Oh gosh, I'm just sssoooo excited!!!! They're going to teach us how to dump & reload our computers to speed them up!! What a bargin at $175.

itonramp.com/courses/PCReloading/17

Where do they come up with this stuff?! I guess the need "old" students to take "new" classes.

P.S. Nathan's mentor picture is creepy. It lookes like his head was photoshoped on his body. It also looks like his eyebrows are touching his iris's. Just a really bad picture.

No one is as creepy looking as Christopher in that family, IMO.

I fail to see how OneTonRamp can support Nathan, Melanie and their kids. Does Nathan have another source of income as well?

He does small business computer support, I think.

So I presume this is for Windows PCs only? Never do they mention just what OS they're talking about.

Aside from that though it is good advice to not try reloading the computer that you're watching the class on, granted!

(Having two computers or at LEAST a phone with internet is pretty essential if you try to fix anything at all on your computer yourself, just so you can get to Mr. Google when you need to look up how to fix what you inevitably broke...)

I think that he has to have a regular job to support them. Even with no house payment (I don't have one either), they probably need ot bring in at least $27,000 a year.....at least $30,000 if the have a car payment of $250 a month ( I don't know if they have a car payment). I sat down and figured it out once, but to be honest my husband and I have no debt, besides his car payment, no house payment, no cable, we live very frugally, and we are struggling bringing in around those figures (3 kids, also). Nathan has to have a job bringing in some real money, and they just aren't telling us because that shows that their crazy ways don't work.

This times a gazillion. I mean, how much money can these fundies make just selling their goods and services to each other? I'd expect they'd have to step outside their closed little communities to make a buck.

I'm pretty sure they've mentioned Nathan "going to work" a few times. What that means I have no idea, but I'd think it'd be hard for any of the men to have jobs outside the home because then they'd have to deal with women they aren't related to.

No car payments. Maxwells believe in buying everything in cash, no debt. They don't have health insurance either, they use that Scamarition....

Then they are on the $27000 a year range ( need wise ) a little more or less depending on the cost of living in Leavenworth. I would guess it's a little less than in south eastern Virginia, were I am. Maybe $25000 at the least.

Those nasty humanistic heathens who usually teach stuff! You don't want them! Instead, we will teach you the godly way to use computers...who are built by companies owned by humanistic heathens.

Jesus and computers. Idek.

I love this comment on their page:

"Thanks Maxwells- for educating and encouragementing Brothers and Sisters in Christ!"

I’ve had the blessing of using a reloaded computer system, and it is like having a new computer

Why does everything have to be a blessing? Your brother reloaded your computer... Poor Sarah's Computer is hardly going to be full of viruses or spyware as Stevie only allows them onto a few websites.

Usually two or three years after purchase (or less), a computer is operating at a less-than-efficient speed. Waiting on a computer that jams or takes forever to open something is not pleasant (been there, done that!).

Your showing a lack gratefulness again Sarah :naughty: This is bull as all the photos of their IT equipment always shows up to date, high end stuff. Bad Stevie :naughty: making up lies to get sheep to sign up, just like your fake glowing book reviews on Amazon. God is not keen on lies Stevie...

Be interesting to know how many people apart from !!!1!! and the reversals enrol on this useless iromp.

Certainly the MaxHells are padding their own blog comments, right? I just can't believe anyone thinks saying something like "I’m currently taking Computer Essentials and A+. I highly recommend ITonRamp. The material covered is extremely practical and having a Godly Mentor and Teacher is such a blessing!" is even close to believable. And then "he" follows up with the "encouragementing" bit. Oh, puh-leeze. And it's the only comment that has rendered a reply from Stevie.

I agree that Nathan needs a regular job, but the family thus far have always stressed Nathan working for the family consulting busienss (we-communicate). Nathan's written in the books about doing consulting work for small businesses and they seem to discourage working for someone else, so if he is doing that, they are actively hiding it.

I do sometimes wonder how he supports his family . They live debt-free. They have no mortgage, no daycare, no real health care(Samaritan is a scam) and the pics of their homes shows old furnitures probably inherited from parents. Their 'big' costs are slashed but they still need about $20k/yr in the area they live. I'm guessing Nathan manages to scrap that through small time consulting and lots of tax deductions for his business.

Nobody who's actually taking A+ or some other certification-track course would be throwing bouquets in the Maxwells' direction. And given what these courses cost, they wouldn't be throwing more money away on the One Ton Ramp, for something that won't do anything for their credentials. I call shenanigans on you, Steve.

