Gods Lunatics....

God's Lunatics: Lost Souls, False Prophets, Martyred Saints, Murderous Cults, Demonic Nuns, and Other Victims of Man's Eternal Search for the Divine Hell of a title.

Picked up this book recently, and it's really good. Though sometimes I think the author is a little one sided. It's basically a listing of various religious movements and figures throughout history. Good reading, and I'm only up to the letter H.

Thought this might have been right up some of y'alls allies.

When I was little, I actually stuck an old paperback of mine into the tub to see how long it would take to dry off. Sounds about right. Thankfully it was still readable after that.

Strangely enough, I love reading in the bathtub. It's very relaxing, but your glasses can fog up.

Strangely enough, the hotel where we stayed in Gatlinberg had arm rests in the jacuzzi tub that was perfect for this! I wanted to bring it home with us!!!!

I have discovered, that if you drop one in the tub, it takes about two days for it to dry.

You can take a hair dryer and blow dry each page. It still takes forever, but is still less time than two days.

I don't mean to be a party pooper but please be sure to take anything in that book with a grain of salt. In fact, assume anything you read may be utter pants. I skimmed it and put it down when a cursory glance in the "cults, copycat" revealed that Largo didn't do even the most basic research and that the publisher did not fact check his assertions. I'm a near expert on The West Memphis Three and the Lundgren Mormon cult murders and if Largo managed in a few paragraphs to get so much about out them wrong (he literally got everything wrong about the WM3), I worry about the information he offers on topics I know little about. I detailed my reaction to the book here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/277805472

Sorry to bash the book, but it really is a hot mess. Largo plays fast and loose with facts, which I discovered when I read his book Genius and Heroin. He's an entertaining writer but his approach to actual truth is problematic.

(I run an odd book site and had purchased this book to read for my site, hence reading it with such a critical eye. But man... It really was crappy. :( )
