Anyone see the comment from a humper who thought the Duggars actually saved money andpaid for their Asia trip?

Found comment. But one guy Neil gave a good post about why TLC paid for the trip.

Sylvia

Maureen, the Duggars pay for their trips. They earn their own money and invest wisely.

Neil

You really, seriously think the Duggars paid the airfare and hotel costs for 18 children, Jim Bob and Michelle, Josh and Anna and their two kids and Jim Bob's mother?

The trip was part of their show.. it was all paid by TLC!

The trip is part of their job. Their job is being on the show.

Would a business executive pay for their own business trip?

Do celebrities pay for their travel and hotel accommodation when they travel around promoting their latest movie?

I'm glad Neil gave a smackown on Sylvia.

Sylvia and many of the leghumpers don't realize how cheap Boob is. There is no way Boob would have paid for 20 plus people to go on that trip. Boob despite having other businesses and making money from real estate is still not going to pay for extravagant trips out of his pocket. The TLC money is part of the reason, the Duggars are comfortable these days. If the leghumpers continue following the Duggars after the show finally ends, they will notice the extravagant trips will be gone and the only types of overseas trips the Duggars will be doing are mission trips to Central America.

I have also seen comments from leghumpers who think that the Duggars make megabucks from the show. The Duggars probably don't make much additional profits from the show. Their DVD and VOD sales are low. It has been rumored that they didn't receive residuals during the period when TLC and DFH used to rerun the show in the mornings. A few years ago, I got into it with a Duggar leghumper on another site. I said something that the Duggars could easily end up with financial problems if they had a special needs child. The leghumper told he this, "The Duggars will always be ok, they also make money off their books and DVDs."

They might have made ok money off their books. The DVDs not so much. The Duggars also don't make other additional profits because they aren't marketable for other things. The Kardashian girls do modeling gigs and have a perfume line. The Jersey Shore kids got endorsement deals for several products. None of the adult Duggar kids are marketable for modeling or endorsing products aimed at younger demographics. Let's face it Josh and Anna aren't a very attractive couple. The J'Slaves minus Jana aren't attractive either. The Duggars aren't hip enough to plug for cool mainstream Christian products. I laugh at anytime the leghumpers try to make it seem like the Duggars are mega rich from the show.

Overall, the huge problem with the leghumpers is that they don't understand how reality TV works and they don't realize that in some ways the Duggars are owned by TLC. TLC is barely interested in the Duggars these days. I predict two more seasons and then the show is done.

Actually I think Jessa is very pretty too, but modelling is immodest. They might use their fundie royalty status to endorse Fundie-friendly products and companies. They may get paid handsomely for that. I don't see them ever going mainstream again after the show. They're not relatable enough.

I'm excited to watch TLC throw the duggars under a bus. I feel like China and Japan was for that purpose - TLC wouldn't make that investment if they didnt think they were setting the duggars up to make fools of themselves for entertainment.

I'm hoping that TLC does throw the Duggars under the bus. But I think TLC is giving them another season after this. Someone here said that their mom spotted the Duggars being filmed at a store recently.

I am gonna look up just how much a trip to Asia costs for 25 ppl. THey took trips before the show but it was nothing extravagant; Silver Dollar City , ohio to visit Michelle's family, and Washington DC when Jim Bob ran for state rep.

Anyhow, from what I gathered, 3/4 from their home state oF Ak can't figure out why they are even famous.

The Duggars are not from AK. AK is Alaska. I have no idea where they are from.

Too funny, I've only seen the show a couple of times when it first started. They didn't seem to be well-off, but did own a used car lot. They took kids to annual homeschooling conferences and church camp stuff in an RV towing a U-Haul.

They got their home from Extreme Homemakover (TLC). They got perpetual wardrobes donated from some department store. Hundreds of pounds of gifts and offers and stuff in the mail from complete strangers.

Kind of like Jon and Kate. God provides, right? I think the show started because of a public fascination with the number of kids at that time. There were a couple of other shows like this. The public has moved on to something else. This show has only sustained because they developed a real following.

Of course the show paid for trip! Good lord, how stupid are people?

