Duggar Friends the Proverbs Family Freak Out

While I do see all the points mentioned, I want to point out that Proverbs Mom *does* work. She runs a preschool/daycare in her home, she's posted on it several times. She gets paid to do that. I'm sure it doesn't pay a fortune or anything, but she does work.

You are right. I forgot about that. I even mentioned it a few pages ago. I guess the Taco Bell thing bugged me so much I lost all reason!

Check out their crazy vacation. Part of me feels really badly for them and applauds their ingenuity, but then I recall that Proverbs Dad is very sick, but Proverbs Mom, while able-bodied, does not work because Jesus Homeschool. They had to recycle cans to get enough money to go to Taco Bell.

I have no idea about welfare in the US, but please don't tell me they're the kind of family to turn down government assistance they're entitled to (and need). :angry-banghead:

Eh, I've been known to do the same thing. Taco hell is cheap enough I don't see an issue. Unless that's their only way of getting food at all.

I watched the attached video just because of the warning advising me not to do so. Then because the video had the black bars of censorship over some of the pictures I had to go to google to see them.

That "fake vacation" thing was arduous to get through! The mom does say in the comments that the eldest daughter's swimsuit usually is worn with an undershirt.

Their last name appears to be "Young" not Proverbs. I support they just live and breathe proverbs so much that they want the world to know.

I am all for frugal fun, but I thought the first day of their vacation was really sad. They went to the local park and ate a packed lunch. And that was a "treat". My mom ran a home daycare and used to take us all to the park all the time. The youngest one looks ecstatic, but this is supposed to be something special for the teenagers? What a cloistered life these poor girls lead.

I think you summed up my reaction to this much better than I did.

I don't understand, this woman runs a home daycare and homeschools her kids? Wouldn't homeschooling take her time away from the little ones she is paid to take care of? I looked at her blog a little last night but couldn't find much about her husband. Plus I thought the blog was a little boring so stopped reading. Does she also take care of him (as I believe a previous poster said he wasn't able to work)?

Yeah, I also don't understand how it's possible to do these two things simultaneously and do any justice to either.

I am so glad you guys got tripped out by these guys like I did! My mom (who was corporate at Wal Mart for a a decade or so) lives near these people and the Duggars. It drives her insane (she and her husband are inching from Democrats towards socialism). She says there are groups up there even worse than these people! I guess they don't have blogs.

It's nice to know there are more than two Dems in ARK. I had a friend who lived there most of her life. She used to tell me stories about Jim Boob and Huckabee before they became well known. I thought she was making that stuff up.

I have come to the conclusion that these people take delight in all their 'sacrifices'. I bet I could have come up with more exciting, educational, fun and cheap things for them to do on their 'fakecation' than what they chose. :angry-banghead: If their two teenage girls were excited about trips to Taco Bell and their version of Chuckie Cheese, they must really have a boring life.

Do her customers know that paying someone else to mother your kids is ebil?

She said it's not ok to homeschool if your husband says no, but in the same post says its ok to disobey his wishes on doing housework in order to do weekend Bible School. among the probably endless contradictions in her posts! I left her a comment.

On her issues with the public library. I had a group that objected to one book years ago. They would check the book out and "lose it" but were very civil. They promptly brought the check for the lost item and the filled out objection form for the book. As big as the church is they may still be doing that today! (That was in '89). Some people never understand the term "public" ......

http://proverbsfamily.blogspot.com/2012/11/what-duggar-church-is-like.html?m=1

Who will lead worship now that Josh is gone?

Look at all the people this church is NOT for. What would they think if I showed up with my little one and told then I was a single mom?

Maybe some of us should crash a service and see what its really like. I have a spy cam.... lol

In this post :

Well done, Duggars. Their little ones, for the most part, are very well behaved in church. We know this is probably due to Michelle's blanket training

They speak about the "blanket training" of the Pearls, I guess :? ?

She does blanket train THE KIDS SHE WATCHES, not her own kids, because they are all older. So just digest that for a minute, because for some reason it did not click for me until now that the blanket trained baby was not her own.

Someone is paying for this. Who are their mothers? They must be WORKING?

But I asked her about it and she said she just says NO and puts them back on the blanket. No hitting involved. Also she used that term "tomato staking" about keeping him close to her all day.

Now I am really confused because she was even training the kid to sit quietly on her lap and quietly in a chair. Wait not confused. Disturbed.

To the person who asked about her husband, he has early onset alzheimer's and I don't think he works - according to his facebook he runs a ministry. He is pretty active on FB, posting all sorts of right wing things.

Thank you for the information. The wording of the sentence was not clear. But this is something quite normal in fact :)

And it appears she does some sort of homeschooling with the three daycare kids. It is the weirdest thing.

I emailed the Library and ask them NOT to take this book off the shelf cause of one crazy whack job! this is the email I just got back from them..."Thank you, Miss Margie, for your support regarding the Library’s policies concerning intellectual freedom."

I think she probably tried to have a more anonymous blog, and then when Blogger or BlogSpot decided to use Google+ accounts instead of Blogger profiles her real name became attached to the blog.

Are there rules in Arkansas about how many kids you can care for in Daycare? We have pretty tight rules on how many you can have in each age group and your own kids are counted. (Don't quote me but I believe it is five preschoolers but with a max of two under two. Not sure how many school age kids you can add to that.)

Several years ago I kept children in my own home when we lived in AR. The law was (and I think it's the same now) that you could keep 6 children of whatever age in your home in addition to your own children without a license.
