I started this thread to discuss some of the leghumping dumb comments from the FB page. Feel free to add ones that you see.

The Duggars weren't completely well when the show first started, they received donations in the years prior to the show and they still receive donations. Also the books had decent sales numbers, but nothing huge, the Duggars will never make mega money off their books. The speaking engagement offers will dry up at some point.

It's funny. I knew right away after watching some old episodes WHY a godly family would be doing this: To glorify God and point people to His Son. I never had any doubts. I love the Duggars. I am so grateful that they allowed us into their lives. I feel like I "know" their family personally. Josie is an inspiration for anyone. I prayed for her much. Your entire family is a testament to how God wants us to live. You are not perfect, and that is OK. But, you do practice every second of every day, serving as God's children.

There is a lot of shit you don't know about the Duggars.

Dafuq? What kind of a freaking moron do you have to be to not be able to find the Duggars' address. They put one right on their website. And that's assuming that you don't have the toddler-level GoogleFu that it takes to find their real address through a simple property search. Idiots.

In what universe is it "doing well" to make 8-9 children sleep in a single bedroom? For kids not to have beds to sleep on? For them to have to wear shoes that are molded to other people's feet? For the record, I would never be bothered to condemn the grammar or punctuation of another FreeJingerite. Given that the subjects we discuss would drive anyone headfirst into a bottle of Corona, it's a small miracle that we even manage to navigate the forum, let alone use proper punctuation.

OK, this is off topic but I haven't figured out how to PM people. I'm super curious about where you're from in Quebec. I'm an ESL teacher and 90% of my students are from Quebec.

I love the Duggers family they always warm my heart Watchin them journey their lives with there beautiful children is great . Jami, people fire at the Duggars because they have nothing better to do than pick on a Christian family, which as you said, are following calling from Jesus Christ. Even though the are sinners like the rest of us (from birth) they strive to live their lives in service to GOD and in doing so they have unfortunately become the target of hatred. Thank the Lord they are able to forgive and forget when it comes to the haters here and elsewhere. GOD bless them and their ministry and service to others.

The Duggars don't have a ministry and I know one educated and ordained minister who is digusted whenever he hears the Duggars say they use the show to minister to others.

The older girls would be free to leave if they really hated it so much but none of them have chosen to do that and that says a lot. They seem to enjoy their siblings. I often looked after a sibling of mine that was eight years younger than me when I was a teenager. I don't remember ever resenting it but enjoyed the responsibility and chance to make a fuss of her! Still feel the same way about her now and she's a 23 year old doing a Masters degree :-) Helping out at home and with siblings makes you less selfish and gives you skills for future life - particularly if you are going to have children yourself. Well done Duggar family!

Oh Elspeth you likely didn't spend most of your time caring for younger sister. The Duggar girls aren't just simply helping out, they are 24/7 sister moms and there is nothing the Duggars have done well. There is nothing admirable about a 22 year old like Jana still constantly caring for her siblings. The J'Slaves aren't gaining a lot of skills for a future life. If they left the family, they would have a hard time trying to get by with no outside work experience and lack of job skills.

look how many teen issues we have. the only reason people put the duggars down is because the are doing an outstanding job raising 19 kids without any kind of government assistence or from anyone else. you most are upset with themselves and want to shift their anger to the duggars. be careful on how you express yourself. God is listening to everything you say. and the Duggars are walking the path the Lord has sent them on. Leave the Duggars alone. and deal with your own issues before you start hasseling their family.

The Duggars haven't done an outstanding job of raising 19 kids. Josh is pretty much supported by Boob who is the owner of the car lots and his TLC money. John David is the only who seems to work a lot. Jill's midwife training isn't that great . Jana, Jessa, and Jinger have no work experience. Also just because the Duggars have never been on government assistance doesn't make them any better than those who are on it. It is also well known that Boob and Mullet took food and clothing donations before TLC.

The past mooching is always ignored by the Duggar leghumpers even though Boob and Mullet have publicly admitted to it. I will never forget this past thread from 2004 from another forum, in which Michelle's high school classmate rips them to the shreds and also confirmed the church handouts.

I've heard that defense before and it is pretty lame. Those donations likely only happened because some of the church members felt sorry for Boob and Mullet and probably worried about the kids not having enough food or clothes. I bet some of the church or community members probably got annoyed with the Duggars years ago. I think a lot of people who are ok with having to help out families when stuff like job loss, illness, or injury hapens, but some people might grow tired of having to constantly being encouraged to give donations to a couple who can't completely support a large family. I think the only time Boob and Mullet weren't getting donations was probably when they only had 4 or 5 kids.

I hate it because they are presented as the only two alternatives. It's such a strawman argument. My group of best friends when I was finishing high school was all-girl, all-atheist, all-virgin, and our idea of fun was making cupcakes and playing board games and badminton. We don't fit into their dichotomy?

Honestly though I think I also would prefer an occasional drug-using child to a child locked in a cult.

The 'strongest' Christians I've met have had no problem fucking, drinking, or getting high. Oh, they'll go on about how sinful they are and how much they deserve to go to hell on Sundays, but they get over it by Monday.

Unfortunately in Duggarland every day is Sunday, and that's not healthy. I can't imagine the guilt the kids feel for just being human.
