One of the leghumpers posted an invite to their special olympics polar plunge after they heard they'd be in town. Of course, they arent going to be doing anything thats hard on their hearts for a good cause... but they are going to be at a megachurch! Of course they are!

Interestingly, the page has been taken down... but google still has the cache!

I wonder why the Lincoln Daily news would pull such a well written work of journalism?

Why shouldnt the world know that the Duggars will be making an appearance at Park Meadows Baptist Church on March 17th? Its right there on the Church's website... which doesnt appear to be crawled by google...

Anyone in the area wanna head on over for some sooper sekret Duggar speech that they perhaps dont want google to know about? The last time we caught them at a baptist mega church Michelle went over the famous "hand out" which included a step by step instruction book on being a good, submissive doormat.

Right... I need more caffeine! Sooo... they're headed to Davilla country!

They will probably pay Davilla a visit. If a camera crew is around expect SmugAnna to be giving baby advice.

Dear God, do these people ever stop going on trips? How can the younger kids possibly be getting any stability or continuity with their 'education'? It must be exhausting.

So true, I do worry for the kids education-if theyre off travelling, I bet they arent doing much school work. Its also unfair on the kids to be going on so many trips, cause what kids need is a stable home and routine, and theyre not getting much stability if theyre always travelling.

Duggars in my home state? I'm terribly dissapointed I won't be there. However I'll send friends/relatives to go and gawk for me! I'm sure my sisters would love doing some undercover work...

I wonder if this church is connected to Park View Christian Academy? If memory serves the school was hardly fundie at all.

Looks like they are buddy-buddy with the pastor of that church. They visited back in June 2010. I know nothing of this church...I haven't ever recalled seeing many fundies in Lincoln in all the years I lived there. The closest thing to fundies I saw were conservative Mennonites.

Duggar Family Visits Park Meadows Baptist Church

Send a link to a friend

[June 25, 2010] --Can you imagine what it would be like to rear 19 children?

Jim Bob Duggar and his wife Michelle can tell you all about it.

Duggar, whose large family is the focus of the hit TLC network show 19 Kids and Counting, recently paid a surprise visit to Park Meadows Baptist Church.

Duggar is a good friend of Pastor S.M. Davis, who has guided the flock at Park Meadows for more than 35 years. “We got to know them years ago when I was conducting a meeting in Arkansas,†said Davis. “They drove a couple of hours to hear me preach. We went to their home and spent the afternoon with them.â€

Davis, whose ministry to families has gained national attention, was conducting a Family Conference in North Carolina when Duggar and 12 of his brood dropped in for a Sunday morning service.

For years Duggar has benefitted from Davis’ media ministry, relying on his recorded messages to help rear his own children and give advice to others seeking direction in the difficult task of parenting.

“I get asked a lot of questions about childrearing and many people seek my counsel about their family,†said Duggar. “I often point them to Pastor Davis’ website, Solve Family Problems.â€

Duggar has had a trying few weeks. Two of his children recently left for a mission trip to Indonesia while eight of them have had chicken pox. In the midst of this, his wife’s father passed away after a lengthy illness.

All of this on top of the fact that the latest addition to their family is still under doctor’s care in Little Rock. Michelle had pre-eclampsia and delivered her latest blessing three months prematurely. The little girl they named Josie weighed less than two pounds at birth and has been under constant medical supervision since her arrival seven months ago.

Duggar, whose Christian faith is the centerpiece of his life, takes it all in stride. Whether trying to keep up with his miniature army of children or standing at the front of a church while a line of people unaware that he had driven through the night wait to speak with him, there is a calmness about him.

This inner peace he exudes stems from his relationship with God.

“When I was approached about doing the show, I agreed to do it on one condition,†recalls Duggar. “I told them we would do it if we didn’t have to hide our Christian faith.†The network made a wise decision to allow the Duggars to express their faith, and TLC has been rewarded with a hit television show.

They can't be getting much education at all.

With all those kids, they have to have at least a few introverts. I'm one myself, and the thought of being dragged around on trips, making public appearances, and having no privacy ever is so unpleasant to me. It seriously makes my skin crawl. I like (need!) plenty of unstructured time on my own, at home, to decompress and do my own thing. Just one of many reasons why I cannot IMAGINE being a Duggar.

Yeah, they have a few introverts. Id say definetly John, Joseph and Jenny are.

Since I'm obviously low on caffeine and geography today...

How far is this church from the Davilla homestead? I'm assuming the Duggars are plopping themselves down to film the arrival of the littlest thief!

Damn I'm dissapointed! Nebraska was spared...this time.

Lincoln is a good 2.5-3 hours of boring cornfields away from Chicago proper. Maybe a little less to Oak Brook.

Lincoln, IL is just shy of 3 hours away from Oak Park. Depending on traffic.

Yep, about 175 miles. Wonder if they will show up in time to welcome the little pecan thief?

But I do wonder about this traveling all over the place. The kids must be totally exhausted and no time for any sort of schoolwork.

Dear Duggars,

Please, please don't contaminate the fine city of Chicago, Il with your stupidity and pompousness!!!! That is the city I was born in.

I live 30 minutes from Lincoln, IL. Trying to get my sister to go with me. Will update when/if I make it there.

Good luck! I'm about 2 hours away, and I'm not so sure the snark updates are worth the trip. Maybe if there is yummy food on the way or:smile: near

Kthanksbai,

Sadly, the Duggars have visited Chicago before. There was a chaperoned J Slave trip there that was filmed for the show. It was also rumored that the Duggars dropped off Jana near Chicago at Gothard headquarters for a job last year. So far there has been no solid proof that Jana spent a long time in Chicago. I agree, with your concern for the city you were born in. I would be freaked out if Duggars visited my home state, but a part of me wishes they would visit New Mexico because they would likely freak out some of the ethnic traditions that go on here and Boob would make an ass out of himself at one of the Pueblos.

Might they also be dropping off a J'Slave at ATI headquarters for a husband-hunting internship?

[and pay homage to their Pope, Gothard the First?]