Duggar was born into a financially solid family and undoubtedly got a good start in life. Fourth-generation realty firm. They were not poor.

"After graduating from Fayetteville High School in 1955, he attended the University of Arkansas, and served in the Army ROTC. He married Mary Duggar in 1960. In 1962, he became a third generation real estate agent in Duggar Realty that his grandfather J.T. Duggar established in 1933.

He loved buying and selling property, cars, and making "big" trades. Among many of his real estate transactions, he sold sites for the Springdale Holiday Inn & Convention Center, McDonald's on U.S. 412, Heritage Funeral Home and the new Tamales Restaurant coming soon on 48th Street. He was an incredible salesman."

Many of the Duggar leghumpers are stupid and I hate to be mean. Like I mentioned before, they don't realize certain things about the Duggars or reality shows. Some of the leghumpers who are claiming that the Duggars financed the trip themselves probably don't even know how expensive traveling can be.

My favorite example of this was when someone was complaining on the FB page about the poor condition of the Bates family horses and how that should have been edited out of the show, and Diane responded, "How can they edit footage that was filmed months ago?"

Excerpted from THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS January 5, 2006

For two years, the Discovery Health Channel has chronicled the family through a series of documentaries. When Johanna Faith was born Oct. 11, the network's cameras captured footage for the series' next installment, to be aired in March.

Greeting the media has become commonplace since the birth of the Duggars' 16th child. They don't have a precise budget, Jim Bob said, but it takes about $5,000 a month to operate their household. They live off the rental income from commercial property they own debt-free.

When the family moves into its new home this month, TLC television will be there to film a program akin to the home-makeover reality shows. Sponsors are donating food for the pantry and appliances, such as washers and dryers. Then, Discovery Health is sending the Duggars on a trip west to Disneyland and a dude ranch.

Jim Bob said he sensed God encouraging him to run for the U.S. Senate in 2003, but he lost. He now believes God's purpose was fulfilled, he said, in a most unexpected way: When he and Michelle went to vote, with 14 children in tow, an Associated Press photographer was present. The family photo appeared the next day in The New York Times.

Michelle was contacted by Parents magazine to write a story on parenting. Discovery Health Channel then arranged to shoot the documentaries. There were more children and reporters to chronicle the new arrivals.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Cancelled After Nine Seasons

Hollywood, CA – After nine years anchoring ABC’s reality television line-up, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will air its final, and 200th, episode this weekend. “It’s a somber day at the Disney Corporation,†said ABC president Paul Lee while sitting atop a large pile of money, made mostly by pushing Disney’s liberal agenda.

“But business is business and the viewers have spoken. Americans aren’t interested in watching people help people on TV. It’s just boring. Single moms, tornado victims, blah, blah, blah. Americans want drunk girls from New Jersey. Extreme Makeover can’t compete with those other, more dramatic reality shows.â€

EMHE, which took viewers through the process of building dream homes for desperate families, made efforts to borrow programming ideas from more successful reality shows. Sadly, these attempts never caught on.

“There was the time in season 4 when we hired a crew of bikini-clad women and made them sit in tanks full of live snakes.†EMHE host, Ty Pennington claimed.

"But they were so jittery afterwards that they were unable to cut right angles." Pennington continued, “The problem with working with reality TV stars is that they actually believe that they are TV stars.

Additionally, the problem with working with Michelle Duggar is that her uterus kept falling out on the worksite. That's not safe.â€

One can’t say that EMHE didn’t try to evolve. Other plans to increase viewership included nine bachelorettes living together, fighting to avoid backstabbing and gonorrhea, all while trying build a house and win the heart of one lucky man at the same time.

“We even aired a special show in season 6 where we built a halfway house for former b-list celebrities.†Lee stated.

Neither Flavor-Flav nor that other Baldwin brother could be reached for comment. All in all, former host Ty Pennington is maintaining a positive outlook. “I know whatever I do next, I want to help people.â€

When asked if he would consider doing something in scripted television, Pennington replied, “What’s that?â€

It's satire, of course.

I missed that comment from Diane. Her response is really stupid. She must also think that scripted shows aren't edited. Diane and some of the other leghumpers don't realize that TLC shoots tons of footage.
