All you patriarchal homeschoolers who think "government" schools are nothing more than breeding grounds for sin: Take a look at this video

http://ble.ac/13S0xmI

Two nasty stinky "government" high school basketball teams and their coaches went out of their way to make a developmentally disabled student feel like a hero - and judging by the later parts of the video, so did every fan in the stands.

But that doesn't happen in the evil "government" schools, does it? What's that? Oh, it gained fame precisely because it is such a rare thing to happen amongst the great unwashed? Where females and males are encouraged more and more to pursue that which they're good at, instead of what their gender identity says they ought to do?

Listen closely to the kid on the opposing team who made it possible for the disabled student to have yet another try at sinking a basket: he says he was "trained" to treat people by the golden rule. Wow. Parents who take their children to churches run by priests and pastors, or maybe don't take their kids to church at all, still can teach the right things and raise children who turn into good adults.

Something to think about.

Oh, I couldn't watch the video. :/ It sounds like a great story though. However, I do not doubt that public school students have more empathy in general than homeschooled fundies. The "progress of sentiments" which has occured the last century (especially after the holocaust) must have passed the fundies by. They complain at the new "tolerance"-culture (we have become more tolerant than ever before) because they simply can't understand people who are different from themselves. If anyone wonders what the heck I'm talking about, I'm referring to modern moral philosophy ideas (Richard Rorty for example).
