The Lousewife's "politics"

I am putting this here because my disgust with the Lousewife is political not religious, but I'm cool if it's moved :)

thinkinghousewife.com/wp/2013/08/disgusted-with-america/

She has a Navy bloke who was a submariner posting:

I am a husband and a father of two small children. I am a 12-year veteran: eight years active duty, four years reserves. I was raised to be patriotic, honest and loyal by my wonderful parents. I am trying to do the same with my own children. And yet, at every turn I am confronted by a culture and a government that wishes to destroy all I cherish. For example, my former military profession, submarines, which helped win the Second World War and the Cold War, is being systematically destroyed by the introduction of women.

Submarines helped to win WWII less than armed infantry on the ground did. Submarines helped "win" the Cold War (are you sure it was a win?) far less than any other factor did.

The ridiculous build-up of nukes on either side during the Cold War was nothing like as important as the internal instability of the USSR. Reagan saying "Tear down that wall!" didn't make the DDR say "Gosh, you must be right!" Again, it's the instability of "socialism in one country" which meant that the demise of the USSR and the DDR were inevitable.

As for women, what is this I don't even. I had a mate who was a submariner, and he cheerfully confessed that there was a fair bit of bum-sex going on between the all male crew. He didn't participate (being engaged to a girl back home) but he had offers. So if adding women means that the crew can't work a submarine properly as they would become obsessed by sex, is that any different from before when your arse was up for grabs?

Also, my mate said "If a woman is tall and strong, there's not much she couldn't do". So what makes women inherently unfitted for submarining?

At first, I felt indignation. Then I felt sadness. Then despondency. Now, all I feel is contempt, for my country, our culture and the stupid masses that allowed this nation to be plowed under. I know this is wrong, but I almost welcome bad news. I keep hoping that maybe, if things get bad enough, people might wake up and put a stop to the lunacy. Let it burn, and maybe we can rebuild from the ashes. I realize this is a counter-productive mode of thinking, and likely to lead to darker times, but I cannot help myself.

It is, indeed, counter-productive. If you assume "the masses" are stupid and don't want your amazing wisdom and insight, what makes you think that disaster after disaster will bring them intelligence and make them see that you are correct?

The Lousewife chips in:

Wishing that American would experience something similar is not disloyalty. I am glad and reassured to read of your anger, which I hope will become a steady form of militance. Thank you for expressing it so well.

I do not think, sweetheart, you would know militancy if it bit you on your left arse cheek. (PS: "militance" is not a word.)

Militancy means you are prepared to take your issue to the streets, not that you will post on a blog and complain about everyone who isn't like you. There's a nickname for that. Slacktivism.

I advise you to be a walking contradiction to this chaos and folly. America was formed by men of honor. They dressed well, spoke well, read widely and were natural aristocrats. They had dignity

Lousewife, *you* don't read widely. If you did you wouldn't post half the shit you do.

The US founding fathers did read widely, and would be amazed to think that you claimed their heritage. They would also be surprised by the idea of "natural aristocrats" I bet.

Like all forms of love, love of country does not always come easily. Love is not just a good feeling. Remember that America consists of the living, but also of the dead and the unborn. They are all here and I assure you most of them would agree with you.

It's insane to speak for the unborn. A half-formed embryo is an American patriot with strong views on how the Cold War was "won"? That's, er, interesting.

As for the dead, amongst the US dead are Trotskyists, anarchists of various types, members of the US Communist Party, people who didn't profess any faith or any belief that the US was the best country ever and that submariners won wars, and children who knew nothing of anything before they died. To hold the idea that they are all Tea Partiers is mixing politics with faith in an utterly stupid way.

Maybe he's despondent knowing the butt-sex will end?

My students wrote an argument essay on women in the military last year. One of the arguments was that having women in active combat, on boats, on subs etc will cause the strong bond between men (Band of Brothers Effect or whatever) to deteriorate.

I feel like, after reading this, maybe that bond was too strong in the first place

I believe it's Navy policy that only female Officers can serve on submarines anyway (housing limitations). Maybe this guy just resents having to take orders from a woman?

All you cherish being what, exactly, dude bro culture?

:violin:

Hell, let's just burn the whole world down, start all over again, and maybe NOT introduce women this time.

Wow, it's like being at a séance with a medium and a fetus whisperer rolled into one.

More gems from the Suzy Soldier entry:

One of the gals who examined me was in fact an HM (or corpsman); she couldn’t have been more than a hundred pounds soaking wet, and looked like a child in her uniform.. . Her deportment and bearing were more akin to that I would expect in a sorority girl or teenager down at the mall, than a soldier or sailor.

Does the Navy really expect that small, weak, and not very proficient young woman... to uphold the highest traditions and honor of Navy corpsmen, if called upon to go into harm’s way? I possessed every quality (and then some) the services say they desire in their officers and men, but I could not get into uniform, despite literally almost begging to do so. The Army and Navy seemed all too pleased, however, to take in lots of these small, weak, timid-looking gals and also many sub-standard men as well.

and the best:

at least Suzy the Soldier will have her teddy bear (I’m not kidding; I have seen pictures of female “soldiers†sleeping with their teddy bears) to throw at the Chinese. Good luck with that.

WTF on so many levels.

What kind of pervert takes pics of sleeping women?

Does gender really matter when you're firing an M16?

And where did the Chinese come from?

Hahahaha! What an idiot.

You know how you didn't get into uniform? You're not suited, pal. Don't take it personally. I wanted to be in the military once too. They very sensibly said to me "You have to be fucking kidding".

It's as though these people think that the military is the epitome of masculinity and being told that they can't join is like one of those nightmares where they're cringing naked in a corner and everyone is pointing and laughing at their tiny genitalia. In fact, it's roughly the same as being told that you're unlikely to make it as an accountant if you still count on your fingers or as a fashion designer if you regularly wear a brown t-shirt saying "Save The Trees, Eat a Beaver" on top of pink jeans. We don't all have the same skills and capabilities and that's all there is to it.

If you wouldn't feel like your cock had been forcibly removed when someone told you Tesco didn't want to hire you, why feel like it when someone tells you the military life ain't for you?

And yes, the sleeping women thing, wtf. I don't care if a female (or male) soldier hugs a teddy in bed, I've known soldiers who get up to far weirder shit than that.

A friend of mine had a saying: " We're not just gay. We're ARMY gay!" A good part of his unit was sleeping together. They used to put a wig on the skinniest fellow and take turns Spooning him, pretending he was a lassie. Most odd bunch.
