The Mallys in: The Case of the Lost Bibles

The father of the Mally family thought he had lost his precious bibles while getting ready for a convention. This was a crisis of such massive proportions that Grace suggested sending out a mass prayer e-mail.

*SPOILER ALERT!*

They found the bibles in their trailer. Our long national nightmare is finally over.

While I sympathize with anxiety induced by misplacing things, why on earth would these priceless family heirlooms not be home safe under lock and key?

"If Sarah really did leave it on the curb, than we knew it was likely stolen. People would assume it’s a laptop case. The parking lot outside the convention center has had so much theft that it even has signs up, warning people to lock their vehicles. And with so many people walking through the parking lot to the ballgame next door, it could have been quickly spotted and taken."

I love how this was in italics, like it's so usual. Guess what? Convention center parking lots are always places you should lock your car. The convention center prob just had friendly reminders to lock up and to warn that they weren't liable if things were stole.

Try this Mally family, get a scanner, scan your father's bibles with your father's notes so you have them, leave the valuable bibles at home in a display case, and don't travel with such precious objects.

A fundie and his bibles are not easily parted.

I love how God is totally responsible for someone finding something that was never really lost in the first place.

Well, there is an app for that (actually several apps). My ministers have a tablet with various Bible and other church stuff on it.

You see, my dad carries three Bibles and his Strong’s Concordance in a black case almost everywhere he goes.

I used to own a Strong's Concordance. It is a very heavy book to lug around everywhere.

The article says that he normally won't let anyone carry the case with his books but just happened to let Sarah carry it that day. If it is that precious, why take it at all? Interesting that his first thought was that Sarah lost it and not that it was merely misplaced.

I remember taking Dad’s Bibles out to the van, but I was carrying a bunch of things and I suppose it’s *possible* I would have set the case down on the curb as I was trying to put it all in. But I made sure to lock the van, and I don’t know how I could have left the case on the curb!†she said.

If I was Sarah it would make me angry that they jumped to my losing the bible before they searched the entire damn van.

Why would the Lord allow these Bibles to be lost? I began praying for a miracle.

I have sympathy for their anxiety too but lots of bad things happen. Even if their god was real, it would make sense that some events are still just coincidences. There are children raped, families who starve to death and all matter of horrible things that happen in the world. Why would god ignore those problems just to hide their dad's bible from them? They even suggest that perhaps an angel snuck the bible in the trailer.

If Stephen would have been here, none of this would have happened,†mom said. “First, he would have been packing the trailer so you wouldn’t have been as stressed. Then …†and she continued to list some other reasons why.

“Well, it’s not Stephen’s fault we lost the Bibles!†I mentioned. [smile]

But we did all know that Stephen, our family Sherlock Holmes, would probably have figured out the problem right away. (I wonder how many other tragedies our family would have experienced in the last 10 years had Stephen not been traveling with us!)

Poor Stephen, he can't go on about his life and career without his family falling apart .

he box just happened to fall out of the back of the trailer because their father forgot to do something with its brakes. It doesn't sound as if it would have been hard to find if they actually took the time to look.

Yeah coz he got his super secure gay porn in there :cracking-up: I read her blog for the first time today and it was the most boring, childish piece of shit I have ever read, i wasted 15 minute of my life that I will never get back, trying to find ANY BLOODY THING at all interesting. I will be in my corner recovering, and am taking my 'grape juice' with me ( at least mine cost $20/bottle and only coz Lori made me drink all the good shit... :pull-hair:

I also sometimes get anxiety over misplaced items. But I agree with others, there are some things you just leave at home. As another poster mentioned, tablets are being used quite a bit by pastors. I'm FB friends with a former co-worker's son who is a pastor and he uses his iPad quite a bit for Bible and church stuff.

I highly recommend the You Version Bible app by Lifechurch TV. It's available for free on iTunes, Google Play, and Windows 8 store.. You can download versions for offline reading, create your own reading plan, take notes, and has lots of other features. I have it on my laptop, tablet, and cell phone (for church and my own reading...I don't "witness" people). Maybe the Mallys should give modern technology a try.
