From Steven's FB page. Beware, you might want your barf bags handy... (It accompanies a creepily close shot of a woman holding her baby on a hotel balcony)

Ladies, let me humbly offer you some perspective. I shot this image from the balcony of our hotel. Imagine that you're considered a second class human being and treated like a domesticated slave by your husband. The only thing left to give you joy is your child. Just think of the hopeless existence this Muslim woman must bear without the gospel of Jesus. Be thankful for the life you have in America, and offer a prayer for this unknown woman and her baby.

Followed by this charming rejoinder in the comments:

John Ellis IV I feel sorry for the baby who is growing up in that culture and who is almost certainly hell bound:(

These people...

Sounds a lot like life for a VF/ATI wife to me.

And this is different than the life he has planned for his future wife and daughters how...?

Sounds like an upgrade actually. At least the hellbound slave gets falafel.

Christians are enjoying the Twilight Series! What have we come to? It shames me that my own heart has desired after this vile literature.

Seriously? This is another quote from Steven's Facebook page. I'm pretty sure that grown men should not be lusting after the Twilight books. Creepy.

The only question would obviously be, is Steven on Team Edward or Team Jacob?

Team Edward all the way. He strikes me as the type to appreciate a sparkly man.

Joseph Bowman (the youngest brother) is working for a secular animation company called Commotion Motion (they make an airplane commercial I've seen). So at least he isn't working for Vision Forum, though maybe he's just getting experience while he's in college so he can transfer over to Vision Forum film making later.

I worry about these two brother-sister (you know what I mean) dating couples. That could be potentially be a lot of family pressure if one of the couples does decide to get married, but one of the remaining couple isn't so sure. Hopefully the younger couple will just court until the guy finishes college and gives them more time to mature and make their own decisions.

Does anyone know the typical age Vision Forum couples get married?

Steven Bowman (the first couple we're discussing) is 27, and Lacie looks 23 or 24.

David Bowman (couple two) is at least 22, Facebook gives his earliest job as Vision Forum in 2009.

I think Steven is 25, not 27, as in January this year he posted a piece called "My 25th Birthday"

facebook.com/notes/steven-bowman/my-25th-birthday/256756874395589

Friends, comrades, countrymen. On this, my quarter-of-a-century birthday day, I would like to take the opportunity and thank God for the hard things in life. It's difficulty, which tests our resolve and helps us to grow. I would like to thank the Lord of financial difficulty; it taught me to be thrifty. I'm thankful heartbreak and disappointment; it taught me to trust God's providence.

I'm also thankful for the blessing of family and the phone calls I've shared with my parents and siblings. You'll never know how much our conversations have encouraged me. You've been my biggest and vavorite fans! I pray that my actions, this past year, have brought honor to my Mommy and Daddy and shown that the countless hours they spent teaching me weren't in vain.

To all my friends in Georgia, you represent my very best childhood memories of Church fellowship, camping trips, speech and debate, Teenpact, Boy Scouts, and Chick-fil-a. It's hard to believe we've grown up so fast. God willing, there are many years more for us. Cast your cares upon the Lord. Look to Him and His Word, alone, for wisdom and life purpose. Reject what Vanity Fair has to offer, and keep fast in the light of revealed truth. Before I see all of you again, many of us will be married and growing our own households. You wouldn't believe the things God has done in my life. I look forward to hearing how He has blessed yours!

To my Texas friends, I'm honored to be the object of so much love and hospitality! It's your kindness that has made San Antonio my second home! Thank you, everyone, for all the emails, Facebook comments, and phone calls today! If a man's wealth is measured by the number of his Christian friends, then I am the richest man alive!

My new year begins with much anticipation! Stay tuned for more videos!

Steven has a slightly Mr. Bean-ish look.

Ah, so Lacie the beloved-of-Steven and a VF poster girl has a blog with her sister Laura. no updates since July (busy getting engaged I suppose), but it does appear that these folks are "in" with the VF crowd, highly so.

You're right, Pclee. I was going off his 2005 graduation date. Normal kids would graduate at 18, but he must have gruaduated from homeschool at 16.

I think it is Michael Morton, the oldest Morton son, married to Kressant (Smith) and father of five.

Wow²

And on a sidenote: this Lacie girl just looks sooo much like a VF-postergirl. I think it is really interesting how much VF and ATI girls differ in their looks. Just sayin'..

I'm with you on that. These gals don't appear to be wearing frumpers. In some ways, that's why VF scares me more than ATI, because while both groups teach some pretty awful stuff, VF comes across as far closer to "normal" at least initially.

Pretty sure that pic is from last summer, the Disharoon wedding. roravalley.com/blog/?p=4969

If you're ATI you dress like you've come to scrub the toilet; if you're VF you dress as though you've household staff*.

In reality the difference is nothing more than a cheap string of low grade pearls. VF likes to project a genteel, refined image but at the end of the day, girls from both cults are going to be scrubbing toilets until another blessing is old enough to take their place.

*at least, that's what they think they're doing.

Thanks. So basically ATI-ers are VF-ers poor, redneck cousins?

VF girls have sex hair and like to play dress up.

Edit: I really didn't mean to quote Katydid! Grrr, sorry, you asked a legit question and it looked like i was being snarky.

No problem :)

Gothard actually likes the 1950's airline stewardess look on his "girls". But most of the traditional (I think it has changed some) outfits were rather frumpy. When looking for pictures of ATI women, I found this blog. The women have the Gothard approved looks.

Poor Sarah...She's 30 years old (or almost) and has two broken engagements under her belt, one of them to Christopher Maxwell. Gothard keeps her busy, but she must secretly wonder what went wrong.

Advocate, are you the one who had the bit of inside information on NR Emily?

If you do know the Bowmans/Verrets/Freemans, do tell if you think there is a likelihood the three brothers will marry in quick succession. and any other tidbits that you know, we want to know.

The girl on the left... WTF is up with her expression? I find it rather unsettling. :?

Agreed. It looks like to me a "practiced" smile that she's perfected in front of the mirror, complete with head tilt, in order to bring out her eyes. It's the same awful look Kendyll Beggs (Lazy Lyndsie's sister) does. It really is unflattering for an otherwise pretty girl.

I know OF them, but I have no idea what their marriage plans are. Funny how 3 seem to be courting.

From the "Why I Desire Lacie" piece:

"Of course there are numerous reasons I could list for my desire to marry Lacie: her humility, honesty, patience, and loyalty. I believe in my heart that she has accepted Christ as her Savior and her teacher. Because He is her teacher, inevitably she will model Him. My hardest task, in my search for a bride, was finding one who will love her Lord more than anything else, including her husband. A woman who fears the Lord will submit to her early authorities, and embrace her unique role as homemaker and mother. She will reject the vanities of the world, not fearing the reproach of her secular peers and be steadfast, joyful for the duty set before her. I have found in Lacie Verret such a woman, a perfect helpmeet to me as I seek to bring a biblical standard to Christian media.

It would be remiss, if I failed to remind the reader that if God is not honored by my actions in this engagement, all good intentions will be for naught. My betrothed is a daughter of the King of kings and thus a deadly trust is laid upon me to nurture her with honor and respect. She has laid her heart before me to take as my own. What a diabolical, dastardly thing it would be if I crushed and defiled it with my words and actions. And so, for those who seek a virtuous wife, take heed for your life, that you do not provoke the wrath of Almighty God to destroy you!"

Wow.

Wow, so Jesus modeled bigotry and homophobia that you know these people advocate? And he said women were second-class citizens? And that we should fear instead of love? Hmm, different Jesus than the one I know.
