skeptic about that. In retrospective, it's always easier to say: oh his religious upbringing might have caused this, or that.

Yes, he was homeschooled, as well as the Seattle shooter.
