...In Making SSM Idea of Utopia.

And pretty much making pretty much my idea of hell.

Seriously, WTF? What made SSM so completely off the fucking rails?

This woman is sick, sick, sick, sick, sick.

I posted a response, asking why they just didn't make women property again, like prior to the 1890s. ETA: We'll see if it sees the light of day. I predict not.

OK, so she said adultery and fornication should be punished by law? So , she and her husband would be in jail, based on what we've read on her page, as she said they had sex before marriage and he screwed around with anyone who would let him?

Basically, she's just spouting the tea party, Rush Limbaugh, Gary North and Theonomist party line, or combining them a bit.

She may or may not believe it, but it is becoming more common thought.

I heard from a relative the bit about women not voting and I decided not to talk to him on Xmas about it.... but my main thought is a divorce would make him feel a lot better about the world. But I'm not sure that is right.

Repeal marital rape laws – not because men are just dying to rape women (they aren’t) but because these laws give women the mistaken impression that they have the right to refuse sex with their husbands.

I think that what SSM advocates should be considered preaching hatred against women.

and

Why: Outside of cases of actual physical abuse, women mostly use these laws to rebel against male authority. However, in order for men to protect their families and communities, they need the cooperation and obedience of the women under their protection. Additionally, a man cannot lead a family if he has no authority over that family, including the authority to mete out discipline as needed for the purpose of maintaining an orderly home.

and

Decriminalize polygyny, by which I mean make it not illegal for men to be legally married to more than one woman.*

Why: This will be beneficial because a wife who is not living up to her traditional feminine duties will soon find herself having to share her husband’s resources with another woman. Most men won’t want the hassle of supporting two wives if they’re getting what they want and need from one wife, so women will have an incentive to provide what their husbands want and need. This would also improve the quality of men, who would have to compete with one another for access to wives.

I am actually not against polygamy but her/his reasonings are quite sick

Repeal the Nineteenth amendment. Do not permit women to vote at the national or state level; permit land-owning female heads of household to vote at the local level.

Why: Women tend to vote for the redistributionist policies that promote artificial egalitarianism and the abandonment of traditional sex roles.

I think there is just a language barrier but I read through comments and many of them wish that a state/government should not interfere with marriage. Ok. But many of them also wish that divorce should be more difficult than bankruptcy.

Umm...a marriage should not be registered but at the same time divorce should be hard to get? I don't see how that promotes marriage. I personally would stay unmarried and live in cohabitation. If marriage is not registered and thus not legally bonding, why should I go through marriage rituals?

SSM doesn't believe that men can commit adultery. Once again, the fault lies entirely with the woman. This is her way of rationalizing her husband's affairs and her choice to stay with him - it was those whores who agreed to sleep with him who are the problem, not HHG himself. It's very clear that HHG has emotionally abused her to the point where she 1) feels like she has to stay with him and 2) makes excuses for his shitty behavior to the point of not acknowledging that he was ever really at fault for anything.

I read Jon Krakauer's Under the Banner of Heaven, where he talks about polygyny in in fundamentalist mormon circles. Demographically, it creates problems because powerful men in their 50s-60s are threatened by young, adolescent boys, who are then excommunicated and cast out of the communes for minor infractions. If polygyny were legal in the "biblical" highly patriarchal system SSM would like to see, the most powerful men would accumulate dozens of wives in their early teens, young girls would be traded back and forth to solidify alliances, and boys would probably be outcasted, creating a highly unstable, very violent society.

I may be off base with this - perhaps someone who knows more about Islam can fill in the gaps - but I've read that the Prophet Muhammed allowed polygyny because the gender ratio had become really skewed by war.

My final thought is that SSM obviously hates women. It wouldn't surprise me if she felt threatened by her own daughters and wanted them to be as miserable and soul-crushed as she is. She certainly doesn't advocate happiness in life choices and marriage. It would be poetic justice if all four of them graduated high school, emancipated themselves from HHG and SSM and went off to have happy, fulfilling lives on their own terms.

This crazy old coot. Listen SSM, why don't you just let the rest of the world happen around you? Who's telling you that you can't live your creepy, miserable life the way you want? My headship would LITERALLY NEVER say that women shouldn't be allowed to vote, do you believe you know better than a man? Because I don't think your worldview distinguishes between alphas and betas in terms of voting rights, you moronic hypocrite.

Sunshine Mary DOES hate women. When her husband's affairs were aired out, I think she decided she was going to blame the women he slept with instead of putting the blame where it actually needs to be.

