I need to make something cute for an impending baby girl. Anyone have a pattern they think is awesome they would like to share?

ETA: Crochet preferred, but n00b!friendly knitting would be ok too.

What kind of crochet pattern are you looking for, e.g. blanket, sweater, booties, hat? Do you want a quick project or something that would take more time and are you looking for projects at the beginner or intermediate levels?

I have links to literally hundreds of free crochet patterns and possibly triple that amount of knitting patterns on the Net. I do a lot of knitting and crocheting for my grandkids and did the same when my kids were little. I'm sure we can find you something fun for this baby and her mum.

I am probably an advanced beginner or intermediate with crochet, as in I am familiar with how to do most stitches, but have only ever really made blankets. With knit, I am still a beginner - I know how to knit / purl, increase, and decrease. I have traditionally made baby blankets when people get pregnant, but I'd like to try something new. I'm open to pretty much anything cute in babyweight yarn. I have a crapload of it I bought when my local yarn store went out of business (sniffle).

Ok then, what about a baby sweater. Here are some cute patterns:

1. I really like this one: http://deboracroche.blogspot.ca/2008/01 ... ch-to.html

This is a similar pattern with a hood:

2. You could be creative with colour for this next pattern and would learn the cluster stitch if you don't know it already. If you haven't registered on the Paton site you would have to in order to see this pattern:

3. This is also a 2 colour pattern; I love the stitch work: http://www.patternsforcrochet.co.uk/coat-hat-usa.html

4. If you are looking for something quirky, here is a sweater made of 2 hexagon granny squares: http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/hexagon-jacket.html

I've made this one before and it was pretty easy.

This was for my vet again, hence the odd yarn choice for a baby ;)

I didn't like the closure on the front, so just used a button. I like buttons. I may or may not have a side hobby of button collecting just to put on baby clothes.

I love this one. I haven't seen it before, it must be newish. I sent it to my husband to print for me. I print all the patterns I like and put them in 3 ring binders because I have found so many patterns that I bookmark and they they end up going 404 on me before I get them made :(
