Jodi Arias Trial

Has anyone been keeping up with this case? I've followed bits and pieces, plus a good dateline episode about it. I'm convinced she's guilty as sin, but I also don't believe in the death penalty. So just life without parole is what I want to see.

Does anyone know what the deal with the gas cans is?

Apparently she had 3 gas cans full of gas so that she wouldn't have to stop on her escape trip to buy gas (stopping to buy gas would leave a trail of documentation of her trip between Arizona and California), either in credit card receipts or on security cams. Since she bought the gas cans ahead of time, this is being used as an indicator of premeditation.

I have been watching and reading about the trial here and there. There is a fundie element to this case since Travis was Mormon and he got Jodi to convert. I watched that Dateline episode and I think there is a huge chance if convicted that she will get the death penalty.

Ooo that makes sense.

This is a local trial for me, so every morning we get an update on the trial. The level of violence in Travis' killing is enormous. I'm not saying he was an innocent victim (I believe he was totally fucking with her mind, and probably acting in a predatory manner), but damn, did she do a number on him.

I agree, Travis was fucking with her mind. He didn't deserve to be murdered like a heinous way, but he wasn't the perfect Mormon role model that some of his friends and relatives have made him out to be. I watched the 48 Hours episode about this case back in 2009 and something about the way Travis' friends talked about him turned me off. One of the friends made some comment on how Travis was a role model and Jodi was jealous of that. I have a few friends and relatives who live in the Phoenix area and they have said that the MLM company that Travis and Jodi worked for is very shady and has a high Mormon involvement.

She has more stories then the bible. She does not seem to have any empathy.

That's true, and while she claims self defense, but it was overkill with 27+ stab wounds, his throat slashed, and a gunshot to the head. He might have been an asshole who was just fucking with her mind and using her just for sex, but he didn't deserve to die the way he did. My guess is that Jodi snapped when he told her that he was never going to marry her, and already had planned to marry a devout Mormon because God told him to. I think if she's convicted, at most she'll get life without parole as the jury might have too much sympathy for her to sentence her to death.

So, I might get some severe blanket-time for this but I have been itching about this Jodi Arias thing. Nevermind that it is on CNN every.fucking.minute.of.the.day. Jingers, help me out here... I certainly don't know all the minute details of the trial however there are a few things that are bothering me.

Jodi has clearly stated that she killed him. I know she killed him but it seems that the media and public opinion have so firmly favored Travis Alexander that there has been no serious discussion about the possible abuse in their relationship. I am guessing that they did have kinky/BDSM sex -- but commenters/journalists/calls seem to feel that she is completely at fault for any sort of kinky sex and that anything she says about him must be untrue. The violence of her attack, in my mind, couldn't have just come out of the blue. I'm certainly not stating she should not be punished for this nor held responsible for her actions.

It seems that this is a "teachable moment" for domestic violence that is completely being missed as well as a massive amount of slut-shaming.

This woman is crazy as hell. She's guilty and should be in prison for the rest of her life. I do agree that Travis isn't all that innocent neither. Didn't know he was Mormon.

11 jurors in the new penalty trial wanted a death sentence, but 1 held out, so she's getting life. Made Nancy Grace even more batshit than usual.

The weird thing is that in Arizona a jury can't give life without parole, they can just give life and then the judge decides if she's eligible for parole. So while I'm totally against the death penalty, I can see where jurors who believe in it would be reluctant to give her life if they think she can get out eventually. I totally understand that, because she's dangerous as hell. I followed the original trial, just got mesmerized, and I totally think that if she gets paroled in 20 years in 20 years and one week someone else is going to be dead.

After watching the original trial, I think she's going to kill someone else if she manages to get paroled at some point. As the death penalty is now off the table, I really hope the judge sentences her to life without the possibility of parole. From what I've heard, she hasn't been allowed to have visitors since the jury wasn't able to fully agree to the death penalty.

I followed this trial since day one years ago. I was appalled that the jury was hung again....11-1. I am still angry about the verdict. That judge better not have an ounce of sympathy for this beast and give her life without parole. I don't think she should ever see the outside of the prison gates ever again. Then she can rot in hell for all eternity.

Jodi is going to hopefully spend the rest of her miserable life in jail. It sucks that the hold out juror wasn't caught sooner. Also, I'd be fine if I never saw any of the Duh-fense team or the judge again. They're all evil.

Sometimes I think life in prison is more of a punishment for people like Jodi than death row. At least now she has to suffer a mind-numbingly boring (and hopefully long) life. Her ability to manipulate others will be minimized. Her fellow inmates will likely not make her time there pleasant or comfortable. If she was put on death row, her earthly suffering would be cut short.

It is not right that prisoners can have Facebook and Twitter. Even if it is done by someone on the outside. She has lots of groupies that help with her self promotion and put money in her prison account. She sells her art for profit by using outside assistance. By skirting laws prohibiting criminals from profiting from their "art" implemented after Wayne Casey murderbillia. Her quality of life is better than many people struggling to make ends meet. Is that justice? I don't think so! :naughty: :naughty:
