Kingdom Twindom writes about gay marriage . . .

Today Kingdom Twindom has felt the need to address the subject of gay marriage. This woman is a pitiful excuse.

She is also quoting scripture.

1 Corinthians 6: 9 - 10 Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the Kingdom of God.

I was raised in a semi-aldent fundie home and have read the Bible front to back many times, and several versions. Not once have I read the word "homosexual" in the Bible. The word is not mentioned in the Bible.

Why does she think it's OK to slam the Bible in the face of GLBTQ's and lie about what the scripture says. Speak the truth or shut up. As the proud mom of a gay son I can say she is not reading and quoting the same Bible I have read and do read.

You know, even if it's true that God will punish those people who have sex with someone of the same sex by preventing them from entering his kingdom in the future (and that's a pretty big IF), it does not mean that we are not supposed to treat them as people. Do people really believe that any person, no matter their sin or transgression or "lifestyle" should be prevented from living? Or having a home or a job or friends?

To my knowledge, though I cannot say I've read the whole Bible, it doesn't use the word homosexual. As far as I know the Bible only mentions sexuality 6 or 7 times. In Leviticus it's mentioned in a list of rules including the advisement not to eat shell fish. To me, that kind of contextualizes as something they were trying to establish as a cultural norm and not something "immoral". The Greek and Roman cultures allowed homosexual behaviour and sodomy was often done to enemy soldiers or soldiers taken prisoner. It was seen as something designed to humiliate and lower morale. Perhaps the Jewish culture was trying to distance itself from that? I think it's important to remember when reading that Bible that we are not reading a narrative by "winners" or a dominant group in society. We are reading a book about a minority and that status colours the narrative.

Edit: After reading the post, I have to give her *some* credit. At least she does not seem to hate LGBT people or bash them. But, one thing that does annoy me about the "gay is a sin" side of the debate is that, it takes things that are character flaws, things that people use religion to help get past such as greed or materialism, anger, hubris, a lack of understanding/compassion, or whatever it might be and equates that homosexuality, which implies homosexuality can and should be changed, just in a more subtle way. Homosexuality is not a character flaw.

This is one of my pet crazies. Her history is pretty interesting, if you're into whack-a-doodles.

She has five kids (two sets of twins and one singleton) and she homeschools. Her husband has cheated on her for pretty much their entire marriage. He left but they ended up getting back together a few years ago. Then he left again. She has no intention of divorcing him and she tells her kids that God is going to bring him back and they'll be one big happy family forever, or some such drivel. She also says that God literally talks to her.

I can't imagine why she wants the scumbag back but that's just me. She's been flat broke and unemployed and begging for help at times, but now I think she works from home. She really likes to take pictures of herself and she goes back and forth between talking about how awesome she is and beating herself up for not treating her darling cheating husband better. It's a trainwreck.

I would not have known it from the posts here, but I was interested that it wasn't necessarily a screed against gay marriage, even though she disagrees with it on principle.

More pointing out the hypocrisy of the Christian church in elevating homosexuality as The Issue when it comes to marriage, while adultery, porn, divorce, and the like are rampant within the church.

Did any of you see her episode of Unfaithful on the Oprah Network? He was cheating on her CONSTANTLY and I believe I've read that he was doing drugs as well. At the time the episode was filmed, they were apparently back together, but he had already left her again before it aired. What a mess.

Lissar is right; she's a nut, still pining for him and having her children pray for his return.

I haven't seen the episode but I really want to. I keep hoping to catch a rerun.

Knowing all that she has written about on her blog, I felt like they glossed over a lot of what he was doing behind her back, but then again, they only devoted half an hour to their story, and he was doing so much shit that it would probably take hours and hours to go through it all.

One of the most interesting things about the show was that she mentioned on her blog that SHE was the one who had the idea to try out for it. Who does something like that!?? Initially they thought it was going to be with Oprah, so the only thing I can figure is that she thought it might bring her a ton of new blog traffic. Of course, it was only for OWN and they didn't even mention the blog, so that kind of blew up in her face.
