YLCF new site! Adornabelle - WTF?

Recommended Posts

I'm coming up empty with my googling on Gret's NFP position, though I distinctly remember she commended on Bethany and Sam Torode's book on contraception - no, on their recanting of their anti-contraception position before their subsequent divorce. She seemed supportive of the use of contraception in some circumstances.

I really don't get adornabelle. A style blog with virtually no images? A post talking about Lainier's admittedly great style which doesn't show any of her awesome clothes, but illustrates her style with only one weird closeup of her head and one image of her skincare products? A post about Chacos, which may be comfortable, but look hideous? I feel that way about my Birkenstock collection, but I don't write about my love for them on a style blog, because I don't fancy myself a style blogger. Try harder, Adornabelles.

Adornabelle sounds like a word Cuteoverload would make up for a kitten stuck in a drainpipe or something.

Or a name for a Cabbage Patch Doll.

Oh, I bet it was in the 'just for married ladies' section of YLCF. I think the whole section wasn't indexed, to protect maidens' virtue.

Agree with the above comment about a mid-sized family rather than Duggar-style quiverfull.

ETA: married.ylcf.org on Wayback Machine gets at least some of the posts (on smartphone so can't do a major investigation)

That is one boring blog. I literally thought my tits would fall off with boredom, and I was only on the first page.

Why has this stupidity happened? It's like they believe women have about two braincells each and all they can focus on is ditzy reviews of product. "Er, oh gosh, wow! Anyway! I like totally watched this infomercial and then I bought some hair goo! Because it sounded so good, if you know what I mean! And then I, like, put it on my hair! And my hair was good! And then it was bad! And so, I sorta COMPLAINED, if you follow me! Like can you believe I did that? So I'd say the goo was, like, bad, but good, know what I mean?"

I loved the tip about scarves. Isn't every lady addicted, ADDICTED LET ME TELL YOU to scarves? I agree with YLCF on this one, scarves are important. I only have the one, so probably in their eyes my fanny has actually fallen off. It's a really nice one, I bought it off the Scottish Palestinian Solidarity Campaign stall on a demo which was *seriously* policed and I needed it to cover the bottom half of my face. It's since done sterling service in counter-fascist activity. So yeah, scarves = great.

I might write an article for Adornabelle about my amazing scarf. (It's a keffiyeh). D'you think they'd accept it? After all, they've accepted one about how beaded necklaces are "great for fingering in lectures".

Thanks, silvia, for the Semper Eadem link. That looks like an actually intelligent blog I might enjoy reading.

.

I'm quite sure that shortly after her marriage/the creation and quick destruction of "Just for Married Ladies, Gretchen obliterated several special posts. I recall one she wrote shortly before her wedding about how she would be "an angel in the kitchen and a devil in the bedroom" and how she's wear sexy lingerie. It's long gone from public view!

Haha, I totally remember that one too!

I love YLCF threads because "I see your Adornabelle, and I raise you Gretchen's public disclosure of her lingerie collection!". :)

So glad I poured a drink as soon as I got home today. Might need another shower now, though :)

Chantel hasn't posted anywhere since her baby was born.

Thanks, Silvia!

Now if lingerie was necessary for great sex, God would have done some shopping for Eve. They didn’t even wear leaves in the Garden, and God said it was good. But ever since the Fall, we’ve known to cover our nakedness. And being covered makes what is underneath enticing. That’s why we wrap presents. And that’s why my hope chest contains some lace and satin that’s not big enough for a table cloth. (As one happily married man informed me, “The less material, the better!â€)

When this was first posted, I wondered, why is a married man talking with an unmarried girl [for in this culture she is indeed a girl until she marries] about sexy lingerie?? Creepy.

Also, if she's talking about a tablecloth big enough to cover that entire table surrounded by curly-haired little ones, that's a lot of material. (imagines a frumper of lace and silk)
