Worst Movie you've ever seen?

I have a new worst movie ever. Sucker Punch. I don't even. It was like PG-13 rape torture porn (I know that sounds implausible but it's the best way I can describe it) interspersed with horribly awful dialogue and things blowing up. BAD. Really, really, bad.

thank you!!!! I hated the notebook. I just don't get why people love it...

I own The Notebook on DVD. 10 minutes into the movie and I wanted my money back. Also, A Walk To Remember... That movie should be buried never to be dug up again.

Also...

Solaris (the remake with George Clooney... butchered the book completely)

Everything Is Illuminted

Igby Goes Down

The Leprechaun

anything from M. Night Syalamaladingdong :snooty:

Edited to add: One that I actually watched hoping it would be good but ended up hating: Wicker Man

The original or the remake? I love the original, but the remake... well, mainly, all that goes through my head is "BEES!" and incoherent giggling at the idea that it actually got made.

Oh the remake, for sure.

Can't narrow it down to one.

Dune-Loved the book, hated the movie.

Beetlejuice-Stupid, stupid, stupid. Watched it after a relative raved about it. I guess we have different tastes.

Zoolander-I cannot even believe that when this idea was first pitched, ANYONE could have ever thought this premise would be a good one for a movie.

Ship of Fools-From the sixties. I saw it as the second feature back when there were almost always two movies shown. Maybe it would have been better had I been older, but I thought it was sooo boring at the time. So much so that I have never forgotten it.

Grease. Hate, hate, hate it, probably because I didn't see it until I was in college

Dirty Dancing 2. Really, they felt the need to make another one? At least the boy (Diego Luna) was kind of hot

Megashark vs. Crocosaurus. Made it through 10 minutes. The only redeeming part was the fact that Urkel was in it and I didn't know it. Other than that, it sucked

Phantom of the opera is on my top five list of worst movies ever (which is kind of a shame since it I heard it cost a ton to make). Escape from sobibor is really dramatic but kinda good. For kids movies I'd say Wally is the worst I've ever seen along with Babes in toyland.

Really? You hated Wall-E? Why?

I ended up walking out on that movie. It was way too krazee and didn't have enough redeeming value of any type to make me stick it out. When the Tom Cruise character goes to the mansion and opens the door and hears moans and wails that sound like he's opened the gate to hell itself - and then he went in anyway, I was like, "Hell, no". I get nuance and social commentary, but some of these attempts at "deep" just jump the shark and end up plain old smarmy and degrading. IMO

For every movie I hate, there are zillions of people who love it, and vice versa :)

Austin, are you and QueenMother talking about the same movie? Eyes Wide Shut is the film with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. It was Stanley Kubrick's last film, unfortunately. Saw it once and that was more than enough. Eyes Wide Open is a more recent film set in the Orthodox Jewish community of Jerusalem. A married father of four falls in love with a 22-year old man. I haven't seen that one.

yes, the original Wicker Man is awesome. Nicolas Cage should be ashamed for the remake.

When I lived in Manhattan, a friend of mine liked this Turkish deli in his neighborhood, where you could rent Turkish movies on videocassette for $1.50. I was not previously aware of Turkish ripoff cinema, but I think that particular genre is nonpareil when it comes to being so-bad-it's-hilariously-bad.

But the worst movie I've seen is definitely Baby Geniuses II: Superbabies. That movie had no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

I was referring to the Tom Cruise movie. I may have stated it wrong. I am hardly a movie buff, having gone years at a time without seeing one.

I have another one. It's not as bad as Very Bad Things, but it was pretty bad... Meet the Hollowheads with Juliette Lewis. I saw in in elementary school at a sleepover and my mother was FURIOUS. We were probably like 9 or 10 years old, because I think I was in either 4th or 5th grade. I wasn't allow to go over to that girl's house anymore, either.

The Star Wars prequels go without saying.

I like a decent popcorn flick, but at the absolute bottom of the list was "End of Days" and "Inception."

As a hardcore Star Wars geek, I actually loved the prequels. The applause at the cinema when Episode III opened was unreal!!

I think Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is the worst HP movie ever made. It cuts so many things out of the book, not just the petty things but significant details, if I hadn't read the book I'd be confused by the film. Same thing happened with the Order of the Phoenix (which is my favourite book due to it's ridiculous length and intricate plot), but I gave it a pass because the directing was good. PoA though... Why I own the DVD I'll never know.

And I didn't get inception. I thought it just plain didn't make any sense.

Star-Wars-Nerd here, and I have to agree partly with the sentiment that the prequels are bad, because they clash with so much the old films say, and while In immensely enjoyed to get a backstor and "flesh" to the characters, especially Palpatine and Vader, I am disgusted at the whiny teenage boy Luca made out of Vader,a nd generally, the characters are developed badly and flatly. You should think with all that money he had at his disposal, he would have mastered something better!

And, do I dare say it: JarJar Binks. :naughty:

But... it is Star Wars and the special effects... and the plot, how badly executed it might be in some part, is, in my opinion, a tad more interesting than in the originals.

I think I can sum up what was wrong with the SW prequels this way. They were trying too hard to make them be a back story to the main story, that they forgot to make them stories unto themselves. Certainly they had their redeeming qualities and they did what they set out to do - explain what created Darth Vader and give the context for Luke's birth. They had their value in that way.

i loved gilbert grape, and i will cut you for mentioning roadhouse! omg! swayze AND sam elliott in all his drawly, growly, mustachioed glory???? how DARE YOU?

i think roadhouse (and xanadu) turn the corner from "so bad they turn good again" in a campy way.

I have to agree with Meet Joe Black. zzz.

Moulin Rouge was the worst for me. I just did not get putting modern music to turn of (last) century Paris. And to have a movie set in Paris, and not show it? Blasphemy!

ETA: Also Seven Pounds with Will Smith. Worst of the worst for me. The movie is VERY SERIOUS. VERY IMPORTANT.

AND VERY FULL OF CRAP.

I loved Cars, but then I like automotive things. I'm not a NASCAR fan, but I do appreciate a fast car. I've autocrossed and I love driving on twisty mountain roads in my Mini.

I loved Wall-E as well. I loved how the first part of it was essentially a silent film and how sweet Wall-E and Eve were with each other.
