Dads can ask young men if they want to date their daughter. A woman should not pursue a man or ask him out on a date but she can ask if he is interested in her. I've spent 2 days going through Gothard's Advanced Training text book and every bit of that is straight from Gothard. It makes me wonder if Gothard's crap is so pervasive throughout evangelical Christianity that it's been adopted as the norm, or if this was always the case and Gothard reinvented the wheel.

Well I guess I am sending my husband to hell in a hand basket then, because I'm not a Christian and he is. I refer to myself as an agnostic theist. I do remember his former church wouldn't marry us because we weren't "equally yoked." I was like well gee thanks for denying us the right to marry and have the benefits of marriage. Oh but please do continue to send us those bi yearly invitations to tithe to "build the kingdom of God." Can you tell I'm still a little bitter about their attitude. Jokes on them we will be celebrating our 5 year anniversary next month and have a wonderful son who is an absolute delight.
