Darby's hair is lovely for the wedding.

It's the modern version of the Bradrick! and DPIAT pew shot.

OMFG that guy is SUCH a nerd. He's like...the LARPer at your local community college who walks around in a trench coat with his fencing gear and randomly breaks out into weird play acting. That was just a million kinds of awkward.

ETA: Look! That's the FLAG! That's the Star of David! (OMG DID HE JUST SAY FABULOSO?!!!!) WOW! Also, Stephen Kendricks' wife looks a LOT younger than him?

His weird crooked mouth bugs me as much as his fake accents.

He can't do much about the shape of his mouth but he could quit with the stupid fake accents!

I'm not finding it this morning but yesterday there was a photo of a lovely guest who SO resembled The Person Possibly Formerly Known As Hero -- dimples, long brown hair in a banana curl, nice straw hat. Made me jump. Also a Scotty Brown look-alike. And seeing RC Sproul, Sr., prompted me to serendipitously find an article that lays blame for Spanky Sproul's messed-up behavior on bad parenting.

It made me say a prayer for Darby and her hubby. And for her sibs. In addition to the loss of her momma, those kids have some weird family dynamics to overcome. No wonder Spanks and Toolio are bonding...

Saw that young woman's photo as well & had the same reaction. Upon seeing several more photos of her in the online gallery -- different views & in color as well as BW -- don't think it's that young woman although she looks familiar somehow.

Re: wedding. A lovely one by most standards - nice dress/hair/makeup for Darby, great church setting, cute mini-attendants & good dresses for the bridesmaids. Looks like everyone had a good time, too, which is important.

Agree though that R.C. Jr. needs to give up on the kilt - he is not now and probably never was a Jamie Fraser!

Many dresses that would be totally unacceptable in VF/NCFIC circles.

I'd give anything to know the playlist at the reception. I'm willing to bet it was "Coghlan-esque," and that Doug and Beall endured it while gritting their teeth. I couldn't spot any of their kids dancing with the other young people.

I've just been through all the pics too, and agree that the young woman with the hat and long braid is definitely not our Hero.

The Phillipses seem to have made a concerted effort to avoid the camera's lens at this event. With the exception of the JTitsUp shot in the receiving line, and the one of Dougie and RC at the bride-and-groom-driving-away portion of the event, they kept a very low profile. There's one of daughter Liberty (? I think) wearing an unfortunate shade of dark green, and a couple of sightings of little Virginia, but that's about all.

I did spot one pic of Becky Morecraft sitting at the reception. Oh, to have been a fly hiding in the centerpiece on that table!

I think Darby made a really pretty bride, and I wish them joy. It must have been tough for her to get through that day in the absence of her mom. I join with MJB in prayers for her family. And I feel very sorry for the Phillips kids.

The dresses on the bride and her attendants, the little groomsmen, the church, dang, even the bride's hair were beautifully done. That was also a truly touching tribute to her mother. Just...well done.

I could have totally done without seeing R.C. Spanky MacSproul in the kilt, but I suppose every wedding has to have a least one embarrassing relative to keep it memorable.

Aww, poor Dougie. He's lost his empire, his good name (snort), his costume collection, and now he's lost his pretty. Will the indignities never end?

The way Sproul is looking at DPIAT in that photo, the thought occurred to me that among the men-folk in the movement, it might be completely forgiveable to have a fling outside of marriage because, afterall, they ARE men, and maybe even something to be congratulated in a twisted way. Like secretly they are a little envious of the man who cheats, and if they could there would be much celebrating.

I think that Joshua and Darby must be good friends and that is why the entire family was invited. JT didn't make his twitter account private until we spoke about its connection to Darby's account.

Even though I dislike the family's theology, I hope that the couple have a happy marriage.

I don't know....being married to Darby?????? I keep thinking that groom is coming back from the honeymoon in a body bag....

(referencing Seinfeld there)

World Magazine has removed the name of the young woman in question from the article. Rather late and a bit like grabbing the cat by the tail and stuffing it back in the bag after everyone has seen it but better than nothing. It was wrong to out her.

Julie Anne at SSB is rather patting herself on the back about getting the name removed. From the comments prior to the announcement:

spiritualsoundingboard.com/2014/03/29/attempting-to-set-the-doug-phillips-record-straight-part-3-the-timeline/#comments

Oh dear, Julie Anne. If you mean FJ, we are a forum and that "even" wasn't very nice. We always support victims here and have not been critical of you in all of this. On the contrary.

If she doesn't mean us, what website (not blog) am I missing that has all the juicy gossip?

Well, my my, isn't Julie Anne being a little bit snooty.... We do important work here on FJ and yes, we occasionally laspe into Alan Rickman worship, but still, we are a forum where it's all about the discussion. It can be wild, crazy, and a bit of a free for all at times, but don't doubt us. I think she's just jealous of us because we have more fun.

My uncle just died from COVID. He wasn’t that much older than I am, so I kind of grew up with him. Just ten days ago my mom had been pleading with him to get vaccinated, but he wanted to wait to make sure the shots were really safe. I’m kind of devastated.

I just found out my little bonus kid is in a treatment center on a suicide watch tonight. He and I share a hobby and a couple weeks back he opened up to me that he's severely depressed and was wanting to hurt himself. I let his parents know and thankfully he had also been talking to them. I'm just heartbroken because him being in this center means that his parents had to call 911 and have him admitted and I know that was so hard for them to do. He's a young kid and has his whole life ahead of him but just wants to end it all and I don't know how to help him.

Middle aged woman with mommy issues...but missing her today.
She got so much wrong with me, but she had the best intentions and tried so hard.
She got so much right, too.  I forget that sometimes.  Sometimes I remember and dismiss it out of spite.
“They did the best they could with the tools they had.”  I forgot where I first heard that but I’ve carried it with me like a mantra since my parents passed.   They truly did.  Whatever else was missing, whatever I needed that they couldn’t give, the love was always there.

      Always.
      That’s something.
My confidence in my own abilities.  Faith in my own power.  My own strength.  They gave me that, too.
      That’s also something.
They’re why I’m messed up, but they’re also why I’m okay.

      Shit’s complicated.
She died before I figured out how smart she really was.  Sad thing is I don’t think ever figured that out for herself.
Ignore me - just crying in my car waiting to pick up my son.
