Bontragers visit DC

I do not know how to link so I apologize in advance.

The Bontragers visit DC and visit some museums. Okay good BUT....they are upset that the Civil War exhibit is biased against the South....since they have studied it extensively they know all of the wonderful things the Confederacy did.( I have taught the Civil War so I understand pointing out the whole story) however do you think this fits in line with the rest of the fundies view of history? I just do not understand their looking at history and then just making it something they want it to be,

They also had the older children visit the Crime Museum and they do not recommend it because of the violence.

Um, did you think it was going to be cupcakes and rainbows?

Any thoughts?

Maybe the Bontragers would have found The Redneck Shop in Laurens, SC more to their liking.

Yeah, I don't understand going to a crime museum and complaining about the violence either.

Silly Bontragers! They must have made a wrong turn. They were looking for the White Collar Crime Museum, which has double sets of ledgers, Wall Street suited mannequins, and a lovely Enron display. No blood 'n guts there.

WTF, really? You walk through the doors of a Crime Museum and you're expecting not to see violence?

I'm a little surprised they didn't follow the Duggar's lead and go to the Holocaust Museum. But then again, there's graphic descriptions of crimes there.

I'd say yes, this fits in line with the fundie view of history--especially since they are from Iowa, where people theoretically should not have an interest in preserving the "amazing details of the Confederates." (And what amazing details would these be? I have a feeling they aren't referring to tactical skills of the military.) There seems to be this idea among fundies that the Confederacy was somehow more religious and moral than the Union. The Bontragers even point out that just because they are from a northern state, that doesn't make them "Yankees." So . . . what's the alternative?

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

You know what I hate most about subtle racism? The gaslighting. Stop cosplaying as a nice person and say it with your chest.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
