I love in this picture how Mackynzie is pushed to the side .It almost looks like they forgot she was even there.

I do find the body language of the picture weird. Josh and Anna are leaning into each other, which centers the focus of the picture on them and Josh has his arms around only Anna and Michael. Basically, Josh and Anna are engaging each other and Michael but Mack is off completely by herself. It basically looks like a picture of a sweet family of three where, like, the maid happened to photobomb it. And actually, given the role of girls in Gothard's world, that may not be too far from the reality of it.

Mack looks happy in the picture. It’s possible that they took several shots with her closer to the rest of them or sitting with them, and she was miserable looking in them (smart girl), so they picked this one as the best one where everyone is happy. Although actually, Michael is looking a touch freaked out in the shot…

I thought that was weird too... Usually couples with 2 small children will have one sitting on each parents' lap. Even when I was 7 and too old for that, I was at least standing in front of my parents, looking like I belonged.

That's how I think this picture happened too. They probably tried both kids on laps and Mack didn't want to sit so they let her up and she ran around on the porch they got her to come over and snapped the picture. Now if Josh and Anna requested that Mack go off to the side that's messed up.

I wouldn't read much into it. Toddlers are active. I hear that getting decent family portraits with wiggly young children is very challenging.

All I can see is the dead leaves in the back. Would have been a cuter pic if Mac was leaning on her dad or mom. But if she leaned on Anna, Josh's rings would be showing. She looks like a normal healthy 2 year old. I am always impressed when you can get kids smiling in a pic, I haven't had the best family pic luck.

She's a cute little girl. I hope the chubby comment was not meant to be derogatory. If so, that's horribly uncalled for.

The pose is kinda awkward. But, maybe that's the only one where she was smiling? Taking pictures with two young kids can be rough sometimes. I was actually thinking it was nice how they aren't completely matchy matchy. And the Mac's clothes look comfy for a little kid to play in.

I didn't even look at it this way until I saw this post. But you're right, it is a bit awkward. But knowing how kids are, she might have not wanted to sit still for a photo. Maybe they tried a few with her sitting with the rest of the family and she just wouldn't do it. I honestly think they're an adorable family...in print. But knowing what we know, I just feel bad for Mackynzie :/

I think that the best part of the picture is how happy and adorable Mack looks in the picture. Also I like how just looking at Mack, I can avoid looking at Josh.

Also, Anna looks good in the picture too.

It would be so awkward if Josh's arm wasn't around Anna. That would have separated them.

I would bet the photographer didn't tell Josh to put his arm around Anna, and he did it on his own.

Mackynzie is quite strong willed and also two years old- I would imagine that this is the pose that she wanted to do! She looks very happy, so I would be inclined to read absolutely nothing into this arrangement.

Also, she is a toddler. Toddlers sometimes get chubby.

I think this pose does not represent the dynamic of this family. Rather, it represents the skill (or lack thereof) of the photographer.

My mom found the news yesterday and this photo about the pregnancy. She doesn't follow the Duggars (they make her sick,) but she knows I do. The first thing she mentioned was how much weight Josh and Anna have gained. She hadn't seen them since the wedding episode. When I pointed out that Anna is and has been pregnant for the past few years, she said, "Yes, but even the kids are overweight. That little girl.... her weight doesn't look healthy." There comes a point when you have to look critically and see if maybe her weight is an issue. Children who become obese are most likely going to be obese their whole lives. She might not be obese now, but she's pretty darn close.
