These were floating around my tumblr and I just had to share. Apparently, the page is in a Christian children's coloring book.

That....doesn't look like the Hindu version of Buddha. However if he IS Hindu then he probably does know about Jesus as a) India has an ancient community of Christians, mostly in the south, certainly older than all the churches in the US and b) many Hindus believe Jesus to be an avatar of Vishnu, like Krishna or Buddha.

Darn! I was hoping this was a thread about my most favorite coloring book: Uncle Shelby's ABZ Book

It would make all the fundie's heads explode.

Christian fundies really don't research other religions when they write their info propaganda; do they?  Buncha self-righteous assholes.

You haven't seen anything yet. I forgot, but there's also a nice screenshot of a book showing a picture with buddhist monks/ a girl praying in a shrine, and telling kids that 'help save them'

This is an impression I got from many things I've read, written by fundies themselves: They really seem to think if Non-Christians were only preached the RIGHT gospel (the particular interpretation they happen to hold dear), they would convert. But many people are well-informed about Christianity, even leave Christianity, and those people obviously know the gospel and still want no part of it.

This fundie-behaviour is particularly offensive to me, in the same manner I dislike statements about me being child free ("You will change your mind, wit and see!"). It is blatant disrespect of free will and individuality, not to mention intelligence and education.

But then, the want a theocracy with themselves as the monarch, so I shouldn't wonder.

Way back in the '80s, I happened across a Pat-Robertson-style "Christian" TV talk show in which two people (heavily invested in public school textbook selection) sat tut-tutting about this book, obviously too clueless to appreciate its wicked satire. I remember thinking, "Geez, folks--kids are a HELL of a lot smarter than you are!"

ETA: I know little about Buddhism, but isn't it a non-theistic religion?

Buddhism centers around self improvement. That is to say, you can guide yourself to heaven. Something fundie hate to be sure. The "gods" are kind of like saints in Catholicism, people who have guided themselves to heaven.

There are both theist and atheist Buddhists, but no, there is nothing in general Buddhist practice that requires that you strictly speaking believe in any god or gods.
