Glory to Jeebus for the inspiration! :D

LOL I went over there and read/skimmed some of the reviews. The Reviewer "Free" HAS to be one of us. Hilarious! And with a very high "helpful" rating, too!

The very earnest response to the review is even better! :D

I just re-read the Meek and Quiet Spirit" reviews and laughed myself silly all over again. So who's going to be the first to review the new kindle books?

OMG, I am laughing so hard I'm crying and almost peed my pants at the same time! Hats off to whoever "Free" is -- what a complete compilation of everything Maxwell! I literally got a stomach cramp laughing! Well done, Free!

Well, none of my chores are getting done.... got way too distracted reading all these helpful reviews. Awesome

Their new post announced three new Maxwell books in kindle format: Summer with the Moodys, Sweet Journey, Preparing Sons. I went to the links offered and downloaded free samples. I've never read the Moody books so I wanted to sample a couple of chapters. I was surprised by the drawings in that book, it's nicely done. Can't say that about the actual story....

I wonder if the family is turning their business online in the future? Their touring ministry is one big advertisement for their products. Maybe Steve thinks the family can cut back a bit if they can put more of their stuff in such easily accessible format. How nice that online businesses works so well for the Maxwells. They can run a complete business without hardly ever associating with others!

Thank you.

My less worthy review actually garnered the most side-splitting comment: "legalism is not what our Father wants for us"....

More isolation then, for the children that is

I just downloaded a sample of Summer with the Moodys. I'm sure this will be absolutely riveting reading!

Dig the comment from the Mom who's 16 yo son is eagerly awaiting the newest moody book....

I don't know -- "eye-trap" is truly classic. My hat is off to you, anniec! LOL!

They're free if you have a Prime membership. Summer with the Moody's is anyway. I downloaded it. She uses so many commas. I'm no grammar or punctuation expert, but something seems really wrong with her writing style.

I think with a Prime membership you get to borrow one book a month, so maybe next month you can try another.

Hilarious!

I'm amazed that Amazon didn't purge these reviews in their recent pruning (huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/23/amazon-book-reviews-delet_n_2356067.html).

Reading those reviews now--

Oh, my goodness. I am almost crying with laughter at all the reviewers who are taking the opportunity, now that the books are out on Kindle, to "donate their hard copies to the [ebil] public library," as if the public library would be interested. And knowing that the Maxwells would be horrified at that (socialist!) display of generosity just makes it even funnier.

Well done, all.

I've actually read "Meek and Quiet Spirit" (OK, I was in the hospital and they'd given me a lot of drugs, so I was clearly deranged at the time). Just looked at the Amazon reviews of it--almost wet myself laughing. I feel compelled to read the Moody books now...

I am LMAO at some of these reviews! I don't think I have laughed this hard all week! I might just have to borrow a couple of these books from the library so I can write an intelligent review. Steve-O must be shitting himself because he can't delete Amazon comments the way he deletes comments on his blog.

anniec, my ex-ATI self just laughed so hard at your review -- it's hard for satirizers to get the jargon so spot-on, in my experience!-- that my husband wanted to know the joke. He's also an ex-fundie but is not so exercised by it as I am on a day-to-day basis, and not an FJite. Anyway I gave him the three-sentence background on the Maxwells and read him your review. He also nearly fell out of his chair laughing and demanded that it be archived for future reference when necessary.

the "15 minute increments of godly activity" and being caught between the "the Rock of fruitful labour and the Hard Place of meaningful activity" just KILLED me. I still complain about the phase of scheduling in 15-minute increments that my parents went through with us (although I don't remember any Maxwell stuff being involved), so I have a bad feeling that Mr. Kaetrin is going to use your phrasing on me when I'm getting anxious about my perceived idleness.

So thanks. :-)

I'm going to download the sample of all the their books. I've already done so with the Pearl's & Duggar's books.

Make sure to have a stockpile of caffeine-laded drinks handy (Pepsi would be most appropriate), as I defy anyone to make it through more than two chapters of "Meek and Quiet Spirit" without dozing off.

Just downloaded "Summer With the Moodys". Looks pretty dire. Wish me luck!

Many fundies use waaaay too many commas. I don't know where it comes from, but it is pretty common. And very annoying.

Dear God (theirs, whoever's)...

Please, please tell Steve that he is doing it wrong. Please convict Steve's offspring that there is more to the life you've given them than living in a bubble.

Amen.

I read Summer With The Moodys last night. Sigh. I just hope she "dumbed" the book down to make it better for children. I hope she doesn't really have such a naive view of the world and the people in it. But I doubt it.

One can buy a kindle book and return it before seven days to receive a full refund.
