The "Mentor" Talks About Her Church's Mentoring Progam

Lori gives details about the mentoring program

lorialexander.blogspot.com/2013/03/our-churchs-mentoring-program.htm

Our church has been doing a mentoring program for many years. I joined it about four years ago. The first night, all the mentors and mentees gather in a large circle and have three minutes to share a little bit about their lives.

The leaders have agreed to give me more than one woman since my passion is teaching the younger women to love their husband, love their children, etc. This time I have three women. I have mentored many women through this program and love it!

I have decided this is the only ministry I want to put my time into. There is such a huge need for older women to be mentoring younger women. It seems the majority of women are floundering in their marriages, in the process of getting divorced, or divorced.

I have mentored young women in their early twenties all the way to women who are almost 60 years old. I have mentored women whose husbands were having an affair, deeply involved in pornography, wanting to get divorced, and women who simply wanted to improve their marriages.

Not one of the women I have mentored in the past ten years has gotten a divorce. I am not saying this to brag about my mentoring ability but to brag on God. His ways work. He commands the older women to teach the younger women.

Here is a link to Lori's church. Lori has never revealed the name of her church on the blog. But she revealed last year that the head pastor is the father of two members of the band Switchfoot. With that info, it was easy for me to find out which church she attends.

The church seems pretty mainstream and some members are probably less conservative than Lori. But the church promotes Mark Driscoll/Mars Hill theology too.

I think one of Lori's mentees will be end up divorced later on. As I've said before, I wouldn't be surprised if one of those women is being abused partially because of Lori's advice.

Lori makes me think of an article I read in a women's magazine (Glamour?) about a woman who was a major spokesperson for women staying at home, not having careers, propping up her husband, etc. Then on their 40th anniversary, her husband sent her a 16 page letter explaining why he was divorcing her. With no work history, she had an extremely hard time getting a job that could allow her to live independently. The first time she filed for taxes after the divorce, she found out she qualified for food stamps. When she went to a niece's baby shower, she overheard someone asking the mother-to-be if she planned on going back to work after the birth. The niece responded, "Yes! I don't want to end up like Aunt [Name]!" Just because none of Lori's mentees (or Lori herself) have gotten a divorce doesn't mean that they won't in the future, and they will be up a creek without a paddle if they follow her advice.

I get the strong that Lori will never be divorced. I think Ken likes keeping up appearances too. But let's say a divorce happened, Lori would be screwed in a few ways. She did work as a teacher for a few years. But that almost 30 years ago. I can see Ken being the type to not give Lori a divorce settlement.

Lori lives that near to me? I may scream. I did not expect her to be close enough that I could have seen her.

Wait a minute. Hold the phone. Her church started a mentoring program 4 years, but she goes on to say none of the women she's mentored in the last TEN years have gotten a divorce.

Hmmmm..... :liar:

The mentoring program itself is described for new believers and is centered on aspects of personal faith and growth not on homemaking, being a helpmeet, or submitting. I wonder how far afield she goes from the other mentors.

ETA: It's possible they have two women's mentoring programs.

I'll be on the lookout for unabomber types.

I wondered about that too. Maybe she has been mentoring women outside of her church.

Her actual statements:

Maybe she mentored at a different church? Mentored outside the program? Doesn't know what the heck she's babbling about?

No. No. No. NO! These issues need a trained counselor not an uneducated "lay counselor". This woman is so dangerous!

What does that mean? They look at it occasionally? They film it? They go balls deep while someone else films it? They call in sick to work so they can stay home and wank it to milf porn? Where is the line of "deeply involved?"