$175 just to reformat your hard dive and reinstall Windows? Are you kidding me? I can do it in my sleep. Hell, I tell people how to do it all the time for free (I'm a tech support rep). Just last week I did this very thing for my SO when he was having problems with his laptop. I'm not trying to brag here, just pointing out that you can find free help.

If there's anybody here who needs a little computer help just PM or email me. I'll be glad to help. Again, not bragging, just offering help.

I've wondered about Samaritan and Nathan and Melanie's health care issues. They must have had major bills from Susannah, and Melanie was in the hospital quite a while with Abigail, plus a C-section for the latest baby. I can't imagine the bills for all this. Would Samaritan really pay for all this?

I've tried googling around the One Ton Ramp on several occasions, looking for students. They aim their stuff at super conservative sheltering Christian families, and as we know here on FJ lots of those families blog, so I hoped to find some actual non-Maxwell reviews.

Well, I pretty much only get two hits, it's high-school age boys, and they're friends of each other. Surely that's not the only students, but I will say I wasn't exactly overwhelmed.

I think the Maxhells have Macs... at least I thought I remembered seeing Sarah or Mary with a MacBook Pro in a photo not too long ago. The MacBook Pro that costs in the ballpark of US$1200 for the 13 inch screen and up to US$1800 for the 15 inch screen. If you get the newest model with the retina display, you're shelling out between US$1500-US$2200. Mac's aren't cheap. I have had the same one for almost five years. It's an awesome piece of machinery, but after almost 5 years, it's showing its age. However, I'm sure the family probably has some PCs, too. They probably charge more to "teach" you how to "fix" your Mac because Macs are more expensive.

Off the subject here, but how can these Fundies afford all these Mac products? They're not cheap. The only reason I have a MacBook (the old MacBook that is no longer available that was $999) is because my other laptop was stolen when some douchebag broke into my old apartment. I had renter's insurance and some extra money and splurged on a Mac. However, I have an evil job that I work every day. I don't have a headship or babies and I live on my own. Clearly, I'm a heathen and I'm going to hell because I'm not married and popping out babies like Pez from a candy dispenser. How can people with no real jobs to speak of and eleventy children have all these Apple products? (MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPad, etc)? I mean, I have my old MacBook, an iPhone that I got for 99 cents when I upgraded two years ago (AT&T had a promo at the time) and an iPod that I got four years ago with my banking points. Clearly, I'm doing something wrong here.

For most fundies, I'd say not even close. But the Maxwells are fundie "celeb's" and featured in the Scamariation info, so I'd say the get more help then average.... I'm sure the hospitals and doctors have to write off a chunk of their bill as they are "uninsured". Mel's dad is a Chiropractor. I wonder how he feels about "this".....

About a year ago I wondered how the maxwell boys could afford to live on their surely meagrely incomes. I still wonder. Odd. And how will all the other boys when they move out afford a family?

Re: the Maxwell family finances.

I reiterate again that having several working adults under one roof really slashes costs. Even assuming each adult Maxwell child generates about $10k, that's almost all discretionary. They have no mortgage because they live at home. Their insurance issues are probably covered through a small-business group employer bundle which is covered by Steve, or they use Samaritan Scam. Their utilities and grocery bills are probably mainly covered by Steve because he is the headship. Essentially, the adults are keeping thousands as discretionary income. There's no cable, movies, books. There's no designer wear and hair salon is probably too secular. That leaves a lot for ipads, Macs, expensive camera, and other Cool Gadgets. Plus, each item is tax deductible. Then, there's also the hand me downs they receive from the menz in the IT business. The turnover for smartphones and laptops are probably higher because it's work related.

The thing is, our mortgage, insurance, daycare (if have kids), car payments are the big culprits. The Maxwells pool their resources together. They live together, they share cars, they have a business that requires higher end and newer electronic stuff so that means the rest of the family gets pretty new hand me downs. The family looks well off, but I think we have to treat them as any family with several working adults. Breaking it down by that, I bet each adult makes very little.

What is Scamariation/Samaritan?

I think they probably save quite a bit on their food, energy and gas bills. They make a lot by hand and buy in bulk. They wear a lot of sweaters, have a lot of wood stockpiled for their fireplace, and I'm guessing keep the thermostat low in winter, and high in summer. I doubt Nathan and Christopher and their families travel very far. The main family's gas is probably mostly spent by Uriah. And I'm betting they cut corners on just about everything they can.

I also imagine they have money in high interest savings accounts. I doubt they do the stock market, but if putting money in CDs is probably acceptable to them. I also imagine Nathan and Christopher saved for years before marrying in the first place, so they probably developed a bit of a nest egg.

And you can find deals on pretty much everything if you look in the right places.
