That's Boob's way of saying "All of your urges will be repressed until you're married". Don't let the evil get to you, kids! The adults should be doing something, either going to school or working. They're living off of Boob and Mullet and the parents could care less. There comes a time when most parents want to see if they've raised kids who can make it on their own.

They didnt raise kids. They raised their own personal army of servants, and those servants raised the next lot.

Oh, fair point about the filming. My point about it being more for the parents' desires than the children's needs still stands, though ;)

It is ridiculous that they only have three bedrooms with all that unused space.

I guess technically they have four bedrooms, since Grandma Mary is now living in the guest bedroom off the laundry area. But I agree - it's absolutely ridiculous that they only have three main bedrooms in that huge house.

My 15 year old goes to high school, plays sports and holds a part-time job on the week-ends. I'm dealing with my empty nest syndrome already. But at least I feel fairly confident that my child is going to have a decent set of skills combined with a college education, to make it on his own as an adult. The Duggars have effectively hobbled their adult children, so that their options are extremely limited.

Their bedroom configuration is just plain stupid and self-serving. Designed so that JimBoob and J'chelle rarely need to deal with sleep issues of their younger offspring. Allowing thme time to attain their much loved sleep (what parent of young children sleeps as late as JimBoob???) and sweet fellowship. The boys probably think of it as a rough housing time; but the girls have got to hate it! Yet, no one speaks up.

And they're off! It's Gothard Homeschool Indoctrination Camp Time again (or as they now call it: Regional Conference, Big Sandy).

Jinger and a Query are slated for some ear-shattering music on Thursday. Boob and Mullet will be headliners on Friday. The Bateses will also jabber about "Good vs. Godly Kids. Have at it, click on the brochure to enlarge and click through to turn pages.

Oh to be a fly on the wall for Got Hard's lecture on, "The Hidden Dangers of Higher Education." But alas, I'm neither a father or the crazy fundie type that will not allow their children a shot at mind expansion and success. Damn me for being a recent grad school graduate and member of the ebil lesser sex

I was really, really hoping you were kidding about that... :pull-hair:

Yeah but at least they are kinda admitting that college minus doesn't qualify as higher education. Oh those poor kids. They never had a chance did they?

I just showed my husband (a university chemistry lecturer) the "Hidden Dangers of Higher Education" and he told me that he had to throw a whole lot of students out of labs yesterday for inappropriate footwear and asked if that was a hidden danger.

Re: the TTH. To be utterly honest, I love that walkway. I want to go run up and down it and throw things at the people downstairs.

But for a house? I hate it. It'd be great in any other building, but not a home. Granted, I'm one of those people who prefers cozy spaces, but still.

I was finally able to read the first duggar book last week, including the full story about buying two house frames, one being wrong, getting a third delivered, then using the "wrong" frame anyway. I had always assumed that the "wrong" bits were the centre of the house and that was why they had the big open lounge and the odd walkway. The book says the extra frame allowed them to build the girls room, the garage, pantry, goodbye room and downstairs study. What???? I would REALLY like to see the original plans now. Where did they originally plan the girls room to be? Does this mean they always planned the walkway? I have this picture in my head now of Jim Bob & Michelle's room on one side of the walkway and all of the kids sleeping on the other sides.

Lol ... your reaction is the same as everyone the first time they see the plans or read about it.

I have heard other people call it a "mud room". Does that help? It use to have a couple of small lounge chairs in it and there is footage of JB, M, Gil and Kelly talking there in one episode. I believe it is now used to store Michelle's elliptical.

I believe it's called the "goodbye room" because that's where JB's father stayed before he died, and is therefore where they said "goodbye" to him. IIRC it doesn't have a door, though, so it's really more of a mud room or a small alcove off the side door.

No, Jim Bob once explained that so many people saying goodbye takes so long, they called it that. ...Except it seems on the show that they use the big living room doors as the entry, not the "goodbye room" door, so...

(And did Jim Bob's dad stayed in the guest room off the living room where Mary still lives, too?)

Oh, my bad. Yeah, they only seem to use the side door when they're leaving to go in the bus, which is parked out the side. Guests always seem to come in the front door.

This is a bit off topic, but I'm wondering what the Duggar parents would say about my oldest sister, unmarried at the time, getting pregnant during college...after years of abstinence only teaching. I'm starting to question what I was taught about contraceptives (NONE. EVER!) but I know it's something I'll never be able to discuss with my parents or other family members, even though we're all adults now.

I may be mis-remembering, but it seems like we've seen Hannie's face puffed up before. My vote is allergies, since my face often looks similar, if not an accident from the constant lack of supervision. My right eye (and it's always just the right eye) was swollen shut for a couple of days last week, as it does off and on over the course of every spring, and I wore sunglasses inside the damn grocery store because it looked so terrible and I didn't want people to automatically think I was abused. I agree with the sentiment that the Duggars would be too smart to let her appear on camera if there were actual abuse, sad as that is to contemplate.

And yeah, that house and staircase are a freaking death trap.

The Duggars would judge and probably think your sister is not a good decent person to say the least. Remember, their children are not supposed to even kiss before marriage.

FWIW, I've had my face and eyes swell up WAY more than that pic of the Duggar girl due to an animal allergic reaction, so bad that I had to miss work that day. But it wasn't red like that (eyes red, yes, surrounding skin, no). But I've never had poison oak/ivy either, crossing fingers, so I wouldn't know what that's like.

They didn't seem to mind that higher education when the specialists used it to save Josies life... :angry-banghead:

Guess they should stop going to the dentists too, that requires higher education, no more doctors visits or prescription medications. No more OB visits for J'chelle!

So what is this, all of us heathens are fine for them to use if we have higher education but yet they don't believe in it... I'm confused... :?
