Candy from Joyful Christian homemaking

I'm not sure I've ever read Candy's blog. However I went to check it out and the first post I saw was a picture of her (?new) living room. Apparently her husband gave her permission to decorate the room however she pleased. I try not to be too judgement on the decor choices of others - not everyone has to like what I like (but really they should) but I can't find anything to like in her decor. The colours do not match or "go". The carpet is ugly. The area rug is too small. The couches look like burnt and possibly fungus-y marshmallows. The pictures are too small for the wall space and are arranged poorly. The only thing I can say that is positive is: it looks tidy. I feel a bit bad for thinking these things, after all I doubt Candy has the access to expert help/decor resources and information that I do but there you go. *shrugs, and walks back to the hive vagina*

Great a post about Candy :cracking-up:

I so miss the Sweeping the cobwebs times...

Yes, they have definitely moved. She used to have a home tour video, in October I had a look at it and it was a new trailer, no more the nice looking "Clayton home" she was soooo proud of.

About one week later, no more home tour... I guess she must have received questions about the downgrading and, in typical Candy's fashion decided to delete everything...

Her pictures are always tidy and her home is always well organized, but she doesn't have an eye for home decoration at all and I don't think it's related to have little money, she is not good at it plain and simple...

A bigger picture over the sofa and a coffee table in the middle of the room would help a bit. It all just looks so...unfinished.

As someone who is "decoratively challenged," I can't snark on her interior design; my house is done in a "Toys R Us/ Barnes and Noble mashup".

I am a clean and neat freak but this woman is seriously OCD to me. Her cleaning list is very detailed and thorough. I guess you have to be with many children. But I would rather visit her house than Zsu's.

Oh, no. Poor Candy. From a prefab to a double wide. I kinda really feel sorry for her. She's a hateful thing, but she is kinda Lady Lydia-ish to me - dreaming of a life she won't ever have

If you want to snark on something, look at this "guest post"

The Declaration of Independence says that I have a RIGHT to Pursue Happiness. Well, a RIGHT to something means I get to do it whether the Majority or the Government likes it or not, unless by doing it I am violating somebody else's Rights. Since choosing a "Substandard" Heath Care Plan, or no Heath Care Plan at all does NOT violate anybody else's Rights, then it is Government's DUTY to make sure that NOBODY, not even Obama, interferes with my RIGHT to do so. Did you know that it is YOUR DUTY to make sure that my Rights are not being violated by the Government, even if you are a Democrat? See the last half of this post for clarification as to YOUR duties.

The Declaration of Independence is the Law of this land.

The Declaration of Independence was entered into the United States code as Organic Law by the very first Congress.

The stupid hurts.

Sorry if this's has been mentioned before, but she has "The memoirs of Fanny Hill" in her yet-to reading list, I'm slightly gob smacked at that. Does she know that it's 18th century porn and not a wholesome, edifying read?

If it's the case that she did have to move (again), then I feel sorry for her. She was in love with that Clayton home, and it must've really hurt her to have to give it up. Does anyone know for certain that she moved? I never really paid that much attention to the details of her home tour.

Candy was my gateway fundie, and looking back, she is so tame and just sad compared to some of the others.

The living room reminds me of the day rooms in state psychiatric centers (think "The Snake Pit" with Olivia DeHavilland).

It looks pretty blah but I'm in no position to judge, I'm seriously impaired when it comes to interior decorating.

I saw the inspiration pictures she said she liked, and based on that, I think she could move closer to those if she did two things. 1) move all the small pictures and hang them gallery style over the sofa-- very trendy now and no need to buy a new bigger piece of artwork. 2) Bring more yellow into the room to match her walls and the yellow in the couches by using some yellow pillows on the couches. It would break up the dark blue of the couches and lighten up the room. I'd use some of the yellow fabric as a large throw on the double recliner, since I think it would be hard to slipcover it. These two things would make the room look closer to her country spring rooms in her inspiration. That said, she didn't ask my opinion, I have one room in my house that is still 90s burgandy and dark green that I'm sure would get a side eye were I to post it on a blog ( so I"m not one to be casting the first stone decor wise) and I say good on her for getting things she likes on her budget.

I am less worried about decor and how people look among these various people than I am how much influence their iffy belief has on the society where I live.

I'm pretty good at decorating (and clearly very modest...)

A few things that would make that room a little less waiting-room like, without spending any money:

1. Gather the pictures in a gallery-style set up on the back-wall

2. Move the 3-seater flowered "beauty" to the back-wall

3. Move the 2-seater flowered to the window wall, perpendicular (if in doubt call Michelle Duggar) to the 3-seater and push sidetable into the corner they create or in front of them.

4. If you want to keep the oatmeal-colored couch (and I can see why it would be practical in a house with children) move it to where that little sidetable is on the left.

5. Move workstation to right wall, under where the flower pic hangs now.

6. Turn area-rug around so that it visually streches the room sideways insted of reinforcing the long and narrow look.

If you are to spend money on one item:

7. Replace horrible up-light floorlamp!

Ah this is from Erik the wonderhubbie. He's batshit crazy too.

The room would look so much better if that carpet was ripped up, the beige sofa was donated & the computer was put in a taller all in one desk against the wall.

My issue with this line of logic is by choosing a "substandard" or no health care plan is that it does in fact effect me. Ignoring health issues because you can't afford to go to the doctor will cause more issues in the long run. And eventually when those issues become to big to ignore you go to the emergency room and end up not being able to pay the bill. When the hospital writes off the unpaid bill it increases how much I or my insurance need to pay. So yes, by willfully and gleefully stiffing the hospital on their bill you are making me pay more. For someone who doesn't like to be forced to pay for (insert uber-religious pet peeve of the day) because "they" caused their own situation you have no issue making other people pay for things that you cause. :angry-banghead:

My biggest issue with it is that the Declaration of Independence is NOT the law of land. Poor Candy and Erik's children. At least Zsu is literate.

Just read her blog. Wow, is she opinionated!! She seems to be an "it's all about ME" person. How many children does she have and is she pregnant now?

She has 4 children around ages 5 to 12. She is not quiverfull minded, and yes she is VERY opinionated. She loves Jack Chick, thinks she is the queen of homemaking, and is obsessed with her looks, especially her weight and "long, flowing hair." It's thick I tell ya, THICK, and she wants everyone to know that. She also says that MENSA has begged her to join for years.
