An Open Letter to the Church from a Lesbian - sad

This makes me so sad. How awful to live hating oneself so much, and in the name of God at that :(

To those of you who would change the church to accept the gay community and its lifestyle: you give us no hope at all. To those of us who know God’s word and will not dilute it to fit our desires, we ask you to read John’s letter to the church in Pergamum. “I have a few things against you: You have people there who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin by eating food sacrificed to idols and by committing sexual immorality. Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Repent therefore!†You are willing to compromise the word of God to be politically correct. We are not deceived. If we accept your willingness to compromise, then we must also compromise. We must therefore accept your lying, your adultery, your lust, your idolatry, your addictions, YOUR sins. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.â€

We do not ask for your acceptance of our sins any more than we accept yours. We simply ask for the same support, love, guidance, and most of all hope that is given to the rest of your congregation. We are your brothers and sisters in Christ. We are not what we shall be, but thank God, we are not what we were. Let us work together to see that we all arrive safely home.

Sexual immorality is a pretty vague term. I can never see a loving relationship between people of any gender as sexual immorality.

Odd...I view "the same support, love, guidance" to mean full acceptance. There is no sin in love.

If I hate anything, it's religion that makes people hate themselves.

I was thinking about that term too. What, exactly, would have been considered "sexual immorality" back when John wrote this letter a couple thousand years ago?

Pretty sure it's referring to temple prostitution, going by it being in the same sentence as eating food sacrificed to idols. New Testament condemnation of 'homosexuality' is really condemnation of the use of youths as sexual partners for much older/more authoritative men (these were not equal relationships) or temple prostitution/orgies.

Jesus blessed a gay centurion and his lover:

(not breaking link because Gay Christian 101 is unlikely to mind our presence)

Yes. Temples at the time had prostitutes for worshippers to have ritual sex with as part of the Baal worship of the time. This had nothing to do with homosexuality or homosexual romantic relationships.

Does she not notice that most churches accept lying, adultery/divmorce, lust idolatry, additions and other sins. I've thought for a while that any church that is particularly "on" about gay marriage,is doing it for one of two main reasons. Preacher has an eye for the men, OR preaching about a sin few of your congregation are interested in means little impact on the collection plate. Or both.

Oh, go back under your bridge. Wanting people to be treated as the equals they are is a GOOD thing. The rest is bullshit. You don't know how such churches work at all.

Or maybe they feel that it's stupid and completely unChristian NOT to let someone into the church because the person they love is someone of the same gender and don't understand the anger?

My sweet pup was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September. She passed away in my arms on Thanksgiving morning. It all happened so fast. She didn't want to eat anything the day before, but prior to that was ok. Knew it was near time and had booked an appointment to take her next week. However, she decided for me. She was only 8 and really was one of the best dogs. She never met a stranger, human or dog. Life isn't the same without her.

I made my first Granny Square! After nearly 30 years of knitting and crocheting this was a project I never did. Until now! I needed something to do with my rest of very colourful yarn and now I am very happy. I need to try different needles with my yarns but I think I found something nice for the future.
I needed only 3 different youtube videos until I found a person who explained the concept slowly and repetitive and with words I can understand. I hate when these tutorials make me feel dumb.

Someone please remind me to buy peanut butter. Seriously, I have been meaning to get some for at least three weeks, and everytime I remember, the shops are already closed!

You know what I hate most about subtle racism? The gaslighting. Stop cosplaying as a nice person and say it with your chest.

We had to put our 14 year old dachshund, Trinket, down today.  She was fine Thursday, but by mid-morning yesterday, it was apparent that something was really wrong,  She had zero energy, lost her appetite and began walking into corners.  By morning I knew it was time for her to have her final visit to the vet.  She had lost about a pound and a half recently.  RIP, Trinket!

Horrific! A 6 year old boy was murdered, and mother severly injured, in a hate crime in Chicago. Reports say they are both Palestinian Muslims and were specifically targeted because of that. Thankfully the man who did it is in custody
      This is pure evil
