Which of the Duggar kids will continue the 1-Letter Names?

Obviously Smugs is, but who else will.

I could see JD wanting to name one of his sons a junior. He'd also be likely to want to name a son after his father. So he may end up continuing with the J'names.

Jana, I don't think would. I think if she ever marries, she'll want to give her kids a little more individuality.

Jill I can totally see doing it. Not sure what letter she'd pick, though, but I could see her going with J or D names (or both, one for each gender or every other kid).

Jessa and Jinger, I can't see doing it. I get the feeling they hate the J'names.

Joseph, maybe, but it's hard to say.

Josiah, no. He'd also want his kids to have a little more individuality.

Joy, no, not after have a name so similar to two of her siblings.

Jed and Jer, no, for the same reasons as Joy.

Not sure about the rest, though.

I don't think any of the others will do it, because it is so stupid. I think Josh continued that tradition because, as the oldest, he was most anxious to please, most identified with his father, and had been most immersed in ATI/Gothard.

I think the trend might fade as time goes by. Kind of like how the skirts have gotten shorter. I think it will be a Duggar that gets married in 5 years or more that starts a new trend. I bet it will be an A B C trend or some Bible names that are significant.

Any of the Duggar kids getting birth specials or having their pregnancy televised I bet will go along with the naming trend.

It also might depend on who they marry. Maybe Derrick wants to name a child after his father who passed away and the letter doesn't fit.

I am curious to see if Jill marries in June and Jessa maybe next year and they both start having kids, will they both get birth specials?, today show appearances? Is average today show of GMA viewer going to want to see Anna, Jessa, and Jill and and other married Duggar come on every time they are expecting?

I hope not all of them do. By the time the littlest ones are thinking about having babies, all the good letters will be gone, and they will be stuck with ones which have about a page or two in the baby name book, and obviously they aren't going to like all of those names.

I think at some point I'm going to go and pick out 19 names, boy and girl, for each letter. I think it would be interesting to see what I could come up with.

My guess is there will be appearances for first babies, maybe for seconds, and if all three are pregnant at the same time.

Taking a look at the alphabet, only the last Duggar to have kids (assuming they all use the same system, and never reuse a letter) will have issues with naming. 18 kids are easily accommodated in the alphabet. It is the last kid that would be left with Q, U, V, W, X, Y, or Z to choose from. The rest of the letters have a reasonable number of names in which to choose.

I doubt any of them will stick with J names. There aren't too many left that aren't too similar or too "unique." And I don't think the kids are going to do anything like J'Shawn or J'Louise.

I also don't know how many of them actually like having matching names themselves. That will have a lot of influence on whether they continue the trend or not.

I would choose V. There are a resonable number of V names, especially for girls.

ETA : I bet they'll use unique names too. Get ready for Vayden, Wayden and Zayden Duggar :)

It would be such an innocuous form of rebellion, to NOT stick with same letter names, that I think it would be very telling to go back in 25 years and look into it.

I'll be almost 80. In case I'm not still here, avidly following FJ, someone set up a calendar reminder to do that for me, ok?

Would that really be a form of rebellion? I don't think they expect their kids to use single letters names. I think Josh did it because he wants to be like his father.

Sadly, that's not even true. "J" is one of the most common letter names, and the duggars picked names like "Jinger" and "Johannah" before far more common names

Fairly common boy names: Jasper, Jaden, Jesse, Jared, Julian, Jeremy, Jameson, Jax, Jimmy, Jonas, Jake, Jack, Joe, Jordan, Jeffrey, Jay

Fairly common girl names: Jaqueline, Jade, Jessica, Juliana, Jillian, Jane, Janelle, June, Jamie, Jocelyn, Jaycee, Jamie, Justice, Janet, Justine, Josephine, Jeanette, Jodie, Janice, Joyce, Jean, Judy

15 Names more Biblical than Jinger: Jacob, Judith, Judas, Justus, Jonah, Joel, Jericho, Jared, Julia, Jewel, Jasper, Jael, Joanna, Jezebel, Jude

Anyways, my point is, there are plenty of names to go around and certainly more than enough that Joy-Anna co have avoided having a sister names JoHannah.

The woman who occasionally babysits my kids has five of her own. They all have Z names- Zanadia, Zaraiah, Zarione, Zakhar (the only boy), and Zahara.

Yes, this. If any of them are like Josh and stay involved with the show they'll probably do it.

Jill I can see doing it either way just because she's such a cheerleader and corny like that.

Jana--probably not.

Jinger--no way.

Jessa--can go either way. I get the feeling she won't be involved in the show much once she's out of that house, and I'd assume she personally dislikes the 1 letter naming trend. But she also comes off as the most defensive of her family's beliefs...I can see her cutting off her nose to spite her face and doing it as a way of telling people to fuck off.

Joy--she's still young enough that the jury's still out, but I'll go with no.

I don't pay any attention to the boys so no real opinions there. If I had to I'd put my money on Josiah and JD as the ones to keep with the trend.

Jessa will. After all her children will have chaste courtships and letter names.

Jill more than likely the letter may be D. She may pick a theme like names of countries ie Spain, Monaco, and Nigeria. However I like to believe that the name will most likely rhyme she does like to rhyme lately but not as much as she loves Derrick she may name them all some variation of Derrick ie Prince Michael Derrick, Derrmajesty, Derrick Jim, and Derrick Renee.

The Duggars clearly wanted some out of the ordinary names. That is the only way they got to child number whatever before having a JENNIFER. I'm older than Josh and younger than JB&M, so maybe the name wasn't super popular then, but for my generation, everyone is named Jennifer. I seriously have a sister in law named Jennifer, my best friend growing up was Jennifer, my brother is marrying a Jennifer, and I'm sure there are others in my life that I'm forgetting! I've always thought it was funny that they had a JINGER before Jennifer.

Derrmajesty is my new favorite name. Thank you.

Wonder why they skipped over the biblical heroine Jael?

Too much of a badass. Can't be giving women any sort of feeling of empowerment now.

Also, I was born 3 years after Josh. Jennifer was still a popular name at the time, I've met several my own age. Never met a Jana or a Jill within my peer group though.

One one episode of I Love Lucy, Lucy was trying to decide on a baby name. She told Ricky that she wanted the name to be unique and euphonious. Ricky said that that sounded fine: Unique if the baby was a boy and Euphonious if the baby was a girl.

(Wish I could find the clip. I may have the names backward.)

ITA, though I'm 4 years old than Josh. Lots of Jennifers when I went to school, along with Jennys, Jenns and Jennas.

For the entire decade, the top 2 girl named are J-names. Jessica and Jennifer. The following decade, Jessica was still #1, and Jennifer was #16.

No Jessica in the bunch of Duggars, and finally a Jennifer.

Don't forget they have a Joseph, James, Jill, Johanna/Joyanna, which are all variations of those names. There are some pretty standard ones in there, and otherwise they like to play with common names (Jessa instead of Jessica, Jana instead of Jane, etc). Some of those are also only common today, like Jaycee and Jax.

I'm not sure if the Bates are any worse with names like Judson and Jeb, although at least they have more than a few letters.

Do fundies (and other Christians) ignore the name Judas, because of its connotations in the Bible?

My guess is that it will continue for a little while then die off around the time they stop getting so much attention. I also wouldn't be surprised if some of the children never marry (John David comes to mind) so there might not be 19 letters needed.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
