National Council of Father Idolizing Family Integrated Churches is sponsoring two conferences on family economics this year. Check out the families they hold up as idols examples of fine dominionistic living

familyeconomics.com/143-2/meet-the-families/

I'd say it's pretty evident that they all know each other, and if they don't, there's no more than 2 or 3 degrees of separation between "strangers." Whatever distinctions we might tend to make among them, they're all agreed at least on the economics part of their grand plan.

Wow - lots of our "favorites" all gathered in one place.

Are they banding together because they've run into slim pickings when fleecing the sheep preaching to the choir on their own or have they decided there's more money to be made strength in numbers.

I rather imagine it's an "and" thing, not an "or" thing.

Or more plainly stated: Both!!! ;)

If you have 15 min listen to the interview with Steve Maxwell. He talks about his son's jobs. According to him Joseph bills $75 per hour for his programming. How many hours he bills, Steve doesnt say. He also claims Joseph and John's construction business was doing great, but Joseph liked programming better.

It's all about the guy's jobs, no mention of Sarah's books at all.

oooh, who wants to play "who's gonna be courting after the conference"??

Please please please let it be Sarah.

I hope its a woman and not a man courting, because if its a man, his new wife will be forced into Maxhell, but if its a woman she will be more free.

There are tons of families there, but I doubt the Maxwells will court someone with any celebrity or web presence again. After all, we ruined Joseph's engagement!

That's actually not much to be billing for programming. My husband is a developer for a tax firm. They charge much more an hour when my husband works on a project for someone. Unfortunately for us, hubby is salaried.

Scott Brown, Petey Bradrick's father-in-law, is having a Family Economics conference in May. And Dougie and Botkin and some other notable fundies in their circle will all be keynote speakers.

One of the most interesting thing I read in his pitch to get people to sign up is: "Consider this question: Does your family have a biblical, family-integrated vision for work, financial management, inheritance, tithing, mentorship/higher education, hospitality, care for aging parents, roles for older daughters in the home, health care, and the countless other decisions you will face?"

I would love to be a fly on the wall. I didn't dare go as far as try to register for the conference but am curious to know how much it costs.

Does it include the financing of yearly manly romps? Or generous heartfelt donations to the church of Dougie the Tool?

Maybe manly romps fall under sweet, sweet mentorship?

I didn't see that listed as a topic! Surprising!

I just realized they are also doing their little dog and pony show about 4 hours' drive from where I live (in October). That's scary that they found a niche here (it's surprising, really, because this area is pretty liberal in general). Too bad it's not a little closer -- I would just drive to the venue people watch...

Ew - I'm listening to Kevin Swanson's (AKA Ichabod Crane on crack) interview of Stevehovah. It's all about the sons, and keeping them completely separated from the "bad influences" out there in the evil world. "Sarah has been involved in our ministry" is all he has to say about his #1 hostage oldest daughter.

More jewels of wisdom from Steve-o:

Woe be unto any father who so much as mentions "looking forward to the weekend" - it's an absolute guarantee of slothful sons.

"Appetites will shipwreck the best of intentions." Entertainment, food, all bad.

"Redeeming the time:" sleeping 1 extra hour per night = bad bad bad, and will be regretted for the rest of one's life. Shoulder to the wheel, nose to the grindstone. Work work work, everyone.

Television is The Beast. Movies, even those produced by Christians, are bad. The old Maxwell family tradition of one movie per year on New Year's Eve - gone. The Lord said to Steve, "have a prayer time on New Year's Eve," and now every new year is welcomed with prayers and tears in Maxhell.

"Our children are our credentials." The children are happy, dammit. Conference attendees say it, so it must be true.

:angry-steamingears:

Time for some brain bleach, a Silkwood shower, and an episode or two of Nurse Jackie.

Okay, so this topic has been merged now, so it was the first thread followed by the thread I started.

I imagine the Maxhells will attend the one in MO, no? But they also have roots in Washington state because NR-Anna is from here. So I wonder if they will show up at that one, too, in October? Interesting how this is unfolding.

If the Hells show up on the docket, I might just have to take my dog to the ocean that weekend and check it out. But it's a drive I don't really want to have to do if I'm paying to attend the conference, too. And honestly, Ocean Shores is like a scaled-down version of Atlantic City without the casinos. It's a bit cheesy, big hotels on the ocean but there is NOTHING good to eat there. And the fact they mentioned Aberdeen -- oy. Oh, well, wait, there's a Walmart there, so maybe that's why they think that town is valuable. Run-down houses, a couple of pretty water views, but lots of unemployment and sort-of the west coast version of hillbillies. The motels (no hotels there!) are probably cheap, but I would sleep with the lights off.

ETA: And crap! I'm going to have to find myself a good pattern for a fall frumper! Bradrick(!) is from here, too, so there are bound to be some Bradricks there. Hmmm...

$99 for individual, IIRC* $259 for family of any size.

*too lazy to go look it up

Well, and then travel costs and hotel costs after that. Hmmm. I wonder what the overall net is for them.

I'd love to see their tax reporting and balance sheets, but then with Dougie (is a tool) at the helm, he probably has figured out how to diversify all this under several non-profit names. It's amazing, really.

Ohh jeeze, GrandBerry6 just came to me, snuggled his face in my neck and barfed, all over me. In my neck, in my hair, on my face, down inside my nightie all over the front of my nightie. Ohh FUCK! Bath, washed hair, cleaned sofa. Good times, good times.

I danced through my living room feeling awesome. From time to time I do this. Maybe wine is involved. Good music is definitely involved. It is awesome. I recommend it to you. With or without wine.

After a few months of trying to decide what kind of new computer to get and my brother telling me a Mac would be the best decision I could ever make and my sister telling me that would be the worst and I ought to stick to Windows.... I now have a used Mac. I am trying to get used to it. Not easy, but the Magnifying program is a lot better than the Windows one (that was the ultimate reason for my decision) and FJ works a lot better than on my 10-year old Laptop, too!!

Y'all, holter monitors suck. And naturally the palpitations that caused this test to be ordered are remarkably absent today.
I'm off to go work out in the hopes that triggers it. T minus 10 hours till I get this thing off.

I frigging hate the toilets at this worksite. Specifically the door locks. Stupid little knoblet that isn't clear if it is locked or not. Door opens right off the main hallway and the toilet is just far enough from the door that I can't just hold the door shut in case I've got the lock wrong. I mean really people, how hard is it to design this? I just want to pee in private with no anxiety. Apparently that is too much to ask for.

First thing I'm doing when I get to the hereafter is finding the ancestors who moved to the US in the first place and asking them what the fuck they were thinking moving here in the first place.  Along with giving them an epic the reason you suck speech hopefully in the presence of God and the Lord Jesus Christ Himself to all of them for condemning their descendants to living in a shithole.

Do any of you play Dyson Sphere Program?   For those who don't know what it is I'd suggest Googling it, because there's no way I could do it justice.
There's always just one more thing to do before I turn off.  Blink!  And it's 2 hours later.