Her husband is a sexual deviant and an adulterer. The women he slept with were in the wrong, but she wasn't married to them HHG is the one who said the vows, and promised to stay faithful. Combine his rampant sexual immorality with SSM's desire to have other Red Pill men fawn all over her via her comment section, and you've got the kind of posts we're talking about here.

She blames women for her husband acting like a moron. She's also a moron if she honestly thinks he's stopped screwing around. I'll bet dollars to donuts he's had at least a dozen more sexual encounters with other women since her MRA awakening.

No, that's Lori Alexander. Equally misogynist and twisted, though.

Am I the only one that thinks Shitstain Mary, Monster Alexander, and Zsu Zsu Anderson are all the same person? I mentally lump them together, because I feel like they all spout the exact same bullshit. And it's kind of hard to care after their 20th misogynistic post. They only ever seem to want to talk about one thing and it gets old after awhile. At least other fundie women talk about different (albeit equally horrible) topics once in awhile.

#3 makes me really mad.

#7 doesn't make sense. I think what she (or he???) is trying to say is that the man earns a paycheck, taxes are deducted for social programs, women suck up those social program resources. But if needy women went to their respective churches for help, wouldn't the money still come from hard-working men?

I kind of agree with #9, at least for school. I probably would have done better in high school if I wasn't so worried about what to say to That Special Guy who sat next to me in English. Though as a nurse, I can think of lots of work-related activities that aren't particularly dainty and feminine.

What the what???

I always feel like I've fallen down the Margaret Atwood rabbit hole when I'm silly enough to click over to SSM's site. It frightens me to realize that there are people out there among us who believe these things--could be the random stranger behind me in line at the grocery store, or my kid's soccer coach, or my hair stylist. Growing up fundie made me paranoid and suspicious about people's hidden agendas, and shit like this only reinforces it. It's no wonder I have serious trust issues. SSM is a whackadoodle of the first order, and her fawning minions are just :cray-cray:

5. Remove women from the military, police, and all other first-responder positions.

Why: Protecting the tribe is a male sex role. Not only are women bad at these jobs, but it is demoralizing to men to have to deal with women in this capacity. It also puts an extra burden on the woman’s male colleagues, who will have a natural desire to protect her.

FUCK YOU SSM.

My mom is an advanced EMT. She trives in the job. She loves it, and she loves caring for people in some of the worst situations of their lives.

Now, while MEN CAN BE NURTURING AND CARING, and I've seen it, sometimes having a woman on that ambulance crew is a real blessing. Like when they are called to a rape. Or when they are called to a car accident and small children are hurt. Or when a family is really upset sometimes a woman can help calm things down. Or you just want someone eminently qualified and you don't give a fuck what's in their pants.

Now to be very clear, the 2 times I've personally called the ambulance in her area for help, the crews were all men. One of the men was incredibly kind and caring to my grandmother having a heart attack, and another man comforted and had my sister with an open fracture laughing. Men can do this too. Sometimes the assumptions we make about the genders just makes things a bit easier for a woman.

I would hate to see my mom's life without this job. She pulls her own weight, scrubs the ambulances with the men, lifts heavy cots and extra large people with the men.

Now years ago, it was a big deal that my mom would wear her uniform pants to church when on call. We are LDS. Pants are a big thing. :angry-banghead: One of the ladies :music-tool: who made the biggest stink about it ended up guess what.... needing an ambulance at home during church. My mom said she was her absolute most professional, :disgust: but amazingly no one peeped about her pants after that.

Oh, and SSM can kiss my white celulite ass about repealing marital rape laws. I am not a prostitute. I do not trade food and shelter for sex. I'm a wife. If we both want sex, we have it. If we don't, we don't. Sometimes I tell Mr. Beammeup he has to make it worth my while because I'm really not in the mood, and he does just that. But there are times when I say Not tonight honey, and that's not a bad thing.

See, these are the things you don't learn growing up in fundie land, but that everyone (including SO's) expects you to know. Thank you.

I don't know where to begin with this? No marital rape laws? Weaken domestic abuse laws to situations where there must be severe physical proof? Stop women from voting? How much crazier can this woman be? I wish I had a time machine to send these women back to the Utopia they believe the world to have been before feminism. They would change their minds so quickly!

I sent a news tip to Huff Post with a link to Sunshine Mary's blog. It might seem silly but I don't want her ideas to spread throughout the far right and become part of the mainstream Republican platform. A few years ago we wouldn't have thought that we would still be fighting about the right to an abortion or birth control so maybe shining a light on the beginnings of such extreme views will help. Or more likely, Huff Post will ignore my link.

Didn't Ann Coulter say that women shouldn't have the vote?

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
