Saw a Duggar sign in Tontitown

The Josh/J.D. thing aside, does anybody think that J.D. has a lady he may ask to court soon? Or maybe he has a secret girlfriend off-camera?

I don't think Jim Bob would let something like that happen off-camera. She either agrees to be on the show or there's no courtin' for JD.

I don't know, I think the Duggars know that airing a courtship that doesn't end up working out will result in a lot of bad/awkward press etc. iirc Anna advised the Bates not to broadcast anything on TV until Zach and Sarah were engaged - though it's hard to know based on how early into the show they were, it looks like that was the official stance on Josh + Anna. Plus, you want to make sure any potential Duggars are locked in for life before they realise they hate the media circus.

The only reason I think it wouldnt be aired is, well, JD is kinda boring. He doesnt speak very well and just kind of plods along. I dont think there would be any hand sex or matchy matchy clothes. An episode where JD takes a girl out for dinner, escorted by Smugly and Smuglette? BORING!

Ugh. I can see it now. JD and his intended with Anna and Josh at the Marketplace Grill. Josh at the height of his insufferable smugness, making innuendos about how great his sex life is while pontificating about the evils of pre-marital kisses on the cheek, and then proceeding to passionately make out with Anna while the young lady stares in horror. Until the food comes, when Josh becomes preoccupied with asking everyone "Are you going to eat that?"

Haha, I think maddeningly boring is right up 19KAC's alley. While JD is boring, ineloquent, not even particularly good eye candy etc., I think potentially whoever he ended up with would get a lot of screentime, especially if she was talkative. 19KAC needs fresh blood, especially since the baby factory is shutting down, and a new Duggar (plus the inlaws) is far more interesting than a tenth dentist visit.

I don't think JD's business amounts to much. He has a crappy single-page website that hasn't been updated in 2 years, no social media presence, no shop or office space that I can see. It's likely that JD is more productive than Josh because he doesn't spend the majority of his time fucking around on the internet, at the very least. But how could anyone run a towing business when they're routinely out of town for weeks at a time? He doesn't appear to advertise and I can't imagine anyone would recommend someone who may or may not even be in the country. I can see JD spending his time helping Joseph around the TTH and the rental properties, but I think his "business" is more for STFU Internet than anything else. JD is just as stymied in adolescence as the J'slaves.

I'd be willing to wager money that the only towing that is done is repo'ing cars for Josh. That's a pretty big business at a buy-here-pay-here.

He could have a contract with AAA or a similar road service business.

Thank you! I've been thinking the same thing for years. When you need a tow, you don't want to have to wonder if the operator is out of town. I'm sure most of JD's work is for Josh, and he may be on the police call list, but most towing services are available 24/7. I highly doubt AAA would have him on their list.

No doubt he's a good worker, but when he is still at Daddy's beck and call, having to leave town frequently to travel with the dog and pony show, he can't really build up his business and clientele. Too bad, because if he teamed up with Joseph, they could probably have a fairly prosperous business.

Surely that job he had with the bank to clean up the lot had some sort of deadline. I can't see the bank telling him they would be happy to wait while he traipsed off to sing the blood song at a political rally in another state.

I also think Jim Bob routinely expects him to drop everything and come help when there's a problem at one of the rental properties.

So while he may have a decent work ethic, his father is still managing to stunt any possible growth.

Looks like JD lost, according to the count web site.

Wonder if Josh will announce that, too.

Damn, he lost by twelve votes? Just think, in a decade or two that gap'll be closed by his parents' prodigious breeding. Not the most efficient political strategy, but still...

Presumably he won the constable position he was running unopposed on though. Poor no confidence.

I'm pretty sure that's the entire Quiverful political philosophy: fucking for political domination. Boob and Mullet are probably strutting around right now thinking about what those little Duggar votes will mean in the future. Good consolation prize I guess.

Interesting. Had smugs just tweeted a few times he probably could have closed that gap with leghumpers.

I think hes happy about that, because I guess he thinks that if he cant be in politics, neither should any of his siblings.

John David seems like a hard working guy and I like him more than Josh, although because of the beliefs their family has, I wouldnt want any of them in a position of power (unless they leave being fundie for good)

Yeah, he probably is happy JD lost. Everything we've seen—and not seen—from Josh in the last day or so pretty much validates the jealousy theory, I think. One more faultline in the family that won't help matters when TLC finally pulls out.

Yay.

Some observations on the JD discussion

1. Likely he employs someone to do most of the towing--even if just casually on an "on call" basis or something. Possibly a relative in Michelle's clan--some of which live near by.

2.J.D. doesn't seem wildly into politics. I think he's being pushed because Josh doesn't live in Tontitown.

3. Gothard wants as many young men as possible to volunteer in Fire/Rescue etc to win acceptance by the community for their community spirit so they can build goodwill and be elected to office to help bring a Christian nation to reality. John David and ANY Duggar would be hurt by the family's world-wide "fame" today. People now know they are truly nuts.

I just have a feeling that JD isn't heartbroken over his loss. Big brother is positively giddy about it.

So if JD doesn't really seem to have his heart in it, and Josh is too big of a joke to actually get elected which Duggar boy do you think Jim Boob might push into running for office next?

I think they won't have anybody for a while. The J'slaves don't have enough Y chromosomes to get into politics, Joseph has a couple of years and the same shy temperament as JD, and Josiah can't be trusted to toe the party line.

Could that mean it's effectively the end of any Duggar political aspirations if Joseph doesn't step up, then? Even if Jed or Jer can be strongarmed into running when their time comes—and that's if, because while I don't know that they'd be as problematic as Josiah, they also don't strike me as being as readily compliant as the older boys—that's five years down the road. By which time the show will be long over, some kind of jailbreak may well have happened, and, you know, the world will have moved even further away from their politics. Even leghumpers will have moved on by then.

Unless, of course, JB tries to push a howler into politics down the line. In which case, may I offer my preemptive LOLs.
