Duggar Friends the Proverbs Family Freak Out

The Proverbs Family are church friends of the Duggars. I think their crazy blog gives great insight as to who the Duggars really are. Their oldest is on a Journey to the Heart of Darkness. Th mom rails against the evil librul public library and refuses to take her kids there. She also runs some weird preschool out of their home.

Read about Proverbs Mom Val's latest library meltdown:

Today's post has a picture of a medieval toothed metal chastity belt and some very sick invective on purity. I.e.....daddies can protect your purity coz MENZ are used to fighting others over what's theirs. My women folks vaginas belong to ME, dammit.

This woman is batshit crazy. I just skimmed through some earlier posts, and she "lays hands" on her daughter to expel demons.

And thinks it works.

WTF? It's Perfectly Normal is the most benign book about puberty imaginable. Those cartoon illustrations are the opposite of defrauding!

I wonder if any fundies actually wear chastity belts. It reminds me of that older cartoon, The Oblongs. Some bat shit old lady shows off her iron undies, and the mother dryly asks her, "are you sure that's necessary?"

God, I'd love to get the male fundies in one of these little numbers

Nobody ever wore chastity belts in the Middle Ages. This has been exceptionally well researched by a number of scholars, most recently Professor Albrecht Classen. His findings are entertainingly (and ribaldly) summarized [link=http://nakedphilologist.wordpress.com/2008/08/29/chastity-belts-an-academically-approved-forum-for-talking-about-sex/]here[/link].

OOOO I follow them on instagram. She has been posting pictures of #childtraining and #blankettraining and I asked her (under the guise of wanting to do it) if she used a clap, loud noise, or a swat to get the baby to stay on the blanket. She said she only says, "NO" and puts him back on and it takes forever but is worth it...then another church member said they do the same thing.

This is the woman whose first husband was murdered and she remarried, and the Duggars were at the homeschool graduation of one of her daughters, I believe someone posted those pics in the Duggar thread.

Thank you for posting that, as soon as I read "chastity belt" I was prepared to pounce upon this misconception!

Not to mention the atrociously inaccurate views on purity in past ages. I really start to believe the only history fundies ever study is the history of the white upper class in the late 19th century, omitting the blatant hypocrisy of prostitution running rampant in the larger cities of the time. Just now, I REALLY want to hit that mother's head with a hard cover edition of "Dangerous Liaisons".

The oldest daughter prefers to wear jeans, tshirts, and baseball caps, and has short hair and doesn't wear makeup. I think it will be interesting to see what she does with her self, because she seems to have zero interest in the feminine, modest, long wavy hair style of her peers. Isn't it important to them to put out a certain appearance to attract a mate? So at least she has a bit of a distinctive personality.

I believe I learned in a Women's Studies class in college that chastity belts were worn by women as a rape deterrent when they were traveling or had soldiers mustering in their homes. They wouldn't be worn all the time either. In Italy and Spain maybe in the 1800's?

 Yep, these people are nuts. I was actually poking around the blog looking for a post I heard about that Val wrote on the evil liberal library. The only was I could find was this one on the SEX. The TRASH. EVIL.

Ugh. So depressing (copy & paste link): 2.bp.blogspot.com/-KowQYn-kUvU/Ucg3nqx3jLI/AAAAAAAAA9A/nusd7ILVVls/s1600/journey4.jpg . The caption is: "This is what she did when she came home [from Journey to the Heart]. She started throwing out stuff that takes her, and our whole family, away from God. LOVE this!"

Apparently, the media that "takes her... away from God" includes such scandalous titles as High School Musical 3, Evan Almighty, Shrek, Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue, and Toy Story 3. Because watching computer-animated fairies, toys, and green monsters could ignite the sinful fires of lust, don't'cha know. (And dude, wasn't Evan Almighty designed to appeal to Christian audiences? I guess the only films that pass muster in the Gothardverse are those made by the cult master himself or his close personal friends.)

Heads up: We do NOT allow speculation about the sexual orientation of minors.

It says so right at the top of every freakin' forum: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=17278#p548982

It is up to everyone who posts here to read the rules and follow them.

DO NOT SPECULATE ABOUT THE SEXUAL ORIENTATION OF MINORS!

And do not say, "Now, I'm not speculating, but..."

Because that's the same thing as speculating.

A post above has been edited, and another moved to storage.

Mind your manners.

Just to clarify, I wasn't trying to speculate about anyone's sexuality. I was trying to comment on her non fundie dress without sounding like I was equating non feminine dress with being gay. That's why i said, "not that it means anything." I just don't want anyone to think I was intentionally breaking a rule. I apologize that it seemed that way.

Dude, I can't even read this lady's blog...it just gives me flashbacks. My dad would sit me down and make me recount EXACTLY what I had done with guys. (Not surprisingly, I hid a lot from him later on.) That is not normal. That is a perversion of parental authority. And even if my daughter was "sleeping around", I definitely wouldn't be pouting around like eeyore - don't these parents realize that their children aren't "theirs" forever?! That eventually, they will make their own choices, and it's not the end of the world if the choices aren't always, consistently, Biblical? My husband and I have two daughters (2.5 and 1.5-pity me, please :) jk) and I love them to pieces, but I know that once they grow up, they may make choices I don't agree with. HOWEVER, I'm praying that we can lay a good foundation down now of communication and openness, that if they do ever come home with blue hair or hiding bc control pills, my first thought won't be "Woe is me, my child is broken". That was ALWAYS how my mom and dad related to me, and every little decision I made that was different. I wasn't allowed to dye my hair because it "made my father look bad"...that's how nutty it was. Rules were constantly changed and freedoms revoked to whatever made my Dad look the best at the time. This lady doesn't even realize that if she keeps up posting things like CHASTITY BELTS and the 'fact' that dads are supposed to be all up in their children's sexual choices, she won't have any children to talk to when they hit 18.

and fyi? I'm a fundamental Baptist, and I believe masturbation is fine.

My question is, why is she allowed to dress in such a different manner from her younger sisters, who seem to always be in typical fundie garb? Even her modest swimsuit was more normal looking ensemble compared with what they were wearing. Odd. But good for her if she's standing her ground and Mom (or Dad) has backed down.

According to the mom she's the one with a lot of problems. Probably why they sent her on the journey to the heart. The mom was all thrilled she had to wear skirts for it and bought a bunch for her and the girl looks SOOO unhappy in the pics of her trying them on. It's clear she is not embracing a lot of it, which probably makes her feel like an outcast. But yeah, at least she is allowed to make her own choices. I doubt a Duggar would be allowed to even cut their hair!

Bitch PLEASE. Proverbs family requests emails to the library? Amateur. West Bend WI has the original crazy when it comes to Porn at the Library that Any Innocent Child Can Read. BTDT. Unfortunately for her, the First Amendment applies even to people disgusting enough to think that sex plays a role in the life of teenagers. ( She thinks Perks of being a Wallflower is porn and should be only accesible to over 18s)

wissup.blogspot.com

Ah. She's apparently opened up a few more paragraphs of crazy lately. One of which that says teh gayz can't get married because apple pie is not pumpkin pie. No, really. I'm assuming heterosexual marriage is like apple pie because it's American and all that, and gay marriage is a pie made out of a squash so is therefore unseemly.

Awwwwwww I feel bad for the rebellious daughter. I hope she runs as far away as possible and takes a few Duggars with her.

I dont see a problem with the book explaining sex. Its for kids 10 and up, who are about the age when they are already learning about sex in normal families, it gives factual information that isnt biased towards straight people, and the images show different kinds of bodies in a positive way.
