I can't remember now. I swear I saw something about someone being handcuffed, and the person asking what had happened.

Was she handcuffed? I thought she said they just gave her a ticket and took away her spy pen.

I'm not saying she should be charged with harassment - that's a bit much - but I feel like this whole 'let's crash fundie events and confront them' thing has crossed a line when people think it's okay to approach minor children and question them while wearing a spy camera. Seriously.

I don't think she was handcuffed. The police escorted her off the premises and took her pen, and said they would mail it back to her later.

I also don't think you should talk about crashing the event and questioning the Duggars on a public forum such as FJ beforehand either. I'm not against going to the event and meeting them, just be low key then post pics, video and your experience afterwards.

I don't entirely understand why it would be considered "crashing" the event at all if she was just showing up to a public event and behaving as a fan or just generally interested person would.

That said, the spy cam was pushing it and a bad idea.

I thought about why someone would conclude that we're trying to "harm" the duggars. I'm pretty sure whoever reads here in fundieland thinks we are Satan incarnate and want to harm the children's souls. We are trying to "turn them away from Jesus" and what he apparently wants. What they don't realize is that their idea of what Jesus wants is bogus.

So yeah, from their perspective, we would be inflicting spiritual harm, which to them is eternal and maybe even worse than bodily harm. We want them to escape the cult, to be freed into the world. To them we are basically trying to grab them and throw them into a fiery pit of hell. Of course they think that's harm!

Dumb question but... the sign Josh posted on his instagram says

The use of any form of social media to describe your activity or presence while attending this event is strictly prohibited.

All content is confidential.

Please do not discuss this event with anyone. Thank you.

So would FMJ be allowed to post the pictures/talk about what happened even if she hadn't been found out? Or does a sign like that have no legal standing?

TLC filmed it. If it were all over the Internet nobody would watch the ep

"Please do not discuss this event with anyone. Thank you."

Why, because TLC and the Duggars should be the only ones entitled to promote and make money (by putting footage of this on the show) off the event? That's ridiculous. People don't need to answer to the almighty Smuggar or anyone else if they want to talk about what they saw and heard at the sale. He really does have quite an inflated opinion of himself and his family, doesn't he?

Also pointing out that Smuggar and Famy posted pictures from the event on their instagrams, and there are plenty of fan pictures of the Duggars on social media.

I'm not a lawyer, but would think that the sign has no legal standing for a public event. They likely can impose picture/video restrictions to a closed event. I doubt that they could limit discussion of any event, even on social media, unless one signed a confidentiality agreement. I could be wrong.

Edited for riffles

From what I read, it didn't seem like FMJ got any more information that what we know already. It seems the Duggars are as predictable as we think. I suppose one would literally have to be a fly on the wall when the cameras are off in order to observe any kind of smoking gun.

The sign, however, is pretty specific. It says no form of SOCIAL MEDIA (my emphasis) and then specifically shows the twitter, facebook and youtube logos. Do they think those are the only places on the internet that allow you to post pictures and discuss your day? :shifty-kitty:

That sign was not there when I went in the gate. I checked. If it had been, I wouldn't have even taken a picture. The first sign wax there on a big poster board... but not the second.
