One of the Duggars going to college?

Recommended Posts

I was reading over at Cynical Jinx's Sister Wives blog and a commenter on the May 1 post (Anonymous, May 2, 2:08 PM) claims that a Duggar girl is going to the University s/he works for.

Oh please, oh please, oh please let this be true. Could Jill be taking some real, true nursing/medical/midwifery courses? Or, heck, gen-ed courses would be just as happy-making.

Since she wants to be a midwife it would make sense for her to get some university level medical courses I would think.

I don't care who, but it would be great if Jill were going for nursing. She just seems to love it so much, and getting that degree would make her world. However, it would also be awesome if Jinger were going (to a school in a big city. Picture her at NYU!). I hope Jim Bob's season of "F-U internetz" continues.

ETA: Oh, well it sounds like a local school. Still hope it's Jill!

University of Arkansas is less than an hour from their house. It is a regular 4 year college and Jill could be taking some classes to get her CNM instead of being an LLM.

Hard to believe, and I don't yet, but I hope it's true. Perhaps Josiah, mystery sister, Ben, and/or Derick are attending? I doubt any Duggar would go alone.

I hope it's Jessa going to a community college for hairstyling. She would love it and it would give her a skill and earning potential to fall back on. But I think it's probably Jill taking a few courses to supplement her midwifery program.

is it just me, or has a lot of change been happening since gothard resigned? i love it.

IF Jessa and Ben do get married and move out here, Hot Springs has a beauty college. They get experience cutting real peoples hair and doing nails and whatever else (do all beauty colleges do that?) They don't get paid to do it unless the person getting it done gives a tip. Anyway, I think that would be great for Jessa.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Yes... it's May... and if some Duggar child has been taking college classes somewhere, we would have heard about it before the end of the semester. There's no way that would have been kept totally quiet that long. The person who said that on cynicaljinx is likely lying for attention. (Ok, I suppose there's a small chance it could be true... but I would be really surprised).

Yeah, right. J'Chelle and Boob's kids are smart without proper education. Or they think.

Maybe she is taking online classes? We might not have heard about that?

I haven't read the blog or the comments, but could they mean that a Duggar has enrolled for next semester? Now is when most colleges are starting their sign up periods for Fall of 2014.

Most likely. I'm working towards my masters and I've seen the posted stuff around my university in preparation for orientation in June-ish.

I happy to hear anyone might be going to college but I do not think it is Jill. In the last 6 weeks she has given 2 interviews that she talks about her online training program (along with her hands on training). She has stated both times her online college is in Texas and it matches up perfectly to the description of the Christian midwife program for missionaries in TX.

This is the quote from cynicaljinx's site:

"I live near the Duggar family and they actually have (armed) guards at their gate. But, I do see the kids and the parents around town (mostly at Sams) and if the parents are with the older girls, I say hello. I don't talk to the kids because it just doesn't seem right. Likewise, I teach at the University where one of the girls takes a few classes and where one of their cousins has attended and I don't see other students trying to impose upon the girls. Even when I have run into mom and dad Duggar and I speak to them, they always respond and if I were a huge fan and asked for a picture, I'd be willing to bet they would accommodate me. No one goes on the Duggar's property uninvited because of the guards, so I suppose it is time for the Browns to recognize their "celebrity" and hire some security."

(bolding mine).

She's implying that one of the girls is already at a bricks/mortar college now.... I find it hard to believe that one of them has already been taking classes at a bricks/mortar school and the word didn't get out yet.

I'm cynical, and assuming that they mistaking college/university for the college-plus and other "alternative" forms of schooling/training (in Duggarspeak) that the young adults in the family go for. If they are at a true university (I see that the University of Arkansas in Fayateville is near them) than I'm doubting they're fully enrolled as a full time or even part time student, rather just one or two courses, although that would certainly be better than nothing.

Where one of their cousins has attended? Amy's the only cousin on their father's side of the family. Wasn't Michelle the only one who stayed behind when her immediate family moved to Ohio? I find it hard to believe that there could be cousins on her side of the family local to them that haven't been mentioned on the show before.

Armed guards?? I had no idea. Is this true, does anyone know?

AFAIK, they do have a security gate with intercom and have likely put the boys to work fencing off the perimeters of the property. I doubt they have guards. They're not THAT important.

Amy is the only cousin who would be recognizable as a Duggar. It's possible she took a couple classes at the local CC years ago, but certainly nothing within the last 5 years that the show has been on regularly, and her movements easily trackable via social media.

I would think that *IF* any of the kids were allowed to take college classes locally, it would be at John Brown University rather than the U of A.

I remember Amy used to have that she attended College on her facebook. I can't remember which one; not from near there so it didn't stick with me. She later deleted it and then later on made her Facebook page private. Not sure if her College disappeared because she quit or was asked to leave.

There was a guy cousin on Michelle's side that was helping Josh at his car lot on one episode. I don't remember his name, but could be him.

I was going to say the same thing. I remember this guy and have always wondered if we would see another Ruark cousin. With six siblings, there must be a few cousins, right?

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
