Women Selling Used Pregnancy Tests on Craigslist

I'm in a snarky mood today, so I decided to post this in honor of Mother's Day:

How long do those idiots who spend $25-$30 on bogus tests seriously think they can keep a ruse like that going? A few months and then tearfully lie that they miscarried, after they have an engagement ring or boyfriend's moved in?

Ladies, if you have to resort to trickery like that to make a guy commit to you, then he probably isn't worth it in the first place.

Nothing based on lies ever turns out well.

I wonder if there's a boom in business around April 1 each year. ;)

The ad being so la-di-da about people using it to manipulate others bothers me -- doing it as a prank, okay, fine, whatever, if that's something that flies in your family/marriage/whatever then fine. But doing it to make a boyfriend pop the question is another matter.

Nice, ladies. Really nice. I don't know who disgusts me more - the buyers or the sellers.

I'd say the buyers. It takes some ingenuity (a twisted kind, admittedly) to even think to sell the tests in the first place. But why would you BUY one of the things? April Fools? A pricey and rather unkind joke. To manipulate someone? Really sick.

Good point.

This just makes me think of a video i saw on youtube a few weeks ago:

A radio host attempted to trick his cohost here with a positive test last year. He dared her to take a pregnancy test on the air and got someone who was pregnant to take the test so he could switch it out. Turns out, he told his producer the plan and she told the girl so the girl reacted really happily and was over the top about it and the guy playing the prank felt really bad. It was all then revealed when he started to feel guilty about it.

he should feel guilty about it, there is a lot of couples that try and try and can not get pregnant. :penguin-no:

Also has anyone but me thought that some of the buyers are men ?

I met a woman in college, in the late 80s, who would tell guys she was pregnant to shake them down for abortion money--which she'd pocket. usually a one night stand or short term relationship, a guy who would hand over the money to be rid of her, etc. I viewed her then as I viewed Lorri Alexander's tale of damaging her contraceptive-- dishonest and manipulative.

A lot of disgusting people, male and female, out in the world.

I once met a woman who a blond, white, gorgeous with a killer figure. Single with two kids who were obviously half black and very tall and lean, and she freely admitted that their father was a married black pro basketball player that she'd had a long term affair with. Later I learned the real truth about her from the friend who introduced us.

Blondie sought out the basketball player because she knew he liked white women of her type. She got with him, and had his baby while agreeing to keep it a secret if he paid her bills. When he found out she was pregnant for the second time, she then wanted her bills paid and some extra money besides. He cut her loose with the promise of generous monthly payments as long as she kept silent. So she moved to a remote small town in another state and rented out a house that had a barn and land so she could do what she really wanted to do, which was raise horses. He kept paying her the monthly payments, but never had contact with the children and part of their agreement was that she never tell anyone who the kids father was, contact him again, or ask for more money.

I never figured out how she managed it, but she was on welfare, full ride. She got a monthly stipend for housing and utilities, full healthcare for the kids, and food stamps. She never got a job, her kids never knew who their father was, and apparently CSD saw an address for a house out in the sticks so they figured that it wasn't much of a place. Actually, the place was pretty small, but because of the land that came with it she misreported the amount of rent she paid. Her kids were dressed in clothing that suggested that she wasn't stinting them on that, so I guess she wasn't dressing them from Goodwill.

Anyway, the next thing I learned was that the money she got from babydaddy wasn't enough, so she'd started a new line of business. She would troll the local bars during her fertile period and find a guy who looked handsome and fit, then spend some time trying to find out if he had any health issues or had been vasectomized. If the guy passed her inspection, she'd have sex with him.

When she got pregnant, she'd wait until she was past three months along and then advertise the baby for adoption. She'd go through the prospective couples and pick the lucky winner based on how much money they'd pay. She'd have them send money for rent, doctor's bills, etc all through the pregnancy and then hand over the baby when it was born. For all I know, she was stringing along multiple families.

When I met her, she'd recently given up her fourth child (not counting the two oldest) to a couple in California. She talked about how she'd told them that it would be easier for her to give up the baby if she had met them, so she spent the last month of the pregnancy in a nice hotel while her mother had her kids from the basketball player. While she was 'bonding' with the adoptive parents, she was also spending time shopping. She bragged that she came back with a new pickup and a four-hourse trailer that was packed full of horse related items, all given to her by the adoptive parents as a little thank you gift.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

You know what I hate most about subtle racism? The gaslighting. Stop cosplaying as a nice person and say it with your chest.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
