At first I thought the movie times you posted were the list of channels that were playing October Baby. I was a little concerned.

Maybe I will check out, it kind of looks better than the Sherwood Pictures movies. I have to wonder what is up with Jasmine Guy. is she fundie lite or something?

Her father was a pastor according to Wikipedia but I doubt she's a fundie lite. I'm going to guess that she just needed the work. Work is work, and there isn't a lot of it out there for women over 50.....

She dropeed the F bomb quite a lot when she was on "Dead Like Me", so I doubt it. Like someone else said, she probably just needs work and isn't picky.

I saw John Schneider was in that. Y'all let me know if he is still a decent actor. I watched the movie he made, Collier & Co. and was not impressed. It could have been better if he hadn't decided to cast his family and friends.

Oh, I had forgotten about Dead Like Me. AWESOME show. And Jasmine Guy was great in it, Mandy Patinkin was great in it too.

Is GMC the country music channel? Because if so I can see why they would try to appeal to conservative fundie-lites, who might make up a significant percentage of country music fans. But I also kind of wonder if they were looking for "October" movies for October.

It's sort of the "other" country music channel, now that CMT has gone off the rails, although GMC apparently means Gospel Music Channel, which would explain some of the fundie-lite connection. (Sort of like Cooking vs Food Network.) I don't watch it much, but I think they do actually show music videos.

And if they wanted a movie with "October" in the title, I'd much rather watch October Sky any day. Not sure the fundies would appreciate it though.

Are you sure about that? I thought GAC, Great American Country, was the other country music channel... but I don't watch either and don't go that high on my cable box guide so I have no idea.

GMC tends to show things like Dr. Quinn, 7th Heaven, Touched by an Angel, The Waltons, etc. I watch it because they show Judging Amy in the afternoons.

Oops! You're right, I was confusing GAC and GMC. Shows how much I watch either of them. GAC is the "other" country channel, since CMT is light on the actual music. Which I guess makes GMC some weird hybrid of GAC and maybe Hallmark? It seems to show a lot of drama, and not much music, from the few times I've watched it.

I have this channel, and I must admit, I totally watch it. I have never seen music videos, but I usually don't tune in until the evening.

I have this thing for 7th Heaven. I can't explain it. It is like a sort of nostalgic snark for me. They also seem to be playing Touched by an Angel now, which has the same attraction for me. They are two of my guilty pleasures so if nothing else is on and I am in need of entertainment, or background noise, I tune into GMC.

I like that GMC shows 7th Heaven and Touched by an Angel reruns. Those shows are good to snark on. I have to admit there were few episodes of Touched by an Angel that were good. GMC used to air Highway to Heaven reruns. That show was corny at times but it was better than 7th Heaven and Touched by an Angel. There were a few episodes of HTH that never mentioned God at all. I think the acting of Michael Landon and Victor French really made the show.

GMC for awhile aired reruns of Early Edition and they promoted it quite a bit because of Kyle Chandler being an Emmy nominee because of Friday Night Lights. I loved Early Edition back in the 90s.

I used to watch "Dr Quinn" and "Judging Amy" on GMC. I did think it odd that they bleep out every "damn" or "hell" on that show...if you feel the need to bleep it, don't air it!

I love 7th Heaven, it's a snark goldmine. All the Brenda "wack-a-doo" Hampton shows carry that ridiculous element. Bless her heart!

I hope after The Secret Life of the American Teenager ends, Wack-a-Doo Hampton retires from the TV business. She did try to get another show on ABC Family a couple of years back. It was going to be about a group of teenage girls. I don't know if a pilot was ever filmed. But my guess is that ABC Family decided to spare us of another Hampton show.

I loved Judging Amy! It took place in Hartford, the city where I worked for many years, and I loved seeing the way they worked local references into the episodes (copies of the Hartford Courant, references to Connecticut judiciary and social service organizations, a wedding planned at the the Atheneum, etc.). I especially loved how the series ended--with Amy deciding to run for Senate, instead of getting married and having a baby (even though Adrian Pasdar was damn easy on the eyes).

Egads. Was going to get a movie at Redbox. Saw "October Baby" AND "Courageous" on the lineup. Both available (and hopefully no one will be daft enough to rent either of them).

For the clinic where I'm on the board, I'm planning on a night where we show movie clips to discuss how abortion is portrayed in cinema. I'll probably include clips from this--if I can get combat pay for watching it.
