Pastor Bob Coy, founder and leader of a Florida megachurch supported by 20,000 members has resigned his position after admitting to a “moral failing’ to the church board. According to the Phoenix Preacher blog, Coy is reported to have confessed to at least two affairs in the past year alone and has had a long standing “problem with pornography.†http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/04/07/popular-florida-megachurch-leader-rumored-to-have-addiction-resigns-for-moral-failings/

He looks a lot like Kevin Nealon.

My mind immediately flashed to the last episode of the 2nd (?) season of Weeds, where the wildfire is coming to burn down Agrestic, and the Jesus freaks are in one room praying and wailing and Doug (Kevin) is walking around with his guitar, subliminally enticing people to buy weed..."Oh where there's fire, people like to smoke...oh where there's fire, people like to toke..." Gosh I love that character.

I'm really upset at this news. Angry even. For some reason, I thought Bob Coy was the real deal. Not perfect in all his thoughts and ideals, but at the very least able to keep it in his pants. My family gets on me because I don't go to church, but really why bother with the charade. The church "leaders" are more morally corrupt then their congregants.

Well, Pearl, I had to learn that same lesson about someone I admired. I supported and defended Senator John Edwards, nearly to the bitter end. Now, when I hear that someone is a pastor of a mega-church, my thoughts immediately go to, "I wonder what his scandal will be? Sex, money or both?"

To go slightly off topic, I've never understood why people liked Edwards in the first place. I remember back when he and Kerry were running several family members of mine from outside of NC said how much they liked Edwards. Even back then I thought he was slimy.

That said, I'm sure everyone's found out something disappointing about someone they admired. It seems universal.

I'm from NC. I'd met him several times. I knew his ex-wife, as well. We volunteered at a charity together. So I let that influence my opinion. But yeah, looking back, I can see that I was totally snowed.

I think that people inherently believe others are good, or at the very least are how they present themselves. Bob Coy was the last in the pastors in my lives to fall, but I'm taking this the hardest.

Part of it is how the community is presenting Bob as the victim instead of his wife and his congregation who believed him. Bob apparently had multiple affairs (not just one), and he's the victim? The Christian community is hand slapping anyone who is calling him out on his moral turpitude, and yet they vilify and condemn others for their lifestyle choices? Why not give Bob Coy the same ire as was given to Bill Clinton for his sin of adultery? Hypocrites, all of them. Oh wait - Bob is sorry and is repenting so everything is okay. This only seems to work with religious leaders, the rest of the world is SOL.

I still believe in God, but I believe that God wants us to love and serve others with humility and kindness, not go to a church and become part of a club. Why in the world would I want to "sit" under someone who only speaks with his mouth and not with his heart and actions? (something I wish I could tell my family). I'm really close to just telling them the truth. It is hard though, because I love my family and fear losing them.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

You know what I hate most about subtle racism? The gaslighting. Stop cosplaying as a nice person and say it with your chest.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
