Duggar Howler Injury?

Buzzard

Recommended Posts

Seeing as Justin is a feral howler, I'd bet on an injury of some sort.

If it happened during TLC taping or if his family otherwise managed to record his suffering, I'm sure we'll get the details in the upcoming weeks. Duggar In Danger (Again!)

I think its just a pirate eyepatch from a costume, that wasnt taken off because Michelle didnt notice or care. It doesnt look like a medical one.

I had an eye infection when I was 7 years old. I had a black eyepatch just like the one Justin's wearing. I thought it was pretty cool (the "pirate" patch, not the infection...).

One of my kids recently had to wear a patch for a few days because of a corneal scratch from those wood chips they use on outdoor playgrounds. He thought it was TOTALLY AWESOME.

Josiah does look great. He's the best dressed out of all of them simply because he cares and puts forth a little effort. No one else in the family seems to bother with their appearance; James is in the front row with a shirt untucked, one of them came to Thanksgiving dinner in a dirty T shirt and we regularly see the little girl's hair unbrushed.

Well, if you consider me a friend, then no. You now have a friend with a lazy eye.

Not all lazy eyes turn in or out very dramatically. Mine wasn't noticed until I was 7, the first time my eyes were examined, because even though my eyes didn't work together, the lazy one didn't turn in often enough to send off a red flag to anyone. Unfortunately, by then, my eyes were already "set" (the brain has a way of compensating) and the treatment was not successful. There was no surgery at that time, or if there was, it was probably way too invasive to bother with a milder case of amblyopia.

I'm also one who had lazy eye growing up, and it's possible that I wore the patch, but I don't remember that as a treatment. For the most part, I wore glasses which eventually worked, although it made me a target for bullying as I was one of the few kids in my school with glasses. This was before laser surgery was available, so surgery would have been too invasive for me at the time.

I went through a period from about middle school to my 20's when I didn't need glasses as it fixed my lazy eye. Then, in my mid 20's I found out that I was having trouble seeing things in the distance, so I knew I needed glasses as everyone else in my family has gotten glasses as adults for the same reason. I still have a slight lazy eye, but it's only noticeable if I'm really tired and not wearing glasses.

With that Duggar Howler, at least someone noticed a lazy eye, but it also could be an injury.

I had a patch for a lazy eye, and my mom made (sewed) my patches so they would fit snugly over my eyeglasses. I don't think it really matters what you use for a patch as long as it's going to cover the eye and block light... I can't imagine a doctor would be mad if a kid would comply better with a "pirate" patch as long as it met the specifications.

As for me, the patches worked well enough that I didn't have to have surgery. My non-lazy eye is still dominant, and I use the "lazy" one more for peripheral vision. I also have nystagmus, which is another muscle control issue - my lazy eye shakes and doesn't focus well. For a long time I wore glasses just to keep it in place because otherwise I would get a headache (didn't notice any change in my vision because I still mainly use the other eye), but I have a prescription in the other eye now too. I don't think my lazy eye (without the glasses) is that noticeable unless you're looking for it. I know others who still have really bad lazy eyes without glasses/contacts. My eye doctor said I could get this prism glasses prescription to help keep it in place better, but it hasn't really been enough of a problem for me to consider that (I would have to go to another eye specialist).

This is not an attractive picture in the least. Half of their clothes don't fit correctly and all of the girls clothing is so dated. This picture looks like it belongs in a midwestern church directory, circa 1992.

Those aren't all Duggars are they? I can't tell anymore.

No, theres only about 10 Duggars there, the rest are other people. I dont recognise who the others are.

Is it really just me wondering if he has a black eye, because JB punished him a little to hard?

I'm assuming its an injury and we'll learn about it through the blog somehow. These pics were posted with the Duggar's permission so they had to know it would be noticed. If it isnt medical (and therefore an entire episode) then whatever injury he suffered will likely be leaked somehow.

I can only hope he wasnt injured at the hands of a parent (or sister/brother mom) but I guess you can never be too sure...

My first thought was that Justin got hurt either accidentally or he was fighting with one of his brothers. In other words, a howler injury. I never suspected it might be a parent or a much-older sibling. Even if it was a close-in-age sibling, it seems more likely to be a play fight that got out of hand, not a deliberate punch in the face.

He's not underage under Arkansas law. But still....

Are you actually saying that it is okay that it is okay that an adult make sexual innuendo about a child? Really?

I said nothing of the sort.

I was stating a fact. Despite what other posters claimed in response to the poster who finds him hot, he is not legally underage in the state of Arkansas. 16 is the age of consent and he turns 17 this year. However, the "But still...." portion of my post means I still think it's creepy.

You can unknot your panties now.

My daughter and I both have the same thing, although I was diagnosed at age 3, and my daughter at age 8 (her's is milder than mine). Neither severe enough to require surgery and were treated with corrective lenses.

Now mine only turns in when I'm tired and not wearing my contacts... when I was initially diagnosed, I was farsighted, but now as an adult, I'm extremely myopic.

Maybe it's just a kids toy pirate patch? My (now mid teens) daughter went to school for month straight in second grade wearing a princess tiara and carrying her wand. :P

I apologize, I actually responded to the wrong person.

Kids hurt their eyes all the time, even with the best parental supervision, and even in school. I'd say he probably scratched his eye or something, because I've never noticed a Duggar with a lazy eye, and with all the talking heads they do, it would probably be noticeable.

I wear a tiara on Tuesdays because it's Tiara Tuesday. Seriously, it makes Tuesday much better.
