The Ultimate Homemaking Library

Want More Babies

Recommended Posts

I admit, I bought it! :angry-banghead:

raisinghomemakers.com/2013/the-ultimate-homemakers-library-97-ebooks-for-just-29-97-plus-freebies/

Did anyone else? There is a book that I want to discuss, but I don't have time right now. It will take a good day or two to write out my thoughts about it, and I just don't have that kind of time for the next few days. I read the book over two days (it is only 120 so so pages) but I have never been so angry in all my life. :angry-banghead: The book is Entangled entangledbook.com/

The reviews on Amazon does not due it justice. It is so far from a 5 Star read that it isn't funny. It should be given 1 Star.

I bought it. I wanted the freebies, mostly, but I follow a few of the homemaking and cooking blogs that put on the sale, so I'm excited for those books. Maybe some of the preschooling books as well.

Are there some rage-inducing books in it? I honestly didn't look super hard. I'll take a look and will join you in discussing them if you like. :)

Entangled left me furious. Maybe I am reading way too much into it, but I think not. I liked the book on ice cream recipes but could have probably googled all of them. My problem is sometimes I don't think of something, then see it and think, wow, I would like to try that. :)

I am a fan of Southern Living and bon appetit and every month I try new recipes out of there. Have you had the Hummingbird Cake from Southern Living? Oh my, no wonder I can't loose any weight! http://www.southernliving.com/food/holi ... age32.html

Are you discussing the same series of books advertised on LAF? If so, no wonder they annoyed you.

Oh wow. That cake looks fantastic. I don't get any magazines, but every time I come across a Southern Living in a waiting room or whatnot, I am always wishing I could eat everything in the recipe section. Especially the Thanksgiving issue. /drool

Is Entangled about emotional affairs or something? I think I remember skimming past its blurb and thinking it seemed like a weird addition to a collection of homemaking books.

I bought it too for some of the homeschooling materials (non religious) and some of the homemaking books. i read the parenting advice from the 4 moms book- and it made me  way too much religious stuff thrown in, but a lot of the advice made me sideye.

"Entangled's" book description just makes me kind of sad for all parties involved. Honestly, whether you're a Christian or not, it doesn't take a genius to know that you shouldn't become a super close confidant to someone to whom you are ALSO sexually attracted. Attraction happens, but chances are your rational mind knows the life you built with your partner is worth more than flirting with some other dude (or lady), and can put a damper on things before it goes too far. I look forward to your scathing review, Want More Babies!

I've kind of become interested in home management over the years, but I don't think I'd ever buy a homemaking-system book (or series of books!), since I'm pretty happy with the system I have now. It's quite nerdy and involves lots of evernote shopping lists and google calendar reminders for tasks and appointments. Thankfully my partner is the guru of paper filing and budget spreadsheets, so between us (and our zero kids and pets) we get along quite easily.

Buying other people's "systems" for anything never made sense to me. Although I wish I had the ambition to create and market a system of my own to sell to others. I have always wanted to exploit the weak for my personal gain.

Do it! Then you can make the rest of us feel like a pieces of shit for not having such a perfect system!

Do you think they feel competitive reasons to write these blogs and books, to show every one else how wonderful they have their life and family so perfect in orderly? They seem like they are fighting to be the g-d of home management, in a christ way of course.

There are three kinds of people in the world.

Those that see stuff and say "I could do/ make that!"

Those that see stuff and say "I'll buy that!"

Those who play WoW/Candy Crush and are happy with their console and a bowl of ramen.

Princess Training???? WTF??

Unless your daughter aspires to work for the Disney Corporation, "princess" is not something she should be in training for.

Awww darn, I missed it. I'd have liked the "heirloom" sourdough starter, too. My starters always end up dead, MrBlue can't eat regular bread, and it's now $2.50/loaf in the store.
