Jimmy Fallon Jokes About Duggar Courtship

At about 4:35, Jimmy Fallon pokes fun at Ben asking Jessa to court.

Looking at the scene again, I'm convinced this courtship was not staged, in my personal opinion. After Ben asks Jessa, she freezes, as if she's thinking of what the "right" thing to do. She's probably trying to think about what she read in the prince charming book. She stares at Michelle for a second, before she awkwardly decides to hug her, then JB says that she can hug Ben for 30 seconds. They weren't even comfortable enough with each other to give a side hug; she had to get permission first.

From their perspective, it's probably down.

I had to explain to my husband and daughter what side hugging is or why hugging front to front is considered wrong in that culture. They both just gave me puzzled, what the fuck looks. I've discussed fundies with you guys so long that I had forgotten how really weird the side hugs are.

Wait, did that seriously happen? Can't watch the video right now.

What happens at 31 seconds? Penises get involved in side hugging? By 60 seconds of side hugging, could you be pregnant?!?

I hope that mainstream media exposure like Jimmy Fallon continues to spotlight how extreme Duggar views are. Hell, Bates kids are allowed way more (chaperoned) physical contact with their significant others than the Duggarlings are.

Here's Alyssa FRONTHUGGING John Webster when they started courting:

Bates gone wild!

At least they can touch without being made to feel guilty. I feel so sorry for Jessa being made fun of because her father is such a weirdo. Not here, but having that clip shown as comedy would hurt if she knew.

So many people watch the show as a train wreck anyway that this is nothing new. Her parents chose this for her and her siblings.

This brings up a question:

Wouldn't the kids over 18 (or is majority 19 in Arkansas? It is in my state) be able to refuse to appear? I would think once they are adults they would have to sign their own releases with TLC.

I find it pretty sad that Jessa, an adult, has to ask permission for even a side hug. Why not say, "damn it, I like the guy, I am hugging him!" or better yet "Ben has to talk to me personally, butt out".

Agree that if she knew about the clip, it would bother her.

And I would be flat out ashamed of having some like JB as my dad. While I do think he loves his daughters, his pranks and idea of what's funny is really immature. He's still the 19 year old that he was when he got married.

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

You know what I hate most about subtle racism? The gaslighting. Stop cosplaying as a nice person and say it with your chest.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
