The rich, white, Christians would think nothing of lacing the meds of poor, non-white, non-Christian, non-straight people to kill them off. And the rich, white, straight Christians would probably be the ones in charge. There is a lot of hate and prejudice here, so there needs to be someone to make sure that that hate and prejudice doesn't run rampant.

Last I checked, Sweden has not had a worker's revolution and does not operate on anarchist principles. Why don't you get to work on that? It seems silly for you to be wasting all of your time trolling here when workers are being oppressed right underneath your nose.

I think I am about to start yanking my hair out and am most certainly going to need a bath, but I have to put in a small positive word for anarchists. They aren't all like Fundylyte. My dad believed in anarchy, and used the term. To him it meant that there was no "head" dictating, and that rational human beings should be able to do right by consensus, once you cleansed them of religion, racism, tribalism, etc, etc, etc. For the anarchists he spent some of his young adulthood around, you did not destroy the work of other people, and you certainly did not destroy production. It was basically "consensus communism". Of course, like Christianity, Communism, most religions in general, and most paths to enlightenment, it can be beautiful on paper and in individuals who act their convinctions, and a nightmare on par with Facism if they ever actually got what they wanted.

There are of course, people who identify as anarchists and want to bring down all of modern society. There are lots of schools of anarchism. But Fundylyte strikes me as what my dad used to call a "false flag". Someone who just likes destruction and chaos and uses the label anarchist, or even worse, someone who works for sinister political factions and gets paid to start trouble in the name of anarchists at public functions.

Good Lord, I can't believe I just wrote 2 paragraphs and did not use "anarchist" and "magical thinking dumbass" in the same sentence once. :roll: I need a bath, a drink, and to confess my sin to one of my Commie uncles.

I know a lot of the so-called "libertarian" types who are more line anarchists and even admit it. To them, government is in and of itself violence. Of course there's only s military for defensive purposes (run by... Who? There's no government!) But no police force, because crime will just magically disappear. Education will be privatized, but cheap because there will be no government "interference." Everyone will have a job, even if they can't afford to feed themselves with whatever wages they earn. In that case, they can just hope for someone to come and give them money and food.

I really don't get their thinking. Anarchy will only work on a very small scale, and looks surprisingly like a very socialist direct democracy with no police force or laws. So if you're a victim of crime, shoot him, and if you don't, sucks to your ass-mar.

Anarchy is not a problem with the concept of law, but with hierarchy. It's untrue that in it's original though anarchy = lawlessness. It does not believe in a head of goverment or hierarchical structure. It's not suppose to be a law of the jungle arrangement.

I can only really speak to my dad's, and his was in the context of Greek culture. He an anarchists like him despised practices like showing more respect to the person of a priest, president, or king than you would a neighbor. In fact, they could have done without all those offices. They don't even believe in a concept of a "first citizen" like in communism. They also do not recognize a concept of "party discipline, any political party discipline. You used your conscience on a lot of matters and built consensus in others. Workplaces would be run by unions (union busting is a big no-no to the anarchists I was familiar with). I think you hit the nail on the head that their vision was of small, direct democracies, which would make large nation-states impossible. They aren't libertarians in that for example if their consensus was guns should not be legal for civilians, guns would not be legal. Unions run on a consensus model, they would be encouraged. Can't see libertarians buying into unions of all things.

Anarchy in the late 20th century began to be equated with lawlessness and destructions thanks to the actions of people using the anarchist label. Some are and some are not. If all those college students with too much money and not enough responsibilities (yes, rich white upper middle class kids, I'm talking to you) really understood the work involved to make theoretical governing with no hierarchy possible, they would find other ways to amuse themselves. If mommy and daddy didn't bail them out of jail for throwing bricks through a shop window, they'd think twice about doing it in the name of "anarchy".

It's actually a very attractive theory in theory. I honestly don't see how it could work on the ground given human nature. Some people are just assholes or worse criminals. Other people do not want to be involved in every aspect of the governance of daily life. Some people are just good at leadership and no matter what anarchists say, leadership is necessary.
