Target's Gay Marriage Ad

I give it 12 hours. The ad is cute, though.

That's generous. I give the 40,000 Moms 6 hours, tops.

So, are the fundies gong to stop shopping at Target? I hope so- a bunch shop at my local Target and they're rude, obnoxious and let brats run everywhere.

The fundie shopping world sure is shrinking. Also on the list of things they'll have to avoid--flying anywhere. Rockwell Collins, an aviation technology that has parts in practically every plane, gives benefits to same-sex spouses of employees. (Found this out when my husband got hired there.) I'm not sure if this is because the company is located in Iowa, where same-sex marriage is legal. So, they might also want to avoid traveling to Iowa or buying any products from companies based there.

I've known plenty of couples that registered at Target. It's affordable, and it's everywhere, so it makes gift giving easier for guests.

Who registers at Target?

I would have, if we'd had a real wedding (along with probably another, higher end store). We've been living together, we have two kids. I'd just be registering for affordable replacements and a few upgrades within our families budgets.

No one who wants a $260 coffee pot, that's for sure.

$259.95, and so worth it.

(I am kidding... I mean, about it being worth it. It really does cost $259.95)

So now they have to boycott:

Target

JC Penny

Amazon

Microsoft

Apple

Meanwhile, they will be flocking to eat fried chicken and french fries. At least their arteries won't hold up for long.

Damn. I didn't realize you could get such expensive things at Target. Snarking failed.

Cheer up, it's not from Target. I just wanted to see whether such things existed. I checked Amazon and this was actually on the cheaper end of things. But who needs a $3000 coffee pot, right? That's just dumb.

Edited to add: Target's priciest coffee pot is a (downright frugal!) $150.

Oh! I fail at reading, my bad.

I was just snarking on Joe Maxwell, who does have his betrothed heart set on a $260 coffee pot from BB&B.

Awesome. It's cool to see something like that be portrayed by regular advertisements as MARRIAGE not GAY MARRIAGE. I really like how it just seems normal and how several companies in the US are getting this way.

It's a cute ad! Just hope they've stopped donating to anti-gay marriage groups.

To my knowledge they haven't apologized for their donation to the Emmer for governor campaign. It would delight me if they're actually trying to reconcile with QUILTBAG organizations-- I have been boycotting for a while now, but miss them.

Hooray! We get to give money to people who've campaigned against us and our rights before. What an honor!

I know, right? Wasn't it just last year that Target was donating to anti-gay organizations? Maybe they finally figured out the buying power of LGBT people.

Naw, you heard jericho, it's got nothing to do with actual masses of people and their buying power. Target was strong-armed into it by a small minority of people who control the government and media with only the power of their letter-writing campaigns. Or something like that.

I can't wait until the only place fundies can shop is Wal-mart. That way, we'll know where not to go so we can avoid them.

Bingo. They want our money, but they sure as hell don't want us to have rights as human beings. What a silly concept.

Also, RachelB -- I've never heard "QUILTBAG" before! It's cute. Queer, something, intersex, lesbian, transgender, bisexual, asexual, gay? What am I missing with the U?
