Mardi Gras King Cake

Last night I got ambitious and made a King Cake (from scratch too!) for Mardi Gras. I never really knew about them having being born, raised and living all my life in the Midwest, but was introduced to them by a coworker who brought one into work a few years ago. I did make one from a mix once, but this is the first time I actually made the whole thing from scratch using a recipe found in the local paper. I wasn't sure how it would turn out but actually looks pretty good though Mr. No and I actually will try it later tonight.

The cake has a filling made of cinnamon and brown sugar mixed in with a small amount of cream cheese plus pecans (gleaned legally I assure you). It also called for raisins but I omitted those. I understand King Cakes come with different types of fillings but the cinnamon type filling is the most traditional from what I understand.

Anyone else having or making a King Cake for Mardi Gras this year?
