I can't find her name anywhere. They didn't have any plaques up at the location saying what the pharmacists names. And I didn't see a name tag on her shirt. I looked online and I can't find it on the main site for the store.

I wonder if she is a pharmacists or a pharmacy tech. Pharmacists are different them pharmacy techs. A pharmacists had to go to college and then pharmacy school to get their degree. A tech takes a few courses then passes a test. Huge difference in education. I wonder if the techs are even required to know the specifics about the laws.

I second going back with a witness and asking her what her name is (or calling her manager/ the store manager (is it a pharmacy itself or a pharmacy inside a bigger store?) to see if you can get it that way)

If you have the date and approximate time that you went in, the store will have records of who was working. You might also go back when a pharmacist is there who has helped you in the past and ask her name. Then I agree that you should send letters and complain to everyone from the store manager on up. Make you letter look and sound as professional as possible. Be angry! Let them know that you have no problems letting your friends and family know how you were treated by this pharmacist. Do not be apologetic. I am normally a quiet person, so it's hard for me to speak up, but I can write a mean letter. You were wronged, and they need to make it right!

Try looking at any old prescription bottles you might have from that store. My CVS has the pharmacist's name on the bottle.

I can't believe this is allowed to happen anywhere. I live in the heart of the Bible Belt and have never had a problem getting my BC pills! I get the run around on my son's AD/HD meds, but never my birth control! I'm posses for you!

I would up the ante a bit and mention that I would consider posting about this incident in social media barring a timely and appropriate response from the company.

See, and this is what I DON'T get about the anti-birth control movement. Birth control actually helps PREVENT abortions. Less unwanted babies=less abortions. It seems to me that if you REALLY want to prevent abortions, why don't you enable women to prevent the unwanted pregnancies in the first place? It seems like this would be so much more effective than outlawing abortion, because abortion is going to happen anyway, legal or not.

Oh, and I totally agree with the above comment: report that lady to the manager.

Because it's not about preventing abortions. It's about punishing women for having sex.

The thing I don't get is you and others are still going to get your prescriptions. It's not like their refusal is going to somehow make everyone go, "OMG! Now I realize I'm trying to have a daily abortion! I need to stop using bc! Thank you SO much for showing me the error of my ways! Bless your heart!" All it's doing is pissing people off; what's the benefit of that?!

The pharmacy person gets to have a huge power trip and feel like one of gods special snowflakes.

Well, it'll be interesting to see how much like a special snowflake she feels when the shit hits the fan.

If she'd tried that one on me she would not know what had hit her (not physically, obviously.)

She will likely consider herself a martyr for the cause if she gets fired over this.

That's fine then. She can enjoy being a martyr for the cause while taking welfare from the evil socialist liberals who provide it - oh and who also believe B/C should be free . . .

I'm so introverted and quiet. I'm not sure how much shit hitting the fan I'll be able to handle.

You have the collective FJ hive standing beside you. We will give you the support you need to assert your right to take prescribed medicine.

I'm actually more pissed about my migraine medication than the birth control. I need that medication right now and I don't have it.

You have a right to be pissed about that. Your migraine meds are not covered under any law that allow a pharmacist to deny a prescription based on moral or ethical objections. She illegally denied you the medication you need to treat your medical condition. If possible, I would go to the ER and get treated. Then, show the pharmacy the discharge papers. Make it clear that the pharmacy employee made you go to the ER because they refused to give you the medicine that treats your migraines.

She will have to live off the church/ federal welfare. No state will give her unemployment since she denied to give the op her migraine medication in addition to BC. This will also make it hard for her to get another job.

Ok, honey, then maybe try and get someone to help you with it (hug). I just get angry with people like this, trying to take a petty advantage from a position of power. I'd give you a hand if you were here, but I'm in the UK.

I understand it's not easy to be militant if you're not born that way, but even if you do it quietly, think of the fact that you may be shy and quiet, but you're intelligent and articulate, and you have awesome back up here from people who can find you the correct information.

And even if you're inclined to slip quietly away and be upset about it on your own, or stew over it angrily but silently, or even if you do find it hard to be assertive for yourself, maybe try to write the letter for the woman who can't, perhaps the immigrant with poor English, desperate not to get pregnant again, or the scared girl with no education who's having under-age sex, whom this woman at the pharmacy may also be bullying.

Then the next time anything like this happens to you you'll know that you stood up for yourself over this, and you can do it again.

I did send a letter into corporate. I don't like the idea of it going viral, news stations involved. I can not talk in public. If I had someone like experiencedd to talk I think it'd be okay but I'm not like that at all.

Hope you get a result.

What a weird situation! Refusing to do your job like that just looks like malpractice to me. Do pharmacists have a professional / governing body? If so what do they say about it?

No, that's cool, I get that. Some people can't talk in public. Me, I'm just a loudmouth. You sent the letter, and they will have to respond. You have asserted your position. If you have a friend or family member now you can share this with, they can help you to deal with following up on the letter if there isn't a suitable reply.

Meanwhile and on a more practical note, do you have a way of getting your migraine meds?

I have vicodin I can take somewhere in my medicine cabinet if it gets really bad. Its not ideal but it'll work. I dont have 150 dollars to go to the (christian) ER here. And not sure How much I'd trust them to give me ideal care after this ordeal.

Honestly, I think if you are honest, persistent, and clear with the company, you will get the result you want. They are business people, and they will want to keep your business and not get bad press. If it doesn't get the results you want, I'd say contact your state's NARAL, and ask what they recommend. They tend to have media savvy people who can help with that kind of thing, if it gets to that level.
