I'm not sure how the adults having conversations can plug their book - although I can see how they would think it is.

Conversing with the same, and only, people you converse with 24/7 is not great accomplishment and no book is really needed for it. Especially in the Maxwell home where everything is so controlled.

Now, if she said the adults were conversing - with OTHER people around, and no sibling next to you to make sure you say the right things, maybe they'd have something. Maybe.

Mostly though, they're so pathetic they're parodies of themselves.
