Yep. The Bates and Duggars are nothing more than a bus full of slackivist. If they truly wanted to stop abortion, how about supporting education, especially for women? And like you said, welfare for mothers/child and access to birth control? From what we can tell, they are not fans of any of those things that help lower abortion rates.

Their narrow view on this (and what they want imposed on everyone) is no birth control or birth control education, no sex outside of marriage, no entitlements for single mothers, and two parent families creating soldiers for God as fast as possible.

Zach Bates, 25, the oldest sibling in a Lake City family of 19 children, is running for Anderson County mayor.

Bates, who became the county’s youngest elected official when he was voted in as a county commissioner four years ago, is running in the GOP primary May 6.

He’s trying to unseat incumbent Terry Frank, a Republican elected in 2012 to a special two-year seat to fill the remainder of former Mayor Rex Lynch’s term.

No Democratic candidates for the county’s highest office have emerged. Clinton resident Bradley Rickett on Tuesday qualified as an Independent and will be on the Aug. 7 county general ballot.

Bates describes himself as a “Christian and a conservative†and says he’s for “smaller government, efficient management of taxpayer dollars and small business growth and development.â€

He and his siblings, along with parents Gil and Kelly Bates, have appeared on television reality shows, including the TLC Channel’s “19 Kids and Counting.â€
