Sometimes I swear the ignorance hurts...

http://treasuresfromashoebox.blogspot.com/2012/08/2016-obamas-america-review.html

The morning after the 2008 election, I sat at the computer reading the results, with tears streaming down my face. Terry came and stood next to me with a look of concern. "I'm going to miss America," I whispered.

Let's see, we have:

~Beating children

~Gross mistreatment of the oldest child

~Adultery (on both sides)

~Religious brainwashing

~Wifely submission

~Animal abuse (yes shooting that poor dog was animal abuse)

I think that's what's wrong with America and I would be the one with tears streaming down my face if I though that there was a dog's chance in hell that people like Cheryl and Terry would be taking over our country. Thankfully (due in large part to their insistence on homeschooling their kids into stupidity) I don't have to worry about that.

Oh, I don't know. Stupid seems to be "in" these days. You know, if you're dense enough, it means you're returning to traditional values. The good old days of ignorance is where it's at, man!

Personally, I hope that if my appendix bursts, they'll knock me out with ether and slice me open stem to stern with a knife the surgeon wiped off on his bloody apron. Good times.

I've tried posting comments on her blog, but always nothing gets published. It is as though she wants 'likeminded' people only.

I basically have told her she either needs to shut up about how she hates certain things or be more proactive. All her whining just pisses me off.

I agree. Stupidity has been raised to the level of virtue in this country. It's disheartening and embarrassing.

For some fundies, America is only America when we have a white President.

If these people had any sense of reality, they would know that President Obama has governed as a centrist. It's a myth that he has governed as this far left liberal.

Unfortunately, there's been a strain of anti-intellectualism in this country since before it WAS a country, all the way back to Royall Tyler and "The Contrast" and before. The difference I see, is that 1. it seems to be filtering upwards into the (so-called) educated classes and 2. those who harbor these attitudes don't labor as hard to camouflage them.

Heh. Reminds me of the first Monday of 2001, when a coworker wished me a happy new year and I somberly said something about it being the end of the American empire.

...oh, wait.

Yes, we are a country where politicians race to the bottom of the stupidity train. I understand the need to 'connect' to voters and all, but I hate that there are so many voters who mistrust anyone is acts "smart".

Now, being educated is bad. Ivy League is a like a curse word. Having traveled aboard, being successful makes you anti-American. I mean, why would I want to vote for someone dumber than me? Why the heck would I want someone less knowledgeable than me taking care of foreign policy and reforming health care? Wouldn't I want to vote for the person MOST qualified, who have shown a history of excellence through school and work? I guess some people feel so insecure they don't want their leaders to be smarter than them. Race to the bottom, my friends.

I believe you meant to say: "Our Long National Nightmare Of Peace And Prosperity Is Finally Over"

(The Onion may be a humor paper, but that is one of the more prescient of many prescient headlines.)

I read that as "I'm going to Miss America" and thought to myself "Pageants?? Really? I had no idea."

Where does she propose she live if not America?

Saudi sounds like her kind of place.

It doesn't matter if Obama is a centrist. The farther right he moves, the farther right the conservatives go. I feel Iike they view anything Obama does is evil and they must do the opposite.

It wouldn't matter if Obama was as far right as he could go. He's black. And black is bad. We can't have a half black man born out of wedlock running our country according to these fundies.

The really sad part is that they don't realize how much these evil socialistic policies help them more than others. They don't work in jobs that have medical insurance, so having single payer insurance for all will mean that when they engage in high risk pregnancies their blessings will have a higher likelihood of living. They are against tax breaks for the lower income individuals but pro-tax breaks for the rich? It makes no sense considering that they are the lower income people that will be helped. They don't serve in the military yet want to continue a fruitless war overseas. I just don't get how they can continue to deny that the Democrats have their back a lot more than the Republicans do. Then again, their level of ignorance is so pervasive that they only believe what their cult leaders tell them.

I can only hope that Cheryl will never be a grandmother. Her poor daughters have been raised into being as ignorant as her, maybe even more so. I can only hope that any man who wishes to court one of the girls will read the blog and learn of all the adultery and lying and crazy in the family and stay very far away. She's basically damned her children by airing all the dirty laundry online. Erasing the blog won't help because anyone with any sense would look in the wayback machine... then again fundy boys don't have any sense either. oy.

Which American is she going to Miss? North America? Which is made of Canada, The United States of America, Mexico? Or South America? Which has lots of smaller nations.

That's exactly right - they push him, he moves (because he doesn't understand that you can't negotiate with bullies), and voila! we have a right-leaning Democrat for our President.
