I absolutely concur that Texas has quite a lot of crazies. But there are a LOT of us living here who aren't. Houston and Dallas are big cities with extremely diverse populations.

We have lived in East Texas for 8 years now and we love it. I don't have any interest in living anywhere else, not for a long while. The cost of living is reasonable, the economy was not as hard-hit as the rest of the country, the climate is fantastic, and the people in our mid-sized city are nice and not too far on the crazy spectrum.
